Introduction to the AWS Management Console


The AWS Management Console gives you secure login using your AWS account from your choice
of browser. The console gives you flexibility to customize your view and settings and manage
favorites for later. You can also use the console to manage and monitor your AWS account.

The console is where you can find and launch AWS services. Use the search box on the
navigation bar to find the services that you need. You can also expand the Services menu in the
navigation pane that is always present in the console. Just choose Services from any page to see
a full list of AWS services.

In this course, you acquire the knowledge that you need to start using the AWS Management
Console. You learn how to customize the console, find and access services, and how to manage
service costs.

Course level
This is a foundational level course that is written for learners beginning with cloud computing and
AWS services. When you start this course, you don’t need to have a deep understanding of cloud
computing.

Objectives
By the end of this course you will be able to do the following:

• Describe the purpose of the AWS Management Console.


• Navigate the features and functions of the AWS Management Console.
• Discuss the structure of the AWS global infrastructure.
• Identify AWS payment models and service cost factors.

Course layout
This course is self-paced, and you can take it in as many sessions as you like. You can stop and
come back at any time. The course saves your progress.

The course has two sections:

• The first section is the content module. This is where you learn information and skills related to
the content. You should expect to spend about 30 minutes completing the content.
• The second section is the final assessment. You must pass the final assessment with a score
of 70 percent or better to complete the course. You should expect to spend about 10 minutes
completing the final assessment.

Course navigation
The course content is set to pause each slide by default. That means you will have to choose play
on each slide to review the content. This feature makes the content more accessible to all
learners.

If you do not want each slide paused, you can choose to have each slide autoplay. Choose the
Autoplay slides button on the title slide. This will change the toggle from a grey pause button to a
green play button. The slides will be set to autoplay for the entire course.

How to get help

If you need help when you are taking a course, you can get help from the panel on the left side of
the Canvas page. The Help icon directs you to a page that includes helpful material about courses
and badges, a FAQ section, and a link to create support requests.

When you’re ready to begin this course, choose the Next button.
