    At the end of the lesson.the students will be able to:
    a. write the proper article (a/an ) before each noun;
    b. identify things around them using the article a / an; and
    c. describe the difference between a / an.

    A. Preliminary Activities
    1. Prayer
    Please stand up. The students will stand up and recite the

    A and An are the indefinite articles. They
    are used before nouns.They are always
    use with singular nouns.

    "A" is used when the noun begins with a


    consonant.

    What are the consonant letters? (b, c, d, e, f, g, h, i, j, k, 1, m, n, o, p, q, r, s,


    t, u, v, w, x, y, z)

    For example, a book, a pencil.


    "A" is also used before words that start
    with a vowel letter but the vowel sounds
    consonant.

    For example, a university.


    The word starts with a vowel but the
    vowel 'u' sounds as the consonant "y"
    "An" is used when the noun begins with
    a Vowel

    What are the vowels? (a,e,i,0,u).


    For example,an eagle,an ice cream.

    consonants, while AN is used in nouns that
    begin with vowels.
    E. Application

    The teacher will draw two columns on the


    board. Write "a” on top of one column.
    Write "an" on top of another column.

    I will group you into two groups. The team


    A will give words that take the article "a"
    before them. The team B will give words
    that take an article "an" before them. If any
    member of both teams writes a plural noun,
    the team loses point. Play the game for 10
    minutes. The team which scores more points
    wins.
