Civil Rule in Nigeria – Abubakar Tafawa Balewa
Abubakar Tafawa Balewa was Nigeria's first and only Prime
Minister during the First Republic.
The First Republic started on October 1, 1963, when Nigeria
became a republic. However, Tafawa Balewa had already been
leading Nigeria since independence on October 1, 1960.

His Contributions-

 Foreign Relations
 Economic Development

Major Achievements of His Administration


i. Peaceful Transition to Independence
ii. He was a defender of Nigerian unity and integration
iii. His government created the Mid–West Region in 1963.
