SPREADSHEET
The workbook must be saved as Jaxy Auto.
1. Customers from various classes in society purchase vehicles from Jaxy Auto on a regular basis. You are required to design a
spreadsheet to capture data for the St. Catherine auto outlet. You are allowed to enter data for thirty (30) customers. Vehicles
are purchased from a wide variety of companies across Japan. All vehicles are priced based on their cc rating, shipping cost,
custom rate, concession rate, Interest rate, Type of vehicle (Truck, SUV, Car), GCT, transportation, Vechicle and base
cost (cost paid by Jaxy Auto to acquire the motor vehicle in Japan). All vehicles are shipped to a wharf located on Perth Road
in Kingston, Jamaica. The distance of the Auto outlet from the wharf significantly affects the cost of transportation.
The transportation cost for St. Catherine is as follows:
Trucks $5500 per unit, SUVs $4000 per unit and Cars $3500 per unit.
The name, occupation, Chassis Number, type of vehicle and financial details must be recorded for each customer.
FirstName LastName Occupation Base Chassis CC Shipping Custom Concession Interest GCT Transportation Vehicle Type of
Cost Number Rating Cost Rate Rate Rate Cost Cost vehicle
TASK 1
1. The cc rating for the vehicles ranges from 1000 to 4500. All vehicles with cc ratings over 3000 are required to pay a custom rate fee that is
3.5 % of the base cost of the vehicle. All others are required to pay 2% of the base cost. Shipping charge is calculated at 5% of the base cost
of the vehicle while the concession rate is calculated at 20%. GCT is calculated as 15% of the base cost of the vehicle. All vehicles attract an
interest rate of 14.5 %.
a) Insert appropriate formulae to calculate the charges that should be attached to the cost of the vehicles.
TASK 2
1. Jaxy Auto also offers financing for customers who meet the qualifying mark. The monthly income and vehicle cost are used to arrive at
monthly payments for each customer. Capture the financing information for each customer on a separate sheet in your spreadsheet
document.
Firstname Lastname Chassis Number Base Cost Vehicle Cost Monthly Income Interest
b) Due to changes in the financial market the GCT has been increased to 16.5 % and the interest rate on the financing of vehicles has been
increased to 15%. Insert columns titled GCT (Increased) and Interest Rate (Increased).
c) Insert a column at an appropriate location and calculate the final cost for the vehicles. FINAL COST = (INTEREST RATE (INCREASED
+ VEHICLE COST).
d) All customers are given four years (48 Months) to pay for their vehicles. Insert a column titled monthly instalment in an appropriate area
of your spreadsheet and calculate the monthly instalment to be paid on each vehicle.
e) Insert an appropriate column called ‘Status’ that will indicate if a customer has been “approved” or “not approved” for financing. All
customers whose monthly instalment is equal to or below their monthly income should be given a status of approved.
TASK 3
1) Extract data for all customers who have been approved for financing for the Monthly Income worksheet.
2) Insert an appropriate chart that will display the names, final cost and monthly instalment for all approved customers.
3) Insert a pivot table to display the summary of the customers that are approved or not approved for financing. (This will highlight if the
financing requirements are too high for the customers to meet).
TASK 4
a) Sort all customers financing data by vehicle cost then by monthly instalments.
b) Count up all approved and not approved applicants in an appropriate area of your spreadsheet.
