AI Bass User Guide
1 How to install.
The software does not require the use of an installer, you just need to
copy the contents of the zip file to the appropriate directory.
Installation on Windows:
Access the downloaded zip file. If you want to use it as VST2 software,
copy the "AI_Bass_Ultimate.dll" file into the VST plug-in directory you
are using. By default this is located in C:\Program Files\Vstplugins\, but
if you are not using this, copy it to the directory of your choice!
Start the DAW! Some music editing software will detect new plug-ins on
startup. However, in some cases you need to tell the music editor that
you have placed a new extension in the vst directory.
Once the DAW has detected the extension, you will find it under the
name Bitsonic LP. Drop the plug-in onto an Instrument track.
After the plugin loads, it will display the following message: Cannot find
any instruments.
Click on the Choose folder button and enter the location of the folder
where you placed the AI_Bass_Ultimate.mse file! The plug-in will now
read the sampler sounds it needs to work from the selected folder.
If you want to use the VST3 version, copy the AI_Bass_Ultimate.vst3 file
to C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\. If there is no such directory,
create one! The rest of the process is the same as for installing VST2.
Double click on the downloaded zip file! A new directory will be created
where you can find the files.
In the Mac directory you will find three files with the extensions
component, vst and vst3.
In a new window, browse to MacintoshHD/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/.
If you are using Logic music editor, copy the
AI_Bass_Ultimate..component file to the Components directory!
If you are using a music editor that does not support AudioUnit Plug-Ins,
copy the AI_Bass_Ultimate.vst3 file to the VST3 directory! If there is no
directory with this name in the path above, create one!
Your DAW may not support AudioUnit or VST3 plug-ins. In this case,
copy the AI_Bass_Ultimate.vst file to the VST directory!
Launch the music editing software. Most DAWs will automatically detect
when a new plug-in is added to the specified directory, but if this does
not happen, you will have to manually detect the plug-in in the DAW.
Once the DAW has found the Plug-in, drop the Plug-in onto an
Instrument track!
After loading the plugin, it will display the following message: Cannot
find any instruments.
Click on the Choose folder button and enter the location of the folder
where you placed the AI_Bass_Ultimate.mse file! The plug-in will now
read the sampler sounds it needs to work from the selected folder.
AI Bass features.
The AI Bass Ultimate version includes 7 distinct playing styles, which can
be activated using the keyswitch mode selector. These are sus, flag,
mutes, slaps, up, down, and the up & down playing styles. In addition,
sounds created when stopping the string, as well as the sound of the
fingers sliding on the string, can be added to the playing styles. These
are the stop and squeaks sounds. The volume of Squeaks and Stop
sounds can be adjusted separately. The AI Bass Mini version only
features the Sus playing style.
Functions:
Distortion
Chorus:
The chorus effect adjusts the pitch of the original signal up and down
based on the frequency specified by the user. This is added to the
original signal to create the Chorus effect.
Freq.: This value gives the speed at which the pitch changes.
Mix: Adjusts the ratio of the mix of the original and the modified signal.
ADSR:
Attack: The attack phase begins the moment a key is pressed. This
phase determines how quickly a sound reaches full volume before
entering the decay phase.
Decay: The decay phase determines the length of the drop from the
peak level to the sustain level of a sound.
Sustain: The sustain phase does not specify a length of time. Instead, it
determines the volume of a sound for the entire hold time between the
decay and release phases.
Release: The final phase determines the speed at which a sound ends
from the moment you release the key. Depending on the desired sound,
the release time can be short or long. This setting is unique for each
preset, so if you set its values individually and then load a new preset,
the individual setting will not be valid in the new preset.
Panic:
In the event that the sound is still playing after the stop button has been
pressed, pressing the Panic button will stop the sound from playing.
Typically this occurs when the automation value of the sustain pedal on
the midi track is left depressed.
