1. INTRODUCTION
1.1 Background of the Study
The study of bearing capacity has only arisen with civil and structural
engineering. Scientists and engineers are starting to look into how soil properties can
influence the foundations' stability. The first studies were dealing with the derivation of
analytical techniques for getting the bearing capacity of soil, specifically, the case of the
static load, which was the basis of theories such as those developed by Karl Terzaghi,
which were built in the 1940s. The bearing capacity theory of Terzaghi, which is often
regarded as a starting point of contemporary foundation engineering, describes how a
mathematical method can be used to predict the maximum load a soil can support based
solely on its shear strength parameters.
The aim of this study is to investigate the bearing capacity of the existing
structure, dissect and evaluate the various factors affecting soil bearing capacity, which
are soil type, moisture content, depth of foundation, and external loads.
