Quality policy
The quality policy of our company is to provide high quality castings and customer services that
meet our customer’s expectations. We are committed to continually improving our quality of our castings
and increasing Customer Satisfaction through quality management systems.
Our Products- Iron casting is a known procedure being done in manufacturing. This process involves
melting material and poured into a mold.
Process Flow of Iron Castings Company
Creating a process flow for an iron casting company involves several key stages, from raw material
procurement to final product delivery. Here’s a structured overview:
1.Raw Material Procurement: The process begins with sourcing high-quality raw materials,
primarily scrap iron and additives like alloying elements. Reliable suppliers are critical for maintaining
material standards.
2. Melting: The collected scrap iron is fed into a melting furnace, where it is heated to high temperatures
(around 1400°C to 1600°C). This process can utilize various furnace types, including induction furnaces
or electric arc furnaces, depending on the company’s capabilities.
3. Casting Design: Engineers design the casting based on specifications and requirements. This includes
creating detailed CAD models and patterns that dictate the shape and dimensions of the final product.
4. Mold Making: Patterns are used to create molds, typically from sand or metal. The mold-making
process involves forming the sand around the pattern and allowing it to set, resulting in a cavity that
matches the desired shape.
5. Pouring: Once the molds are prepared, the molten iron is carefully poured into them. This step
requires precision to avoid defects and ensure that the metal fills the mold uniformly.
6. Cooling: After pouring, the castings are allowed to cool and solidify, which can take several hours
depending on the size and thickness of the parts. Cooling must be controlled to prevent cracks and
ensure the integrity of the casting.
7. Mold Removal: Once cooled, the molds are broken away to reveal the cast parts. This step may
involve shaking, vibrating, or manually dismantling the molds.
8. Cleaning and Finishing: The castings often require cleaning to remove sand and residual material.
Additional processes like shot blasting, machining, or grinding may be employed to achieve the required
surface finish and dimensional accuracy.
9. Inspection and Quality Control: Each casting undergoes rigorous inspection to ensure it meets the
specified tolerances and quality standards. This may involve non-destructive testing methods like
ultrasonic or radiographic inspection.
10. Packaging and Delivery: Finally, approved castings are packaged appropriately for transportation.
The logistics team coordinates delivery to customers, ensuring timely and safe arrival of the products.
11. Post-Sales Support: After delivery, the company may provide support for installation, maintenance,
and addressing any customer feedback to enhance future production.

1.7 Introduction of the Study
In today's entirely data-driven environment, organizations are replete with islands of data; diverse sources
and generative capacities have transformed business activities. Due to such information overload, the
discipline, which now takes centre stage, is Business Intelligence (BI) analytics. Business management
can cut through this noise to turn the data into actionable insights. This report has looked at all aspects of
BI analytics with a special interest in the significance of BI analytics, methods of application, and its use
in various organizational contexts.
BI analytics encompasses the technical and financial approaches that allow for gathering, integrating,
analyzing, and presenting business data. This range of techniques and tools makes use of both backward-
looking historical information and real-time information to help organizations understand their operations,
customer behaviour, and market trends. Such capability enhance their decision-making processes,
strategize, and ensures greater operational efficiency.
Needless to say, BI analytics is extremely important; this can enable an organization to identify
opportunities, reduce the risk of certain threats, and respond to shifts in market volatility. All types of
analysis- from descriptive analytics that illuminate past performance up through predictive and
prescriptive analytics that describe the future possibilities and suggest the next actions-constitute an
understandable view of business dynamics.
This research explores the seven core types of BI analytics- namely, descriptive, diagnostic, predictive,
prescriptive, real-time, cognitive, and spatial-analytics distinctive features, methodologies, and their
applications in real-life contexts. It applies case studies and the latest trends to conceptualize how
organizations can use BI analytics effectively for competitive advantage and data-driven culture.
Summarily, research into BI analytics gives invaluable insight into how to catalyze informed decision-
making and strategic success. We, therefore, seek in this paper to make the transformative power of
business intelligence clear in all of its details and even more importantly, the principal part in tailoring the

Abstracted summary
A business intelligence solution can carry out reporting and analysis on manufacturing data.
Almost all large companies use different packages of software from the so-called business intelligence
(BI) category. These allow creating various reports and analyses. BI idea was primarily used for business
data, but now many companies like Wonderware, Rockwell are offering solutions for manufacturing data,
so new form of intelligence was formed. It is called Manufacturing intelligence or Enterprise intelligence.
This paper discusses the idea that standard Business Intelligence solutions can be used for simple
reporting of manufacturing data that meets broad ranges of user needs. We applied data from the largest
private employer in Slovakia, U.S. Steel in Kosice and BI solutions named Cognos from IBM and second
from Oracle. Results were presented to management focused on new IT solutions.
A manufacturing based organization performs operations in an environment where there is a need for
speed and efficiency of fast decision making. That is so as to meet the output with compliance by
customers. There are manufacturing systems that collect the operational data, and the data turns out in a
high volume due to the state of the art of the abundant manufacturing operational data.
Having lots of data without the tool to analyze and extracting valuable information from it increased the
time spent by employees focusing on the data itself. Eventually, it delays decision-making processes,
causing products delivery to customers. To fill the gap, we will review the implementation of Business
Intelligence (BI), with an aim of executing the right action at the right time or, in other words, improving
the decision-making process of an organization.
3. Bella Selene Xia ( 2014 )
This paper explores the role of business intelligence and data analysis in improving quality and
efficiency in a consulting company, but does not specifically address iron castings.
The purpose of this paper is the role of business intelligence within a consulting company, and the authors
propose analysis of quality through data analysis and efficiency with various business contexts. The best
processes and tools in data mining are also searched. Management perspectives of data analysis from
Florilla Consulting Company are collected using an inductive research approach. Based on a large sample
of quality data, the technologies of BI have been done with cost-and-benefit analysis to determine whether
or not they represent some strategic necessity for Florilla Consulting Company., –Findings categorize the
best processes and tools of data analysis under different business scenarios. The authors also give
recommendations to a revised process and tools proposed for Florilla Consulting Company that future
research could further test., - The knowledge brought in this paper brings real value to any consulting firm
that wants to take advantage of all the opportunities created by the BI technologies. Quality management
assumes a new dimension when technology is integrated into business, - This research has challenged the
way quality is managed at Florilla Consulting Company. The aim of this paper is to reveal the connection
of BI to quality management by bridging theory with practice through an empirical investigation of a
consultancy company.
Chapter 3
METHODOLOGY
Methodology in research refers to the systematic framework and processes guiding the doing of research
in a rigorous and valid manner. Research methodology, in fact, encompasses the entire overall research
design, together with the choice of a specific kind of research-research type-being either qualitative,
quantitative, or mixed methods-and identification of the population in focus with sampling techniques
employed for data gathering.
Another choice is the description of methods of data collection, which may include, for example, surveys
or interviews and the strategy for analyzing the data as either qualitative or quantitative. The Ethical
consideration constitutes another phase of methodology that details how participants' confidentiality
would be ensured and obtaining an informed consent from the participants. Thus, research methodology
helps in defining each of these components clearly and then provides a structured way to investigate a
particular research question, which eventually adds up in making study findings credible and reliable.
Research methodology simply refers to the practical “how” of a research study. More specifically, it’s
about how a researcher systematically designs a study to ensure valid and reliable results that address
the research aims, objectives and research questions. Specifically, how the researcher went about deciding:
What type of data to collect (e.g., qualitative or quantitative data)
Who to collect it from (i.e., the sampling strategy)
How to collect it (i.e., the data collection method)
How to analyse it (i.e., the data analysis methods)
Research methodology is a science of solving the research problem in a methodical way. It may be termed
as a science of studying how research is conducted scientifically. Here we study the different steps, which
are generally followed by any researcher while studying his research problem along with the rationality
behind them.
To analyse the different strategies used by Business Intelligence Analytics with the study on Business
Intelligence (BI) analytics in an iron castings company focuses on the transformative impact of data-driven
decision-making within the manufacturing sector.
As the iron castings industry faces increasing competition and the demand for high-quality products, the
implementation of BI analytics has become essential for improving operational efficiency and enhancing
product quality.
Research design is the strategic framework that outlines how a research study is going to be carried out,
incorporating the general structure, methodology, and specific procedures that would follow. Such a
framework provides a blueprint of the research process, explaining what kind of study is to be undertaken-
between qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods-and defining the population to be targeted, sampling
strategies, and techniques for collecting data. A well-designed research design should also consider plans
on data analysis, ethical issues, and limitations of the study. A good research design will bring clarity in
research, ensuring that findings are valid, reliable, and relevant to the research problem, hence
systematically leading to an investigation of the topic.
Business intelligence (BI) analytics can significantly enhance the operations and decision-making
processes of an iron castings company. Here are some key objectives for implementing BI analytics in this
context:
Operational Efficiency: Identify bottlenecks in production processes to optimize workflows and reduce
downtime, leading to improved efficiency and reduced costs.
Quality Control: Analyze defect rates and quality metrics to enhance product quality, reduce scrap rates,
and minimize rework costs.
Supply Chain Optimization: Monitor supplier performance and inventory levels to streamline
procurement processes, reduce lead times, and manage stock more effectively.
Market Analysis: Evaluate market trends and customer preferences to inform product development,
pricing strategies, and marketing efforts.
Financial Performance: Analyze sales data, profitability, and cost structures to drive better financial
decision-making and resource allocation.
Customer Insights: Gather and analyze customer feedback and purchasing patterns to improve customer
satisfaction and tailor offerings to specific needs.
Predictive Maintenance: Utilize data analytics to predict equipment failures and schedule maintenance
proactively, reducing downtime and repair costs.
Competitive Analysis: Monitor competitors’ activities and market positioning to identify opportunities
and threats, allowing for more informed strategic planning.
Regulatory Compliance: Track compliance with industry standards and regulations, ensuring that
processes align with safety and environmental requirements.
Employee Performance: Assess workforce productivity and performance metrics to identify training
needs and optimize staff allocation.
Sales Forecasting: Utilize historical sales data to predict future demand, enabling better production
planning and inventory management.
Cost Management: Analyze costs associated with materials, labor, and overhead to identify areas for
cost reduction and improve overall profitability.
By focusing on these objectives, an iron castings company can leverage BI analytics to drive informed
decision-making and enhance overall business performance.

them holds priceless information for future enhancements and strategies.
Surveys and questionnaires are structured data-gathering tools that tend to collect quantitative data from
employees and customers in regard to their perception of BI tools and processes within an iron castings
company. They can be easily circulated through electronic platforms such as Google Forms or
SurveyMonkey. Interview guides might lead one to conduct one-on-one or group interviews. This
approach ensures in-depth discussions with key stakeholders and ensures every topic is covered. Site visits
observation checklists can be used to systematically note the real-time usage of data and production
processes so as to pin-point inefficiencies. For instance, extracting insights from history data on
production and quality is very critical in the utilization of any data analytics tool, say Microsoft Power BI
or Tableau. Reviewing templates in the analysis of existing reports standardized the process so that one
may analyze current effectiveness in business intelligence. Simple feedback forms enable organizations to
obtain continuous and ongoing feedback from employees on the BI systems, while recording devices, such
as a smartphone or digital voice recorder, prove useful for capturing interview discussions and focus
group discussions accurately and doing qualitative analyses. Combining them altogether, these
instruments help in a more comprehensive data gathering that may promote further effective decision-
making and better operational performances.
Designing a sampling plan for BI analytics in an iron castings company indicates how you will draw
participants or data points that are representative of the analysis that you want to present. Here is how you
can do that.
Probability Sampling: All members of a population have known chances of being selected.
Simple Random Sampling: Subjects randomly drawn from the sampling universe. This is possible by
using random number generators.
Stratified Sampling: The population is stratified into sections-strata according to some belief
characteristic, such as department or job, and then random samples are drawn from each stratum to be
representative.
Non-Probability Sampling: The chance of selection by the members is not known.
Purposeful Sampling: Participants are selected for participating in the research based on predetermined
criteria, like experience with BI tools or involvement in decisions that require data-based reasoning.
Convenience Sampling: Accessible participants can be those willing to participate. This includes the
inclusion of employee participants for the simple reason that they are accessible.
5. Sampling Implementation
Describe how the sampling will be carried out in the process, which involves:
How to approach and contact the respondents to participate in the sampling.
How long it will take before the data is collected.
Any consent that will be required, or any ethical considerations about the study.
6. Analysis Plan
State how the data collected will be analyzed to provide insights into any needs for BI to be implemented
by the firm concerning the iron castings.
Conclusion
The sampling plan is such that your data collection for BI analytics will be systematic and representative,
hence more reliable with insights and recommendations on how to improve operations and decision-
making in the company that manufactures iron castings.

INTERPRETATION :
I am fully aware that there is a concept referred to as business analytics; that is, the use of systematic
analytics of data with statistical methods to develop insight into a firm's business in the hope of driving
out effective decisions. Business analytics assumes several forms. There is the descriptive analytic
summarizing historical data; the diagnostic analytic aimed at scrutinizing data to find causes for given
trends; the predictive analytic basing the forecasting of future outcomes on historical data; and
prescriptive analytics, which comes up with optimal solutions. With these analytics techniques, an
organization can understand the patterns, improve operations efficiencies, make better customer
experiences, and eventually leads them toward strategic growth. Business analytics has really become
much important in this data-driven world, through which business organizations are making better
decisions and gaining competitive advantage in their chosen markets.

I like to ensure that analytics reports are quite clear and visually involving and make them easier to
understand quickly; reports should support the offering of interactive dashboards that allow me to
dynamically explore data, drill down to the specific metrics, and trends when needed. Infographics, charts,
and graphs can present insights and make complex data a much easier thing to access. I would like to have
concise summary or executive overviews distilling down to the most important findings and actionable
recommendations so that I could get a feel for what the implications were without having to sift through
copious details. Updating at regular intervals, like monthly or quarterly updates, with some time to discuss
or ask questions for further analysis of trends over time would really help.

INTERPRETATION :
There are several issues in the application of business analytics that may defeat effective analysis and
decision-making: The biggest challenge related to data quality leads to misleading perceptions and poor
business decisions when imprecise, inconsistent, or incomplete datasets are available. The biggest
challenge is integration of data coming from multiple sources since the format and structure may vary
across sources and would complicate analysis. Lack of analytical skill also comes as an issue because not
everyone in the team may have the right knowledge to make sense of data for complex analysis or proper
leveraging of the power of advanced analytics. The second part involves a hard task of convincing
stakeholders that insights derived are adequate and well understood by analytics. Reports from analytics
might be too technical for the reader or will simply lack some good visualization of detail. Finally, the
speed of change in data technology and analytics methodologies requires constant learning and adjustment
that can be an expensive exercise in an endeavour that may finally hobble an organization's capability to
stay ahead. Overcoming these factors is essential to maximize value realized from business analytics.

INTERPRETATION :
In fact, inputting data from different types actually maximizes the production efficiency. More critically,
live operation data contains the metric of machine performance, cycle times to produce, and downtime
incidents-on-hand data. Such data gives the most direct insight into the production process and may point
out bottlenecks and inefficiencies that can act upon fast. In the longer time horizon, history on production
data is also important to see a pattern that may provide for a more accurate forecast and hence plan for
capacity. The quality control data is also important because it points out defects and changes that may
reflect a need for efficiency; learning those factors can automatically point to improvement of the process
with less wastes. An inventory level with the kind of data required from the supply chain supports also the
determination of whether materials are there at the right time, thus preventing production delay. Finally,
employee performance data could help determine workforce efficiency and identify training needs or
procedure changes to achieve increased effectiveness as a whole. Using all this together and analyzing
them, the organizations benefit in decision-making as regards optimization of their processes to find a
fruitful way for actual production.

INTERPRETATION :
I have access mainly to a central dashboard or business intelligence platform that collects data from
multiple sources in one place, presented in a way that is easily accessible. Often in the form of a portal,
this comes with interactive visualizations in which I can drill down into the data, giving me dynamic
options to find the underlying information and view it according to specific criteria, such as time frames,
product categories, or geographic regions. Mobile accessibility is also quite an important requirement as I
can view reports on-the-go; whether I am in the office or traveling, I can ensure that I'm updated about
things happening around. Also, I will appreciate if scheduled reports are sent to my email account along
with a summary of the key metrics and insights on a regular basis. Many times, generating ad-hoc reports
as needed is really important because that would have allowed me the ability to drill down into those areas
of interest or specifically the urgent questions being asked. After all, a mix of interactive dashboards,
mobile access, and scheduled reports gets me closer to really being able to apply BI for smarter decision-
making.
Q.6 Which data Visualization type do you prefer for analyzing production data?
RESPONSES Bars charts Line graphs Pie charts Tables

INTERPRETATION :
Clear graphical representations such as bar charts and line graphs are much more useful to an analyst's eye
because it is easily applied for drawing trends and comparisons-which is the exact form of analysis I need
to draw from the data on production. With this, it makes good comparison between categories like
productions across various shifts or machines that one can easily see where exactly the differences come
in. The strength lies in using a line graph because value changes over time and will prove quite easy to
observe some important metrics like production rates or incident downtimes over days, weeks, and
months. Additionally, I also find a pie chart useful in the composition of production metrics, although less
frequently used, such as proportion of total defects by type. Combining such visualizations into
dashboards allows one to see everything at a glance for more factual understanding of production
efficiency and makes better decisions. A combination of such visualization types in general may give a
way to communicate complex data in an accessible manner where insight comes quickly to be acted upon.

into meaningful information to identify trends or point out areas of inefficiency and opportunities for
improvement within an organization. I will, therefore, monitor performance indicators specific to the
strategic objectives of the company in real time, thus giving room for data-driven adjustments.
Additionally, I must enhance the strength of data-driven culture with the team so that they are motivated
toward collaboration and sharing knowledge anchored on BI analysis. Empowering all stakeholders
throughout the organization to make better decisions and, hence, better results-whether these are in
production processes, customer engagement, or business strategy-can no longer simply be a matter of data
analysis.

core functions of the business, and I am able to monitor trends directly related to production efficiency
and customer demand through performance metrics. Besides that, I collect information from several
sources, including CRM systems and financial databases, to get a better understanding of how a number of
factors play upon overall performance. This multi-faceted approach will ensure that my analyses are
holistic and data-driven with resultant more accurate conclusions and actionable recommendations. Thus,

INTERPRETATION :
For me, reliability and the ability of suppliers to meet the standards of quality and on-time delivery would
be the most important considerations when selecting the supplier. For me, for reliability, I do know that if
their suppliers are reliable enough, then the support given by that supplier is reasonably ensured on time. I
really focus on suppliers with a history of quality output. Defects and low homogeneity in products
provided can hurt our operations much and then lead to customer dissatisfaction; effective communication
and responsiveness are also important since they help in teamwork as well as solving problems that may
emerge. Sustainability and ethics increasingly form part of my decision-making process as partnering with
suppliers who share our values can really help improve our brand reputation and contribute to long-run
success. Bottom line, it all boils down to the quality relationship with the supplier derived from the level
of communication and values, sooner or later.
Q.12 What do you consider the biggest benefit of using BI analytics in our company?
Total Percentage
% 57.1% 60.7% 25% 28.6%
INTERPRETATION :
This is one of the greatest strengths of BI analytics for our company; it lets us use data in decision making,
always improving the overall efficiency and strategic planning of the organization. BI analytics transforms
raw data into an actionable step, allowing us to identify trends, track key performance indicators, pinpoint
areas of improvement, and carry out action points across different departments. This continues into making
better and more informed decisions through being able to appropriately allocate resources, optimize the
production process, and react to several changes in the market ahead of time. BI analytics helps develop a
culture of transparency and accountability through being able to track performance metrics and collaboration
based on real-time data. All things considered, leveraging BI analytics will make our organization more
competitive, agile in catering to shifting demands, and sustainable by having our strategies settled in line
with actionable insights from our operations.
