Adhkar After Salah
The Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said: “The angels invoke blessings on
any of you who remains in his prayer place as long as he does not invalidate his
ablution, saying, ‘O Allaah, forgive him; O Allaah, have mercy on him.’” [Maalik,
Al-Bukhari and others]
1) Thawbaan who said: “When Allaah’s Messenger ( )صىل اهلل عليه و سلمfinished his Prayer
he would seek forgiveness three times,
and say:
ْ َ َ َْ َ َ َ ْ َ َ َ ُ َ ه ُ ه َ ْ َ ه َ ُ َ ْ َ ه
اإلك َرا
ِ تباركت يا ذا اْلال ِل و، ومِنك السالم،اللهم أنت السالم
(O Allah You are the Flawless One, and from You comes peace and security. Blessed
are You, Possessor of Majesty and Honour) [Muslim 591]
2) The Prophet ( )صىل اهلل عليه و سلمused to say after every Obligatory Prayer:
(None has the right to be worshiped but Allah alone, He has no partner, His is the
dominion and His is the praise, and He is Able to do all things. O Allah, there is none
who can withhold what You give, and none may give what You have withheld; and the
might of the mighty person cannot benefit him against You) [al-Bukhari 844]
3) Ibn az-Zubayr used to say at the end of every Prayer when he had given the
Salutation: and he said: “Allah’s Messenger ( )صىل اهلل عليه و سلمused to repeat these words
after every Prayer.”

َل إَِل إَِل اهلل ُمل ِِصي َل الِين ولو ك ِره الَكف ِرون، َل ال ِعمة وَل الفضل وَل اثلناء اْلسن،نعبد إَِل إِياه
(None has the right to be worshiped but Allah alone, He has no partner, His is the
dominion and His is the praise and He is Able to do all things. There is no power and no
might except by Allah. None has the right to be worshiped but Allah, and we do not
worship any other besides Him. His is grace, and His is bounty and to Him belongs the
most excellent praise. None has the right to be worshiped but Allah. (We are) sincere in
making our religious devotion to Him, even though the disbelievers may dislike it)

(a) Saying: ‘Subhaanallaah’, ‘al-hamdu lillaah’, and ‘Allaahu Akbar’- thirty three times
each after every Prayer.
[al-Bukhari (no. 843) and Muslim (no. 595) from a hadeeth of Abu Hurairah-radiyallaahu
`anhu]
or (b) Saying: ‘Subhaanallaah’ -thirty-three times, ‘al-hamdu lillaah’ -thirty-three times,
and ‘Allaahu akbar’ -thirty-four times-after every Prayer. [Reported by Muslim (no. 596)
from a hadeeth of Ka`b ibn `Ujrah-radiyallaahu `anhu]

وه َو لَع ك َش ٍء قـدير،اْل ْمد ُ الملك
َ وَل َ ح
َُل،ـدهُ َل َشيك َُل َل إَل
whoever does so after every Prayer then his sins will be forgiven even if they are
like the foam of the sea.
or (e) Saying: ‘Subhaanallaah’ -ten times, ‘al-hamdu lillaah’ -ten times, ‘Allaahu akbar’ -
ten times.

5) Recite last three surahs once each (Surah Ikhlas, Surah Falaq & Surah Nass)
Uqbah ibn `Aamir who said: Allah’s Messenger ( )صىل اهلل عليه و سلمcommanded me to
recite the two Soorahs of seeking refuge (al-Mu’awwidhatayn) at the end of every
Prayer..”
(At-Tabarani with the addition of Surah Ikhlas and according to Abu Dawud’s narration
al-Mu’awwidhatayn includes Surah Ikhlas.)

6) Recite Ayat ul-Kursi
Abu Umamah reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him,
said, “Whoever recites the verse of the Throne (ayat al-kursi) after every
obligatory prayer, there will be nothing standing between him and his entering
Paradise except death.”

Narrated by Ibn ‘Umar that he said: Whoever says following every (obligatory)
prayer and when he goes to bed, three times..,

ِ ارَكات المب ِ َوَك َِماتِ اهلل ِ اتلهام, ِ ع َدد الشفعِ َوالوِتر, ريا

(Allah is Most Great the number of the even and the odd, and the blessed, pure, perfect
words of Allah)
and Laa ilaaha ill-Allah (there is no god but Allah) the same number of times, i.e
say three times

الط ليِبَاتِ المب ِ َوَك َِم, ِ ع َدد الشفعِ َوالوِتر،اهلل
ِ ات اهلل ِ اتلهام َل إَل إَِل
(There is no god but Allah the number of the even and the odd, and the blessed, pure,
perfect words of Allah)
..they will be light for him in his grave, and light on the jisr (bridge), and light on
the siraat (bridge over Hell), until they admit him to Paradise, or until he enters
Paradise.
[Collected by Ibn Abee Shaybah in his Musannaf 10/229 (29256). Al-Hindi in Kanz
graded this hadeeth as having a Hasan Isnad. This hadeeth has the ruling of being
attributed to the Prophet ( )ﷺas Ibn Umar is speaking about the unseen and this can
only learned from the Messenger.(Ikhtasar ulumul Hadith)]
Narrated Ibn ‘Abbaas ()ريض اهلل عنه, that the Messenger of Allaah ( )ﷺsaid: “My Lord
came to me tonight in the most beautiful form…” and in this hadeeth he said that
Allaah said, “O Muhammad! When you have performed Salat then say:
ُ ْ َ َْ َ َ َْ ْ ْ َ ًَْ َ َ َ ْ ََ َ َ ْ ُ ْ َ ْ َ َ َ ْ َْ َ ْ َ ُ َ ْ َ ه ُ ه ل
َ َ ْ ك َر ِ َ ُ ه
ون
ٍ ِي ِإَوذا أردت بِعِبادِك ف ِتنة فاقبِض ِِن إَِلك غري مفت
ِ ات وحب المساك اللهم إ ِ ِّن أسألك ف ِعل اْلرياتِ وترك المن
(O Allaah, I ask You (to enable me) to do good deeds and avoid evil deeds and to love
the poor. And If You will that some trial should befall Your slaves, then take me to You
[i.e., cause me to die] without having subjected to that trial).”
From a man of the Ansar ( )ﺭﺿﻲ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﻋﻨﻬﻢwho said: “I heard the Messenger of Allah ( )ﷺsay
after the Salah:

ور َ ْ ك َأن
ُ ت اتله هو َ ه ُ ه ْ ْ َ ُ ْ َ َه ه
اللهم اغفِر ِِل وتب لَع إن
[Its Isnad is Sahih. Authenticated by the Imam Al-Albani ( )رمحه اهللin: Al-Silsilah Al-
Ahadith Al-Sahihah, 2603]

َوع َمال ُمتَق هبال، َورِ ْزقا َط ليِبا،الل ُه هم إ ِ ِّن أ ْسألك عِلما ناف ِعا
(O Allah, I ask You for knowledge that is of benefit , a good provision , and deeds that
will be accepted) (Recite in Arabic after the Fajr prayer)

ِير ِ َل الملك وَل اْلمد ُي ِِي وي ِميت وهو لَع،َشيك َل ِ َل إَِل إَِل اهلل وحده َل
Laa ‘ilaaha ‘illallaahu wahdahu laa shareeka lahu, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu yuhyee
wa yumeetu wa Huwa ‘alaa kulli shay’in Qadeer.
(None has the right to be worshiped but Allah alone, Who has no partner. His is the
dominion and His is the praise. He brings life and He causes death, and He is Able to
do all things)
