INTEREST INVENTORY OF SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM


The transition from high school to college represents a critical juncture in students'
academic and career trajectories. However, many senior high school students struggle
to make informed decisions regarding their future academic paths due to a lack of
understanding of their personal interests and how these interests align with potential
college programs. Despite the availability of career guidance resources, there remains a
significant gap in knowledge regarding the specific interests that influence students'
choices and how these interests can be effectively assessed.

This research aims to address the following questions:


1. What is the demographic profile of senior high school students in terms of:
 Age
 Sex
 Academic program or track

2. What specific interests do senior high school students have that significantly
influence their decisions about future academic pursuits in college?

3. How does participation in interest assessment and career guidance programs


impact the interests of senior high school students and their subsequent
academic choices?

By exploring these questions, this study will provide a quantitative analysis of the
interests of senior high school students, contributing to a deeper understanding of how
these interests guide their academic trajectories. The findings will be crucial for
developing tailored educational strategies that resonate with students' preferences,
ultimately enhancing their engagement and success as they transition to higher
education.
