Who am I? Over the course of my life, I have always asked myself this question, and I
am always left with tangled strings that make up who I am. In academics, in the pursuit of
constantly performing well, there lies a persistent need to seek approval and recognition:
academic validation. In fortunate times, this drives us to stay motivated; however, it also has
numerous detrimental effects on our overall well-being.
Furthermore, behind every score attained are countless sleepless nights that are
spent diving into the wonders of education. Having our hard work recognized and applauded
is something we are all eager to experience. But unfortunately, at certain times, things tend
to go otherwise, leading to overworked and tired bodies.
In conclusion, being validated academically fuels us to keep going, but amidst this
motivation, we shall not forget how this touches aspects of our lives where its disconcerting
effects are evident. And so, ladies and gentlemen, let me ask you a question. Who are you?
