TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

WARRANTY AND SERVICES DURING THE


WARRANTY PERIOD
A. The warranty period for all components of the Audio Visual System and their
installation shall be a minimum of one (1) years from the date of substantial
completion. The date of substantial completion shall be the date when all
components have been certified by the Consultant and accepted by the
Owner to be complete in accordance with the definition of substantial
completion.
B. All components and their installations shall be free from defects. Any
defective material or workmanship and any resulting damage to work of
other trades shall be replaced or repaired as directed during the Warranty
Period. Comply with General Conditions, agreeing to repair or replace any
components of the Audio Visual System that have failed within the warranty
period.
C. Schedule repair work with the Owner's representative to prevent
interference with normal building activities.
D. The Base Bid price shall include the cost of all replacement parts during the
warranty period and all of the associated installation costs and all of the
costs associated with the repair of components during the warranty period.
E. Replace or repair all supplied defective installations. Respond and be on site
within four hours of the Owner placing a system trouble call for items of an
immediate nature (e.g. failed component). Response to Warranty call out by
the Owner shall be within 24 hours for items not requiring immediate
attention. Work to trouble shoot and identify the cause of the Audio Visual
System or component failure shall begin immediately and shall continue
until repaired to the satisfaction of the Owner.
F. Any software modifications or upgrades that become standard product
offerings from the Audio Visual System subcontractor and/or Audio Visual
System equipment vendors during the warranty period shall be brought to
the attention of the Owner and, if the Owner wishes, shall be provided at no
additional cost to the Owner.
G. The Audio Visual System subcontractor shall maintain an inventory of
common components in the local office for the replacement of failed
components.
H. Provide replacement components within the specified time periods for the
following components. The subcontractor shall guarantee to the Owner that
the delivery of replacement components will be provided within the specified
time periods.

SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
A. This specification covers background and foreground music systems,
audio visual projection and display, routing, switching and digital
information display requirements for the entire development.
B. All IP enabled AV equipment shall be connected to the Data
Communications Network so as to provide central control, and status
monitoring of devices, where available.

MAIN BALLROOM FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION (Function Room)


C. C. The objective in design of the Ballroom Audio Visual facilities is to
provide high quality but simple to use equipment that can be set up ready
for use with limited input from the operator’s technical staff but also to
provide the AV signal cabling and power supply infrastructure in order to
provide a flexible, multi-use environment that can be utilised by external
equipment rental and production companies to stage more complex
events.
D. The Ballroom audio visual systems shall be designed to accommodate the
following:
1. Power point or other PC based presentation.
2. Audio reproduction from PC based presentations.
3. Audio reproduction from wired or wireless microphones.
4. Video Conference via portable self-contained unit.
5. Large Screen video / data display via ceiling mounted projectors
and motorised projection screens.
6. 4K UTP Transmitter
7. Multi Format UTP Transmitter
8. Analogue AV Connection Panels
9. Lighting and Equipment suspension via Structural Hanging points.
E. The Ballroom are to be equipped as follows:
1. Primary and Secondary Motorised projection screens, recessed
ceiling mount, 16:10 format at height approximately 1.75 metres
bottom of screen above F.F.L.
2. Primary Ceiling mounted data video projectors on motorised
reveals, WUXGA 1920 x 1200 resolution.
3. Three Secondary Ceiling mounted data video projectors on
motorised reveals, WUXGA 1920 x 1,200 resolution.
4. Wall box connections for audio, microphone, video and mains
power.
5. Floor box connections for audio, microphone, HDMI and PC/laptop.
6. Integrated wireless remote control system using colour touch
sensitive panel mounted in control niche station.
7. Wall mounted AV and room lighting control points.
8. Information displays on room entry locations.
9. In wall self-powered DSP programme loudspeakers adjacent to
Main screen positions.
10.Wall mounted self-powered loudspeakers
11.Ceiling mounted loudspeakers.
F. Cabling and Mains Power Infrastructure
1. To provide flexibility of use and to accommodate the requirements
of rental and event companies a series of wall mounted AV facility
panels is to be provided. The location of facility panels is to be

coordinated with the Interior Designer and an installation detail
developed whereby the panel is concealed by a hinged door to
allow access to the panel and a hinged flap detail to provide a
sufficient opening for cable exit whilst the main door is closed.
2. Locations for the AV facility panels are to be as detailed on the
layout drawings.
3. Bulk power will also be required adjacent to the AV facility panels,
this is to be provided as dedicated show power 32A Three Phase
outlets (In each Ballroom division) and 125A outlets located B.O.H.
adjacent to the service corridor.
4. Note: AV Contractor shall provide all AV facility panel mounted
services only. Mains outlets, mains cabling and termination to be
carried out by the Electrical Contractor.
5. Note: Contractor shall provide all Audio Visual UTP and Fiber
patching facilities that are not part of the client’s converged
network, within the Ballroom Meeting rooms, Audio Visual, Control
Rooms and Audio Visual Equipment Rooms.
G. Audio Systems
1. The installed audio systems will be suitable for all enhanced
background and foreground music and speech reinforcement
requirements for meetings and conferences as well as the
background music requirements of gala dinners and cocktail
events.
2. The Ballroom is divisible into three sections, the design of audio
visual systems for these areas shall permit the divisions to be used
as individual spaces or as a single large space in conjunction with
the associated pre function areas.
3. Ballroom divisions shall therefore be considered as independent
presentation areas with the capability of combing zones in any
logical combination. Combined zones shall be operable as though
they were single areas both in terms of audio reproduction and
control functionality.
4. All Ballroom areas are to be provided with independent audio
systems but with connection and access to the central BGM
sources. Local control panels for source and volume shall be
provided in each divisible zone of the Ballroom via the touch
panels.
5. The audio systems shall be capable of high fidelity reproduction of
the audio from PC based presentations, CD player or DVD player as
well as reproduction from wired and wireless radio microphones.
6. Wall mounted AV facility panels shall provide a means of
connecting microphones and other audio sources to the audio
system.
7. Ceiling speaker layout shall be coordinated with Interior Design
reflected ceiling plans and the system shall be designed to provide
even coverage (+/- 3dB) and to be capable of an Aweighted sound
pressure level of 10dB above ambient noise level with sufficient
headroom to cope to cope with transient peaks. Enhanced BGM
extended bandwidth frequency response of 45Hz to 20 kHz (-10db)
shall be provided with the addition of sub-woofer loudspeakers
operating in the 45Hz to 180Hz range.
8. In order to augment the ceiling mounted ceiling speaker system,
pairs of in wall self-powered DSP loudspeakers are to be installed

either side of the primary and secondary projection screen
positions.
9. The audio systems shall be designed to support the following
principle modes of operation.
10.Audio signals from the AV facility panels are reticulated directly to
the Media Control Room where they are manually mixed via an
audio mixer(s) and the sent for playback through the installed
loudspeakers.
11.Audio signals from the AV facility panels are reticulated directly to
the Media Control Room where they are automatically mixed via a
DSP Processor and the sent for playback through the installed
loudspeakers systems.
H. Video Systems
1. Ballroom video system facilities shall include the display of Digital
and Analogue Video Formats, PC data and video from DVD,
Videoconference or IPTV sources.
2. Data Video projectors shall be provided in the locations shown in
the layout drawings and shall be installed onto motorised projector
lifts so that they are concealed above ceiling level when not in use.
3. The Primary Projector is to have a minimum native resolution of
WUXGA 1920 x 1200.
4. Secondary Projectors are to have a minimum native resolution of
WUXGA 1920 x 1200.
5. Projection screens shall be motorised and recessed into the ceiling.
Screen dimensions are to be as detailed in the drawings and
provided in a 16:10 format. (Final screen dimensions shall be
calculated in order to provide the largest practical image size
whilst maintaining a screen height of minimum 1.75mtr above
F.F.L. when lowered.
6. In special circumstances a stage may be utilised, in this instance
the Video System should be flexible to allow a manual adjustment
of both the projector and projection screen to compensate for the
additional height requirement of the stage platform, the stage
platform may vary from 350mm to 500mm in height and an
allowance should be made for all possible scenarios.
7. Inputs for video and computer sources will be available from the
AV facility panels. It shall bepossible via the AV control room
master video matrix to display a single source onto all projection
screens.
I. Control Systems
1. An intrinsic part of the Ballroom AV systems shall be a control
system that will allow the simple and logical operation of the
equipment simultaneously via the AV control rooms, and from
wireless touch screen panels in the Ballrooms. The purpose of the
user interface is to allow presenters to set up the room and operate
the system without the need of a specialist audio visual technician.
2. Control over the Ballroom AV systems and the architectural
lighting system is to be provided by wireless touch sensitive
remote control panels (iPAD) located in wall mounted control niche
stations.
3. The control user interfaces will be mounted in docking stations
that will power/recharge the unit when not in use.

4. The objective in providing remote control systems is to simplify the
operation of the equipment for the guest and to therefore minimise
the attendance required from hotel staff.
5. A master touch panel will be located within the Audio Visual
Control room for use by a control technician. The master panel will
be programmed with a greater degree of functionality allowing the
technician to manipulate, set-up and adjust the audio visual
system. The master panel will be such that it will allow for wireless
operation, so the technician can perform operational tasks from
either the control room or ballroom areas. A docking station will be
provided so that the master panel can be utilised from a table
surface, it will also provide power and charge the internal battery
required for the wireless operation.
6. The functionality of the control systems shall include:
a. One button push set up of Ballroom (i.e. automatic power
up of projector, lower screen
b. and select lighting scene from a single button push).
c. Individual control over source select to projector.
d. Individual control over volume level.
e. Individual control over lighting dimmer scenes.
f. Selection of room combines modes.

MEETING ROOM FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION


A. The objective in design of the Meeting Rooms Audio Visual facilities is to
provide high quality but simple to use equipment that can be set up ready
for use with minimal input from technical staff.
B. The objective in design of the VC Room Audio Visual facilities is identical
to that of the meeting rooms, however the system design shall further
allow for a dual screen integrated video conferencing system.
C. An intrinsic part of the meeting room systems will be a control system
that will allow the simple and logical operation of the equipment. The
purpose of the user interface is to allow presenters to set up the room
and operate the system without the need of a specialist audio visual
technician.
D. Floor and Wall mounted AV panels shall provide a means of connecting
client’s computer and portable video or videoconference equipment to
the system.
E. Cabling from the connection panels shall be reticulated via the AV control
room routed via the dedicated AV matrix switchers to the display device.
(Refer to layout drawings and legend for floor box and AV Niche types).
F. Note: The floor box shall be provided by others but the floor box AV
connection panel shall be provided by the AV contractor.
G. The size and location of facility panels shall be coordinated to provide for
Mains Power, Voice and Data outlets.
H. The Meeting Room audio visual systems will be designed to accommodate
the following:
1. Power point or other PC based presentation.
2. DVD playback from PC drive.
3. Audio reproduction from local or remote sources.
4. Wireless presentation connectivity.
5. 4K UTP transmitter
6. UTP Receiver
7. Direct to projector VGA connection.
8. Video Conference via a portable self-contained unit meeting rooms
only.
9. Meeting Rooms shall be equipped as follows:-
i. HD Projector.
ii. Floor mounted connections for Digital and Analogue PC,
Video and Audio.
iii. Integrated wireless remote control system using hand held
Wi- Fi remote control unit mounted in wall docking station.
iv. Wall mounted self-powered programme loudspeakers (VC
Room Only).

BOARDROOM FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION


A. Note: The VC shall be identically equipped as the meeting rooms with the
inclusion of dual screen LED flat screen displays and a dedicated video
conferencing system with integral camera and microphone system.
B. Note: The Audio Visual Contractor shall configure and integrate the video
conferencing system so that content from the AV system shall be available for
transmission and sharing applications via the video conferencing codec.
C. Note: The floor box shall be provided by others but the floor box AV
connection panel shall be provided by the AV contractor.
D. Floor and Wall mounted AV panels shall provide a means of connecting
client’s computer and portable video equipment to the system.
E. Cabling from the connection panels shall be reticulated via the AV control
room routed via the dedicated AV matrix switcher to the display device.
F. The size and location of facility panels shall be coordinated to provide for
voice and data outlets.
G. The VC Room audio visual systems will be designed to accommodate the
following:-
1. Power point or other PC based presentation.
2. DVD playback from PC drive.
3. Wireless presentation connectivity.
4. 4K UTP transmitter.
5. UTP Receiver.
6. Direct to projector VGA connection.
7. Audio reproduction from local or remote sources.
8. Dedicated video conference unit.
H. The VC Room shall be equipped as follows:-
1. HD projector and dual HD flat screen displays.
2. Video Conferencing Codec, HD Precision Camera, Boundary Microphone.
3. Floor mounted connections Digital and Analogue for PC, Video and Audio.
4. Integrated remote control system using hand held remote control mounted in
docking station.
5. Wall mounted self-powered programme loudspeakers.

GYMNASIUM AND FITNESS CENTRE FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION


A. The Gymnasium and Fitness area audio visual systems will be designed to
accommodate the following:-
1. Replay of IPTV to wall mounted LCD screens.
2. Foreground music system.
3. Local source and volume control panel.
4. Connection to central music servers.
5. Local audio connection for fitness trainers.

SPA FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION


A. The SPA audio visual systems will be designed to accommodate the
following:-
1. Background music system.
2. Independent music zone for each treatment room.
3. Local source and volume control panel.
4. Connection to central music servers.
5. Wall mounted iPod docking station.

F&B OUTLET FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION


A. The F&B outlet audio visual systems will be designed to accommodate the
following:-
1. Foreground music system.
2. Independent music zone for each outlet.
3. Multiple speaker circuits within the outlet.
4. Local source and volume control panel.
5. Connection to central music servers.

PRODUCTS
MEETING ROOM PRESENTATION SYSTEMS
Ceiling Mounted Video Data Projector
A. Ceiling mounted projectors on motorised projector lifts shall be provided in
all meeting rooms.
B. A suitable zoom lens shall be provided to completely fill the projection
surface of the screen at the projector throw distance indicated on the layout
drawings.
C. Note: The contractor shall ensure that the projected image is uniform across
the projection screen surface, on the left and right hand side, top and bottom,
and corner to corner in the vertical, diagonal and horizontal planes.
D. The specification of the ceiling mount projector shall be as follows:
1. Output: 4,000 Lumens
2. Light Source: Laser Diode
3. Inputs: Minimum 4 x HDMI
4. Resolution: Native WUXGA (1920 x 1200)
5. Contrast: 8,000:1
6. Aspect Ratio: 16:10

Motorised Projector Lift


A. Electrically operated scissor projector lifts shall be provided in each of the
meeting rooms and meeting room partitions where indicated in the layout
drawings.
B. The projector lift shall lower the projector from a storage position to a show
position for operation. The lift shall be supplied with a low voltage controller
and a standard video cable management system (retainers located in the rear of
the lift).
C. The projector shall be raised and lowered by 2 sets of scissors positioned on
each side of the projector. A precision grooved drum shall insure accurate, level
tracking and consistent screen image. The projector weight shall be suspended
by two 3/16” steel cables capable of supporting 50Kg each.
D. The lift shall be operated by a 220V/50Hz reversible, thermally protected and
lubricated gear motor.
E. The lift shall be controlled via a contact closure from the AV control system.

F. The lift shall be protected by a fail-safe drum lock system which insures fail-
safe lowering of the projector.
G. The lift shall be supplied with a self-aligning, lipped closure system complete
with ceiling framework.

Motorised Projection Screen


A. The Projection Screen shall be electrically operated 240 volt (50 Hz). Shall
have specially designed motor mounted inside the roller with a patented noise
silencer to be three wire quick reversal type, oiled for life, with automatic
thermal overload cut-out, integral gears, capacitor and an electric brake to
prevent coasting. To have pre-set but adjustable limit switches to automatically
stop picture surface in the “up” and “down” positions. The roller to be of rigid
metal, 3" in diameter. Screen fabric to be flame retardant and mildew resistant
fiberglass with Matte White picture surface with black masking borders
standard. Bottom of fabric shall be formed into a pocket holding a 3/8" diameter
metal rod.
B. Case to be painted white 21-gauge steel, hexagon in shape with flat back to
prevent scraping fabric. Case end caps to be heavy duty, allowing no exposed
roller pins. End caps shall form sturdy brackets for wall or ceiling installation.
To be complete with three position control switch with cover plate.
Screen to be listed by Underwriters’ Laboratories and CSA.
C. The specification of the ceiling mount projector shall be as follows:-
1. Screen Size: As indicated on drawings
2. Aspect Ratio: 16:10 Video
3. Screen Surface: Matte White, Seamless, Flame retardant
& mildew resistant
4. Screen Gain: 1.0
5. Viewing Angle: 50 degrees.

Wireless Media Connection


A. A wireless media system shall be provided for each meeting room, boardroom
and ballroom.
B. The specification shall be as follows:-
1. The base system shall incorporate an integrated wireless access point.
2. The base unit shall incorporate a Miracast receiver and AirPlay receiver.
3. Supported output resolution shall be 1920 x 1080 at 60Hz with HDCP.
4. The Base Unit shall be permanently connected to a HDMI input on the
projector or flat screen display.
5. The system shall allow a PC or MAC user connect and wirelessly display their
presentation using a WiFi direct (WiDi) connection to the base station.
6. The system shall also support smartphone or tablet (either iOS or Android-
powered).

Apple TV
C. An Apple TV device shall be provided in order to provide wireless
connectivity of Apple iPAD devices to the flat screen display or projector via
Apple AirPlay.

Local Connection
A. A legacy VGA and audio connection panel shall be provided using a direct
connection the HD projector. (This does not route via the UTP matrix)
Digital Media Transmitter (4K)
A. A floor box mounted transmitter plate shall be provided capable of
transmitting 4K HDMI signals to the central matrix switcher located in the
audio visual control room.
A. The transmitter shall include the following outputs types and connections. 7.
4K HDMI (DVI & DisplayPort)
B. The transmitter shall include the following control port types for remote
device control.
1. Serial RS-232 bi-directional communication.
2. Infrared (IR) control.
C. The receiver shall meet the following minimum requirements:
HDMI digital video, audio, and control output
1. One (1) 19-pin Type A HDMI female connector
2. Supports HDMI with Deep Color and 3D.
3. Supports 4K.
4. Supports DVI-D with adaptor.

Motorised Projector Lift


A. Electrically operated scissor projector lifts shall be provided in each of the

tracking and consistent screen image. The projector weight shall be suspended
by two 3/16” steel cables capable of supporting 50Kg each.

lubricated gear motor.
E. The lift shall be controlled via a contact closure from the AV control system.

thermal overload cut-out, integral gears, capacitor and an electric brake to
prevent coasting. To have pre-set but adjustable limit switches to automatically
stop picture surface in the “up” and “down” positions. The roller to be of rigid
metal, 3" in diameter. Screen fabric to be flame retardant and mildew resistant
fiberglass with Matte White picture surface with black masking borders
standard. Bottom of fabric shall be formed into a pocket holding a 3/8" diameter
metal rod.

B. AV facility panels shall be custom fabricated, engraved, and terminated as
detailed in the tender installation details drawings.
C. Note: Mains, show power and cable pass through are indicative and for MEP
information only, these items are to be provided and installed by the electrical
contractor, the AV contractor shall be responsible for the coordination of the
services onto the facility panel. It shall be the responsibility of the Electrical
contractor for providing cable, connections, terminations and testing of the
electrical circuits.
D. Note: DATA/LAN shall be routed through to the local IDF room the AV
contractor shall be responsible for the coordination for the services with the
structured communication cabling contractor. It shall be the responsibility of
the structured communication cabling contractor for providing cable
connections terminations and testing of these circuits.
E. The AV face plates shall be installed within custom fabricated enclosures
within the wall detail.
F. The AV contractor shall be responsible for coordination of the final locations
with the architect and interior designer as locations design intent has been
outlined within the installation detail and layout drawings.

devise an opening that will incorporate a piano hinge mechanism so that exiting

be responsible to ensure that the power provisions are included as required to

channels. Onboard processing shall include 5-band parametric EQ, delay, and
gain.
B. Horizontal coverage shall be 120 degrees. Vertical coverage shall be variable
from 5 degrees to 30 degrees in 5-degree increments. Vertical beam steering
shall be from ±30 degrees in 1-degree increments.
C. Performance specifications for a typical production unit shall be as follows,

digital input. Two AVB-enabled Network ports shall be included for input from

UL and CE operating voltage range shall be 100 to 240 V AC. The AC power
connector shall be PowerCon.
F. The loudspeaker shall include two control ports: one Phoenix 6-pin male
connector for selecting onboard presets and reporting loudspeaker faults; and
one Phoenix 5-pin male connector for triggering emergency mute and input

G. The AVB-enabled Network ports shall also provide computer control of the
loudspeaker via Meyer Sound’s Compass control software. The Compass control

drivers and (48) 20 mm tweeters. Maximum peak SPL shall be 106 dB peak at

Structural Hanging Points
A. Fixed structural hanging points will be provided as an additional support
system above the suspended ceiling.
B. The structural support device shall be designed to hang heavy duty theatrical
lighting instruments by means of attaching motorised or manual winch pulleys
systems.
C. The devices shall be permanently installed and shall be located behind a 400
mm x 400 mm hinged access panel cover on the finished surface of the ceiling.
D. The support device shall be constructed of heavy gauge steel. It shall consist
of two basic components: the top section which permanently mounts to the
structure of the building, and the sliding section which can be raised and
lowered. The top section shall have installation mounting points for attachment
to the building structure. The bottom section will require an Eye type ring detail
so that hooks can be affixed to suspend motor/manual pulley systems.
E. Note: Primary supports to be provided by the Main contractor, AV contractor
to provide a design intent drawing for approval.
F. The suspension device must be permanently to the ceiling slab by means of
chemical fixings (Note: compression fixing types will not be used) if this is not
achievable it must be fastened to substantial supports above the ceiling in
which it is mounted.
G. It is rated to hold up to 1000 pounds. The overhead load bearing structure
should have a safety factor incorporated into its own structure of minimum
10:1.
H. Note: It shall be the responsibility of the AV contractor to have an
independent structural engineer certify the structural hanging points loading,
and provide SWL tags at each point.
I. Note: The unit shall be a custom design by the contractor design intent has
been outlined within the drawing documentation.

BACKGROUND AND FOREGROUND MUSIC SYSTEM
A. The objective in design of the music systems shall be to provide high quality
background audio through all public areas of the building and high quality
foreground music for restaurants, bars and lounges.
B. Background music system amplification and foreground music system power
supplies will be located in the audio visual control room.
C. Music playback in public areas (background music) shall be provided using
ceiling mounted loudspeakers.
D. Ceiling speaker circuits shall not exceed 8 loudspeakers per circuit.
E. Ceiling speakers shall be tapped at 25W.
F. Music playback in restaurants and bars (foreground music) shall be provided
using self-powered wall mounted loudspeakers.
G. All music signals for the music systems shall originate from digital audio
servers that have been preloaded with profiled music playlists.
H. The music head end equipment shall be located in a dedicated equipment
rack in the audio visual
control room.
I. The music systems will be independent of the Fire / Voice Alarm system and
an interface provided
between the background music system and the fire evacuation system, in
compliance with standards
BS5839, in order that the background music system is automatically muted in
the event of an alarm
condition.
J. The fibre optic infrastructure cabling required to support the audio LAN shall
be supplied by the
Communications Cabling contractor.
K. The UTP infrastructure cabling required to support the audio LAN shall be
supplied by the
Communications Cabling contractor.
L. All music for the development shall be provided from digital audio servers.
The servers shall be rack
mounted.
M. Music content for the server channels shall be stored in digital format on 80
GB drives. Each channel
shall be provided with a pre-loaded profiled and themed music selection
supplied by a specialist
company. The final selection of themes and genres shall be carried out in
coordination with the client.
The server shall be programmable so as to play out music tracks in a random
order with selection of

tracks filtered by tempo and style. Server shall be programmable for start and
end time on a daily,

all music content shall be
licensed for mechanical copyright. All music files shall be balanced during
encoding to provide
consistent and even volume levels between tracks and between channels.
P. All digital music servers shall be provided with an internet connection and
shall receive monthly music
updates via internet download.
Q. The system design shall incorporate multiple loudspeaker circuits grouped
into zones such that
volume levels can be accurately set between different areas and different
themed music content can
be used to differentiate areas.
R. Loudspeaker layouts shall be as per the layout drawings but shall be
coordinated by the contractor
in accordance with the Interior Design reflected ceiling plans, Interior Design
and Landscape
drawings and details. The systems shall in all cases be designed to provide even
coverage (+/- 3dB)
and to be capable of an A-weighted sound pressure level of 10dB above ambient
noise level with
sufficient headroom to cope to cope with transient peaks.
S. Each outlet or zone shall be configured as a discrete audio zone that is
controllable independent of
the main BGM system but shall have common connection and access to the
Digital Audio Server

located in any network connected location from which the signage system may

A. The network audio core system shall operate on gigabit Layer 3 Ethernet and

BACKGROUND MUSIC SYSTEM DIGITAL POWER AMPLIFIER
A. The power amplifier shall be a solid-state four or eight channel model
employing Multi-Mode® (AB+B) output circuitry. The amplifier shall contain
protection from shorted, open and mismatched loads, general overheating, DC,
high-frequency overloads, under/over voltage, and internal faults. The amplifier

shall contain FIT (Fault Isolation Topology), which isolates channel-specific
faults and prevents them from affecting remaining channels.
B. The amplifier chassis shall be constructed of steel with a durable black finish
and shall be designed for continuously variable-speed forced-air ventilation
from the front panel to the side panels. Rearmounted controls shall include
Channel Level Controls and a Mode Switch.
C. The Mode Switch (used on each consecutive pair of channels) is a four-
position switch which selects among Dual 8/4 ohms, Dual 70V,Bridge-Mono 16/8
ohms, and Bridge-Mono 100V
D. A Signal Indicator (one per channel) that illuminates to indicate the presence
of input signals above -40 dBu, a red Clip Indicator that illuminates when the
THD of the channel’s output signal rises to a level typically considered as the
onset of audible clipping (and illuminates during Thermal Level Control or input
overload), a red Thermal Indicator (one per channel) that flashes when a state
of thermal stress or overload has caused the channel to shut down (and flashes
in all channels if the power supply goes into thermal overload), a red Fault
Indicator (one per channel) that flashes when a fault condition has occurred in
the channel, and a blue Power Indicator that illuminates when the amplifier has
been turned on and AC power is available (and illuminates when the amplifier
shuts off due to an under-/over-voltage condition on the AC mains).
E. The specification of the Power Amplifier shall be as follows:-
1. Performance: 220 watts per channel pair (100V).
2. Signal to Noise Ratio: (20 Hz to 20 kHz): 100 dB un weighted.
3. Phase Response: ±35 degrees from 10 Hz to 20 kHz at 1 watt.
4. Frequency Response: 20 Hz to 20 kHz, ±0.5 dB at 1 watt into 8 ohms
per channel in Dual mode.
5. Damping Factor: > 180 from 10 to 400 Hz
6. Cross Talk: 20 Hz to 1 kHz > 80 dB.
7. Total Harmonic Distortion: 1 watt from 20 Hz to 20 kHz: less than 0.05%.
8. Common Mode Rejection: (20 Hz to 1 kHz): greater than 50 dB. DC Output
Offset (Shorted input): less than 5 mV.
9. Maximum Input Level: + 22 dBu rms

FEEDBACK CONTROLLER
A. The automatic feedback controller shall be a single channel digital signal
processor with twelve 1/10- or 1/5- octave filters (selectable). The unit may be
used on the whole mix, on sub-groups, or on selected insert points. It shall
automatically sense feedback and determine its pitch, then assign a digital
notch filter to the resonating frequency to automatically eliminate the feedback.
B. The product shall include technology that effectively distinguishes between
speech, music and feedback, and it shall be operational during the program. It
shall use two types of user-selectable notch filters: “fixed” or “dynamic.” The
fixed filters shall remain set on the initial feedback frequencies, while the
dynamic filters shall be automatically reassigned new frequencies as feedback
occurs during the program.

the intergraded structural hanging point, AV Niches Floor Box and patch panel
connections required, to complete a fully functional system as per the design
intent.
