INTRODUCTION
This report comprises the results of dynamic pile load testing. The foundation of the superstructure
rested on piles of 1200 mm diameter and 22.50-meter length. The pile design load is 630 MT that
provided by client.
The principle of dynamic load testing is to measure the data, which contain information of the
hammer blow as well as the accelerations, and stresses as a function of time. By performing Signal
Matching on these measured data, the mobilized static bearing capacity of the pile can be confirmed.
PILE DETAILS
AVAILABLE DOCUMENT
For this report, the following documents and data were available:
• Pile Cross-Section details
• Site Location & Field data
This data provided by Client and same data is used for data processing to calculate the mobilized
static load bearing capacity of pile.

The data collected in the PDA and directly transmitted by Wi-Fi to a laptop computer operated by
the monitoring engineer on the platform. The accelerometers are of a piezo-resistive type. These
accelerometers are one order of magnitude more accurate than piezo-electric accelerometers, thus
showing hardly any zero drift.
The PDA is a micro-processor-based signal conditioner and digital computer. Signals of pile top
force and velocity were measured and analyzed during each strike of the pile driving hammer and
stored in the Analyzer. The pile top force and velocity –time curves were displayed on laptop
computer screen. Real time analogue signals of the pile top force and velocity were also recorded
using the PDA and later stored in the field computer unit.

From the acceleration data, pile specifications and strain data, the following quantities as a function
of penetration can be presented:
• Maximum Force
• Maximum Acceleration
Derived from force and acceleration the following quantities as a function of penetration can be
presented:
• Maximum Compression
• Maximum Tension
• Maximum Velocity
Form the last impact, upward wave which is generated that signal is used for signal matching
process to calculate the mobilized static load capacity of pile.
Signal Matching
For signal matching the pile and soil are modelled as a dynamic system with masses, dampers and
springs. This model calculates the dynamic response of the pile head to the measured dynamic
input.
The relevant parameters of the model are changed iteratively until the calculated response matches
the measured response, which yields a model and parameters that represents the actual behavior
of pile and soil. This model predicts the static behavior of the pile, including the contributions of
shaft resistance and toe resistance.

Results
Matching done based on the CASE method. For Signal processing, the upward travelling wave
selected, because this wave contains the information on the soil behavior. Most relevant output of the
dynamic pile load test results can be found in Appendix A.
Advantages:
• Compared to the static test this method is less time consuming andhindrance to work in the
adjoining area is much less.
• The transmission of energy from drop hammer to pile is calculated taking into account the
relative masses of pile and drop hammer and coefficient ofrestitution of bodies under impact.
• The observations of displacement are up to 0.01 mm. and such recordingup to 100 per seconds
can be taken and complete displacement profile isobtained.
• The method follows the formula given in the Indian code and calculationmethods.
• The formulae used for calculation gives best correlation among thevarious dynamic formulae in
use for reinforced concrete piles.
• The impact loading arrangement is such that pile testing can be conductedwithout damaging the
head or cutting the reinforcement bars.

CONCLUSION
The analysis results for Pile showed that it had achieved an activated capacity of 954 Tons at the time
of testing which is more than the required test load of 945 Tons.
This report has been prepared as per guidelines given in ASTM D4945. No other warranty, expressed
