PROPOSAL OF CONTRACT TERMS AND CONDITIONS

HEAD FOOTBALL COACH


Term
• $325,000 annual salary
• Five (5) year deal through January 31, 2030
• Additional year to be added automatically for first FCS play-off appearance or at least seven wins in 2025 or
2026.

Bonuses and Other Considerations - In any year the football team’s single year APR is less than 930, not eligible for any
bonus payments.
• Moving expenses/temp housing: $20,000
• Courtesy vehicle
• Country Club membership
• Single Year APR of 985 and above: $10,000
• Coach of the Year: National/Conference: $10,000/$5,000
• Conference Championship: outright/partial: $15,000/$5,000
• FCS Playoff appearance: $10,000; with a $20,000 bonus pool to distribute assistant coaches.
• FCS Playoff Win: $4,000 per win
• FCS National Championship game runner-up: $25,000
• FCS National Champions: $50,000
• Win game vs. FBS opponent: $5,000

Guarantee (University Terminates Without Cause)


• 100% of salary for first 12 months after termination, 65% of salary beginning month thirteen through the end of
otherwise unexpired Term, no subject to offset, payable in equal monthly installments through the otherwise
unexpired Term.

Buyout (Coach Terminates Without Cause)


Half of such amount shall be payable to the University within thirty (30) days from the date of termination, with the
remaining half amount due one (1) year from the date of termination.
• Termination prior to January 31, 2026 – 100% of annual compensation
• Termination prior to January 31, 2027 – 75% of annual compensation
• Termination prior to January 31, 2028 – 50% of annual compensation
• Termination prior to January 31, 2029 – 25% of annual compensation
• Termination in 2029 or beyond as realized by additional years earned through post-season - $75,000
• Buyout is waived if thirteen (13) months or less remain on the unexpired Term.
Salary Pool
• Coach will have an annual salary pool of $800,000 for ten (10) assistant coaches and one (1) director of
operations. The salary pool will increase to $900,000 annually provided Foundation salary enhancement
funding.
• Eligible for the University annual increase per calendar year to the salary pool beginning February 1, 2026
(not including the Foundation salary enhancement funding.)

Miscellaneous
• No option for reassignment without Coach’s written approval
• University has informed Coach of all significant NCAA issues (if any) of which it is aware.

Traditional Benefits
TIAA retirement contributions – University provides a 10% match (3-year vesting)
24 days vacation annually (can bank up to one year, no vacation payout upon departure)
Excellent Health and Dental plans.

Acknowledgment and Acceptance

By signing below, I acknowledge that I have read and understood the terms and conditions outlined in this
Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). I accept the offer as described and agree to comply with the expectations and
responsibilities set forth in this document.

I understand that this MOU serves as an initial agreement outlining the terms of this offer and that a formal
employment contract will be developed and provided by the University of Northern Iowa. The formal employment
contract will detail the full scope of my employment terms and conditions and will supersede this MOU upon execution.
