II. PROBLEM STATEMENT:

The design and analysis of a 5 kVA Switched

performance. This study aims to model the SRM using

stator and rotor dimensions, winding configuration, and
material properties. Torque-speed characteristics will
be analyzed to understand the motor's performance
under various operating conditions. Additionally, speed
control parameters, including DC bus voltage and
switching angles, will be identified and optimized. A
focus will be placed on plotting speed vs control
parameter curves to enhance motor performance and
enable efficient control for practical applications.

III. METHODOLGY:

The methodology involves modeling a 5 kVA

calculate Power P = VI, the overall power of the
machine will approximately be 5kVA ignoring the
machine power losses etc.

Now, we have to check on the box for torque-speed


characteristics curve and then click on the solve E-
characteristics and the relationship between voltage
and speed. The lab highlighted the importance of
optimizing voltage and current for efficient motor
operation while maintaining desired performance
levels. Understanding these parameters is essential for
improving the motor's speed control and enhancing its
overall efficiency in practical applications, ensuring
effective and reliable motor performance.

We can change DC Bus Voltage from 100-200 to
see different values of speed of SRM, keep in mind that Desmos | Graphing Calculator

current at 50A and changing the value of voltage from
100-200 Volts by the gap of 20 will give us different
speeds. From those values we can plot a graph on
desmos.

In this plot, speed is on x-axis and voltage is on y-axis


and we can see from the graph that as the voltage
increases the speed of the motor increases.

VII. CONCLUSION:

In conclusion, the lab focused on modeling and


analyzing the Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) to
achieve a 5kVA rating and explore its performance
characteristics. By adjusting parameters such as
voltage, switching frequency, and control strategies, we
were able to study the motor’s speed-torque
