1. About Image Lab Software

Image Lab image acquisition and analysis software supports the Gel Doc™ EZ, Gel Doc XR+,
ChemiDoc™ XRS+, and ChemiDoc™ MP imaging systems, providing automated and efficient image
acquisition and analysis through user defined protocols. Researchers can easily design reusable
protocols to generate reproducible data.
Image Lab software enables you to view your analyzed data, adjust the analysis, and produce
customized reports that show precisely what settings have been applied in order to ensure repeatable
results.

4. Reporting Software Problems and Feature Requests to Bio-Rad Laboratories

Send all problems and feature requests via email to: ImageLab@Bio-Rad.com. Please specify the
version of the software (Help > About) and provide a detailed description of the problem or feature.

5. Additional Information and Known Issues

 Installation
o When upgrading from Image Lab 2.0/2.0.1 to Image Lab 4.0 on Windows 7, the Gel Doc
XR drivers might not be installed correctly. Turn on the Gel Doc XR and go to the Device
Manager (click Start, then right-click Computer, select Manage and select Device
Manager). Right-click Bio-Rad Imaging Device under Imaging Devices and select Update
Driver Software. Click Search automatically for updated driver software to update the
drivers

 Documentation
o System requirements table in manuals omit Mac OSX 10.7 support. Image Lab 4.1 has
been has been validated and tested for bot Mac OSX 10.7 and 10.6
o Bitmap for Normalization Tools is incorrect and includes an extra button.

 ChemiDoc MP
o You are only allowed to create, edit, or delete custom applications from a single channel
protocol

 ChemiDoc XRS+ and ChemiDoc MP

o Some computers based upon the Intel i3 and i5 processor may capture images with
artifacts. If this occurs, try to remove all other USB devices from the computer and try
connecting the system to a different USB port, or change computers

 All devices
o If the device is not recognized by Image Lab, then close Image Lab, restart the device,
and wait for the operating system to recognize the device. Then restart Image Lab

 Gel Doc XR+, ChemiDoc XRS+, and ChemiDoc MP
