The Commutative Property of Addition

LO: I can use the commutative property to decide on the better order of addition.

Write the order in which you think it is best to add these numbers and then work
out the calculation.
Tip: you may not need to change every calculation.

In most cases it is better to add the smaller to the larger so 17 + 4 = 21, however if children may justify why
they keep it at 44 + 80 because they know they are adding 8 tens.
