• Some of the crime data that it regularly compiles are:

– index and non-index crimes


– traffic offenses
– violence against women and children
– drugs and drug-related crimes
– street crimes
– transnational crimes

Index crimes
• serious in nature
• occur with sufficient frequency and regularity
• serve as an index to the crime situation
• crimes against persons such as murder, homicide,
physical injury and rape; and
• crimes against property such as robbery, theft,
carnapping and cattle rustling

• all other crimes not categorized as index crimes
• kidnapping, threat and coercion, acts of lasciviousness,

With all the good intentions of the Project, the NCIS has
yet to be implemented

– lack of mechanism to ensure transparency


– non involvement of concerned agencies
– insufficient budget
– changes in the lead agency to implement the Project
