Reading Passage: The Amazing Journey of Sea Turtles

Sea turtles are incredible marine animals that have survived on Earth for over 110 million years.
These remarkable creatures undertake one of the most incredible migra ons in the animal kingdom.
Female sea turtles travel thousands of miles across vast oceans to return to the exact beach where
they were born to lay their own eggs. Scien sts have discovered that these turtles use the Earth's
magne c field like a natural GPS system to navigate their long journeys.

Each sea turtle species faces unique challenges. The green sea turtle, for example, changes its diet as
it grows. Young green sea turtles are carnivorous, ea ng small sea creatures, while adult green sea
turtles become herbivores, feeding primarily on seagrasses and algae. This dietary transforma on
helps them survive in different marine environments.

Despite their incredible adaptability, sea turtles are now endangered. Climate change, plas c
