Matsyachash Prakalpa Scheme” for enhancing fish production in the state and to facilitate the state
become self-reliant. It intends to increase production of fish through adoption of ‘biofloc
technology’, an environment friendly technology. The required infrastructure can be installed at a
low investment. The initiative will facilitate increase in fish production through environment friendly
technology and create new employment as well as self-employment opportunities in the state. An
amount of Rs. 6 Crore have been allocated for the scheme in the budget by the Govt. of Tripura.
“Mukhyamantri Unnoato Godhan Prakalp”(MUGP), a 3-year plan to introduce sexsorted artificial
insemination of cattle has been initiated by the Government of Tripura. It aims to make Tripura self-
sufficient in milk production by ensuring that more female calves are born through sex-sorted
Artificial Insemination. With this initiative it is estimated to enhance birth of female calves to 90%,
while the current conventional artificial insemination method has a varying mix of female and male
calves. Rubber Mission: State government has made a provision of Rs.5 Crore in the budget for 2022-
23 for a new Mission called “Rubber Mini Mission” to promote cultivation and processing of rubber
in the state. The Mini Mission will benefit 10,000 rubber growers in developing Processing Industry
of rubber wood and sheets over next three years. The Government of Tripura had initiated a 3-Year
Plan for “Doubling farmers’ income” within 2022. For dissemination of latest technology in
Agriculture, 19 (nineteen) “Krishak Bandhu Kendras” have been opened under different Agri. Sub-
divisions. The concept of ‘Diversified Farming’ has been popularized among the farmers by
motivating them to cultivate more remunerative crops like hybrid Maize and black gram. Farmers
have been taught about the postharvest processing and value addition. Farmers were motivated for
practicing organic farming to have better sustainability and ecological balance. In addition to existing
area under organic farming, 15,000 Ha additional area are planned under organic farming. The State
Government is providing work sheds and assisting handloom weavers in product designing under
North East Region Textiles Promotion Scheme (NERTPS) for development of weavers, artisan and
silkworm rearers of state. Group Work Sheds have also been constructed in Handloom clusters under
this scheme. To develop the skills of weavers and to help them raise their income, training is
imparted under SAMARTH Scheme. Similarly, under Border Area Development Programme (BADP),
training programmes for weavers have been initiated at Padmabill, Asharambari and Champahower
under Khowai District. State government have allocated Rs. 5 Cr for setting up of a Drone
Club/Centre in Tripura Institute of Technology (TIT) Narsingarh to provide college students an
opportunity to learn, research and train on Drone Technology, which is emerging at a very fast pace.
