 Interoduction

UPL – United Phosphorus Limited (1969) is a multinational company

that manufactures and markets agrochemicals, industrial chemicals,
intermediates and also offers crop protection solutions. It offers wide
range of products and has developed more than 100 insecticides,
fungicides PGR, rodenticides, and herbicides. UPL is global player of
crop protection products has customer base in 123 countries. Advanta
seeds associate company of UPL. Advanta seeds is a global seed
company committed to sustainable agricultural practices and enhancing
farmer prosperity with high quality, hybrid seeds. The annual turnover
of UPl is 1780 cr. in last year. The seeds was selled of muskmelon at
Advanta seeds is 6 cr. only in Kapurthala. The farmer had a lot of faith
in UPL pesticides and advanta seeds. UPL company gave free trail of
spray of 10 farmers on muskmelon in kapurthala.

Day-1 (21 March 2022)

Today I am going to the Kapurthala to met the Mr.Mnoj kumar . I reach

at 10:00 am, and i met with Mr. Manoj kumar and my other team
members Mr. Baljinder kumar, Mr. Sandeep kumar, Mr.vikram,
Mr.Naresh kumar at Western hotal Kapurthala. Firstly Mr. Manoj
Kumar introduced us about their company. Mr. Manoj Kumar works on
post harvest of food value change in all fruits and vegetables. He told us
about all the pesticides, fertilizers and seeds of the company. He told
me about UPLs different partnership with other company’s ADVANTA
SEED and SAWAL Pvt lmt. ADVANTA SEED have two verities of
muskmelon: MADHU and GURU. He told us that he specially focus on
them. After they gave us information about different products of UPL
company such as RENO, SAAF, GUNTHER, UNILAX, UTHANE etc. He also
told us about different diseases in muskmelon and five different
irrigation stages of muskmelon.
Day-2 (22 March 2022)

We had gone to Village Mothewal with my team and Mr. Manoj

Kumar at 10:30 am, where firstly we met with Mr. Hardeep Singh
(Project Farmer) in field. He sowing up to 7 acre of
Muskmelon(Madhu). We introduced him about the specification
of the RENO, SAAF, UTHANE, UNILAX, GUNTHER, CUPROFIX etc.
which are major products of UPL. We also provide him a trail of
one acre. We also talk about the diseases of Muskmelon crop.
Mr.Manoj kumar gives a canopy of spray of muskmelon diseases.
Mr. Hardeep Singh told that they sowing crop first week of march.
We were visit to his field and plants have two or three leaves.
Day 3 (23 March 2022)

We had gone to next village Malupura 10:00 a.m. where we met with
the Mr. Chanchal Singh (project farmer) in his farm. Mr. Manoj Kumar
told us that he was old farmer at UPL and ADVANTA SEEDS. He sowing
almost 60 acre of a Madhu and Guru both verities of muskmelon. We
discuss about blight disease. He told us that last few years, blight has
very impact on muskmelon crops and Blight quickly spreads to all plants
and dries them in 2-3 days. Mr. Monaj kumar gives him a proper spray
schedule of the crop. We also provide him trail of an acre. Mr. Manoj
Kumar told that it prevent the crop from blight use fungicides UNILAX
AND GAINEXA.
Day 4 (24 March 2022)

We had gone to Bhanolunga village at 9:15 am and firstly we met with

Mr. Sumit Kumar who is sales man in UPL Advanta seeds. He introduced
us to a skilled farmer of advanta seed: Mr. Harjeet Singh (Project
farmer). We met Mr. Harjeet Singh in his field and he took us there
where he sowed Muskmelon in his field. We talked with him about
good yield of muskmelon and prevention of diseases. Mr. Sumit kumar
told that he should sown muskmelon madhu verity in his 12 acre. We
gave them an acre of free spray trail and gave schedule of spray
canopy. Mr. Harjeet Singh assures that he will use similar spray in his
fields then we met another farmer from bhanolunga Mr. nonihal Singh
and so on.
Day 5 (25 march)
We had gone to village Sekhupur 9:30 and now we met with Mr.
Hemant kumar also a sales man of seeds of advanta seed in kapurthala
district. He introduced us a farmer of advanta seed: Mr. Amrik Singh
(Project Farmer). Mr. Amrik Singh sowed guru verity of muskmelon in
45 acre. We made them believe that our company’s products are good
for yield and prevention of diseases and especially for blight disease.
We gave them free trail of all spray of an acre. Mr. Hemant Kumar told
us that he has also planted cucumber of advanta seeds (champion
plus). We went to his field and checked the melon plants. We talked
with them this year UPL company will buy melon in association with
Punjab agro and All fresh Pvt lmt.

Day 6 (26 March)

We went to meet the farmer of brinderpur Mr. gurmukh singh.

Mr.Gurmukh Singh is a very big farmer and he plants muskmelon in 200
acre. They also have their own potato cold store. While talking to him,
he told us that he is also head of the association of potato. We also
gave them 1 acre free trail of spray. We informed him that the
Company will collebrate with Punjab Agro All Fresh for increase the
incomes of the famer and will buy the Muskmelon at high rate. He told
us that madhu verity has low germination rate in comparison with
other verities. Then we talked abourt muskmelon diseases and
pesticides. We have informed them about their good result of UPL
products. We introduced him about the specification of the RENO,
SAAF, UTHANE, UNILAX, GUNTHER, CUPROFIX etc. Mr. Gurmukh Singh
told us that I will also fix a meeting with all our potato customers.
Day 7 (27 march)

Day 8 (28 march)

Next day I went with my team to meet Mr. Jaswinder Singh in Taspur
village. When we reached there, Mr. Jaswinder Singh ploughed their
farm. First they asked for a glass of water. He told that he had planted
Muskmelon in 7 acres. We gave him trail of spray of an acre. We also
discuss about the diseases of the Muskmelon crop. He told us that
production of the Muskmelon fall due to blight disease and weather
conditions in the last few years. We provide him information about the
fungicides of blight disease. We also provide him details of the pesticide
distributers of the UPL Company. Then we met some other farmer of
the Taspur village. We also gave him some details about the pesticides
of the UPL Company.
Day-9 (29th March)

Today, We had went to NathuChahal Village. Here, we visit Mr.

Balwinder Singh’s farm. Firstly he offers us a cup of tea. We examine all
the planted crops and observe that plants are 25 days old. Then we
talked about the UPL products. We informed him that the Company will
tie-up with Punjab Agro All Fresh for increase the incomes of the famer
and will buy the Muskmelon at high rate. We also gave him the trail of
one acre of the spray. He impressed with our products and told that he
used our company’s product in his field. Then he requested us that we
further come for examination of the Muskmelon.
Day 10 (30 march)

We had gone to village Sidhwadona to met Mr. Baldev Singh in his

farm. Here we also met with Mr. bladev Singh and his brother Mr.
Shamsher Singh. Mr. Baldev Singh told us that he was first farmer in
kapurthala district to start sowing muskmelon crop since 1999. Mr.
Bladev Singh talked about the marketing problem in selling muskmelon
fruits (at low prices in harvesting times). Mr. Bladev Singh sowing 32
acres madhu and guru both verities of muskmelon. He told us that this
year muskmelon crop sowing are decease than last year’s due to blight
disease effect and insufficient prices at harvesting time of fruits. We
introduced him about the specification of UPL productus for
muskmelon. We gave him a free trial of spray for an acre
Day11 (31 march)

Today, we went to go new grain market of kaputhala, here we meeting

with owner of Preet seed store Mr. Gurpreet Singh. Preet seed store
keeps seeds of all crops and these are sold with all the farmers of
kapurthala. He had different company’s of seed likes as Advanta seeds,
green field, supper gold, Namdhari, pioneer seeds ets. Mr. Gurpreet
Singh told us that the seeds of madhu and guru of muskmelon of
advanta seeds keeps only available on my shop in the grain market. We
are also discussed about the price of seeds of madhu and guru with
him. He offers us a cup of tea. He has given us the data of those
farmers who have planted Advanta seeds muskmelon. He told us that
madhu verities very famous in kaputhala area and farmers demand
more madhu then other verities. He told us that he has sold 2200 acres
of melon this year and it’s a lot less than last year. This time instead of
melon, sowing of mazie crop was increased.
Day 12 (1 april 2022)

Today, I want to Dadwindi village at morning 9:00 am with my team.

There we went to the Zamidara Pesticides shop and here we met with
Mr. Kamaljeet Singh. Mr. Kamaljeet Singh was sales the all products of
UPL and SAWAL company. They told us that some of UPL’s products is
hare high demand and farmers are mostly used RENO, SAAF, UNILAX,
GUNTHER, BARIK ets. He told us that UPL company provide sprayer
Protektor 600 for farmer to spray in field. He told that 6 machines work
under him and total 28 machines work in kapurthala region. Protektor
600 and Shaktiman boom sprayer are UPL sprayer used for spray in
field and this sprayer are spray only UPL products. The cost of one acre
spray is around 150 rupees. We talked more about it. He told us about
Nature farm app which is official app of UPL company. Nature farm app
was very helpful to book spray online in less prices. Then they gave us
his regular Customer details, which use UPL products.
Day 13 (2 april)

Day 14 (3 april)

Firstly we went to Ariyawala village and met with the farmers. There
are work on fields and collect of data who sown the madhu and guru
verities of muskmelon. Here we talked to farmers and got information
about the problems faced by muskmelon crop. We suggested them to
use UPL’s spray and we also gave the details of distributor of UPL to
some interested farmers. Here we met these farmers:

I. Parmjeet singh 11 acre madhu

II. Beyant singh 38 ace madhu and guru both
III. Resham singh 24 acre guru
IV. Charanjeet singh 46 acre madhu and guru both
V. Tirlochan singh 18 acre madhu
Day 15(4 April)

That day me and my team met with Mr. Manoj kumar and Mr.Kunnal
Rawat (work on food value change in UPL).we were gone to mothawal
village met with the project farmer Mr. Hardeep Singh and Mr.
Devinder singh. First we were met with Mr. hardeep Singh in his farm.
There had mites attack in Mr.hardeep singh melon field and Mr. kuunal
suggested him to spray UTHEN + RENO. He also told that the dosage of
spray according to the acre, UTHEN @ 500 gm per acre and RENO @
100 ml per acre in 250 litre water. He also informed about the next
spray SAAF and RENO. After this we discussed about other diseases of
muskmelon.

After this we reached the grain market of mothawal at 12:00 pm to

meet another Project farmer Mr. Devinder Singh. He told us that his
farm is near the grain market. Mr. Kunnal Rawat asked him about the
mites attack and also inquired about how melon plants are standing.
Mr. Manoj kumar advised to apply first precautions for fungus attack
and spray fungicide. We talked about marketing of muskmelon. Mr.
Manoj kumar said that next week All Fresh team is coming on here.
After this we went to Pooja Vegetarian restaurant in Kapurthala to had
lunch with Mr. Knnal and Mr. Manoj kumar.
Day 16 (5 april)

At 8.30 am, Mr. Kunnal called us and told us todys’s schedule that we
will go to Nathu chahl village to meet Mr. Balvinder singh. We arrived at
Mr. Balwinder singh farm with Mr. KunnalRawat and Mr. Manoj kumar
at 9:45 am. Firstly Mr. Bakvinder singh asked us for water. He told us he
spray Uthane and Reno one week ago. Mr. Kunnal RAWAT suggested
him to do spray SAAf and RENO after 3 or 4 days. We talked about the
fungal diseases that come in melon and Mr. Manoj kumar informed to
balvinder singh about fungicides. After that we chacked the plants in
whole field. Mr. kunnalrawat told us he would go back to Mumbai. He
told us that collect the data of those farmers who

sown Madhu and Guru verities of muskmelon and meet farmers advise

them to use UPS’s products. Mr. manoj kumar told us that he is also
back to himachalpardesh to work on apple harvesting.
 Day 17 (6 april)

Today we went to three villages and fair with farmers of muskmelon.

Firsty we went to Biharipur village and met with farmer Mr. Karm singh.
He is most advance farmer in his area.He told us that he was first
sowed melons in his area on 15 February. We got a wilt attack in his
farm, so advised him to spray unilax and parphenophas in his field we
also give him distributor details. After this we met some other frmers
on the biharipur to saidowal road. A farmer Mr. manjeet singh was
spraying saaf in saidowal village, so we informed him about the exact
amount of saaf according to the acre.We met with some other farmers
of saidowal and after we went to sidhwadona. We collected this data
by meeting farmers throughout the day.

Day 18 (7 April)

That-day we went to malupur village at 10:00 am and we met with the

Mr.Chanchal singh in his farm. Mr.chanchal singh did the first spray of
our project today .He had a sprayer of 25 liter water capacity . then we
made a dose of 1 acre on them according to that. Then we got them
booked for SAAF and RENO for remaining acres. Mr. Balvinder Singh
gave us the details of some farmers of malupur who had sown the
muskmelon. we had went this details and met with them.
Day 19 (8 April)

At 9:00 am ,Mr.Hemant kumar called us and said that there is a farmer

meeting in sidhwadhona village. Here we met with Mr. Gajinder Singh
who had TM of advanta seeds in kapurthala. Mr. Hament kumar and
Mr.sumit Kumar has gathered all the muskmelon farmers there. Mr.
Gijendhr Singh talked with all the farmers about the benefits and long
self – life of melon. They also told us that muskmelon madhu have thin
exocarp and thick mesocarp. plant of madhu long life period then
others and have survive hard weather conditions . Mr. Gejinder Singh
also told that this year we will help to sale your muskmelon fruits and
all fresh and punjab agro will buy muskmelon from yours field
Day 20 (9 april)

Today Mr.kunnal Rawat told us that you all go and meet the project
farmer and give update in watsaap group. fristly we go to sekhupur
village met with Mr. Amrik Singh . He has done 2 sprays and we also
ordar the UNILEX for remaining acres of muskmelon. After that we
went to met next farmer Mr. Baldev Singh . he sid that he is only done
first spray because he is busy in potato harvesting. Then we met Mr.
Amrik Singh Mr. Gurrmukh singh. They had also done both two sprays.
Finely we went to malupur village and met with Mr. chanchal singh.
There was an insact attack on melon plants in Mr. Chanchal Singh fields.
We advise him to spray Gunthar in field. After that we met with other
remaining project farmers. Eveing 5:00 pm we send the report of all
project farmers.
Day 21 (10 april)

Day22 (11 april)

Today we met with Mr. Naresh Jawa Founder and Ceo of all fresh and
Mr. Kunnal Rawat and Mr. Manoj kumar. We went to Brindpur village
met with Mr. Gurmukh Singh. Mr. Naresh Jawa told us that he was
purchasing muskmelon from direct farmers in low prices. Mr. Naresh
Jawa company all fresh already purchasing Apple, Citrus, Mango and
other fruits every year from different regions of india. He also export
the fruits and fruits products to other counter’s. Mr. naresh Jawa told
us that after he purchasing muskmelon grading the fruits and packing in
wooden boxes. Mr. Dinesh kumar manger of Mr.Naresh Jawa has
checked the muskmelon fruits weight, size for making packing boxes.
Ready fruit of madhu have almost 1.50-2.00 kg weight. Mr. dinesh
kumar said that he had 6-7 pices melon fruits are packed in one box.
Mr. Naresh jawa told us that he have plains to waxing the melon fruit
to increase the self life of melon fruits and exports the fruits to long
distance cities for sale high rates. We are disccus with Mr. Gurmukh
singh about the transporting, laboring for harvesting and demand of
melon in near market. Mr. Gurmukh singh cut a fruit of melon and gives
to Mr. Naresh Jawa for testing and naresh jawa is very impress from
sweetness of madhu melon. We introduced to Mr. Naresh Jawa with
some other farmer.
Day 23 (12 april)

Mr. Gijender called at 8:00 this morning and said that today there is a
farmer meeting in pattar kalan on okra. We reached there at 9:30 and
met Mr. Gijender Singh. MR. Gijender held a meeting with all the
farmer and they told about the verities of okra ADV 216, TAJ, VENUS
PLUS, NAVYA, JAANI, RADHIKA. He also pointed out that okra’s new
veritie ADV 216 are resistance to yellow vein mosaic virus and okra leaf
curl virus. He told that AADV 216 are excellent fruit quality and easy for
picking. Some of farmer in conversation with Mr.Gajinder said that the
price of okra of advanta seed is slightly higher than other company’s.
mr. gejinder told that okra of ADV 216 and TAj are long in size , thin,
and inside it the seeds are small. Mr. Hemant and Mr. Summit gave
cold drink to all farmers.
Day 24 (13 april)

We went to gosal village and we met with Mr. Amal Kumar and Mr.
GAjinder kumar . Mr. Amal kumar is ZMS in advanta seeds. First Mr.
Amal kumar held a farmer meeting in Gosal village on muskmelon. Mr.
Amal kumar talks to farmer about muskmelon and benefits of madhu
and guru muskmelon. Mr. Amal kumar climbed on top pf muskmelon
and tell about its hardness. After the meeting was over , Mr. Amal
kumar spoke o us. They briefed us about marketing and how to talk
with farmers and convince them to buy our products. He told us that
how we should maintain our trust with farmer and always give correct
information to him. We got to learn a lot from him. Then we had lunch
with him at Haveli restaurant in kapurthala.
Day 25 (14 april)

Day 26 (15 april)

Thatday at 8:00 am Mr. kunal called and asked about site selection for
packing muskmelon. We advised to select the site of gurmukh singh
( owner of guru nank cold store ). We went to brindpur to met Mr.
Gurmukh singh. We asked him for a site and talked about it. We discuss
about laborers for packing of muskmelon and transport of packed
melons. He told us that he would make labour arrangement for packing
and gave details of transport company of jalandhar. We got him talking
with Mr. Naresh Jawa on call and final the rent of site
Day 27 (16 april )

Thatday at 9:00 am Mr. Manoj kumar called and said that he was come
with Punjab agro team. We went to Bhanolunga villagh and firstly met
with farmer Mr. Naunihal Singh. Mr. Manoj kumar came to mr.
Naunihal singh farm’s with Punjab agro team. Mr. Gurpreet Singh is
manager in Punjab agro food marketing. Mr. Gurpreet Singh come with
two assistants Mr. Kamaljeet singh and Mr. Harpreet singh. Mr.
Gurpreet told us that he has no expersinces of marketing on
muskmelon but he had also work in apple, mango, citrus etc. He along
with mr.Naunihal singh first inquired about the marketing of
muskmelons. He asked to Mr. Naunihal singh about the bagging and
loading in transport vehicle after harvesting the muskmelons. Mr.
Naunihal told them that the farmers himself gets the muskmelon
loaded in the transport vehicle with his own labors. He also told that
the cost of one empty bag is 7 rupees. After that we talked more about
the purchase of muskmelon and we came to know that their rate of
muskmelon was 8 rupees per kilogram. After that we met Mr. harjeet
singh, our project farmer from bhanolunga. Mr. Gurpreet singh said
that he will call and tell after deciding the rate. After that we met with
some other farmers. They went back.
Day 28 ( 17 april )

Day 29 (18 april)

Thatday we met with all project farmers and make report on how
many spray trail done. Firstly we met with Mr. gurmukh Singh and he
was complete all four spray. He told that the sprays have very good
results and next year he will follow this schedules. Then we went to
sekhupur village and met with Mr. Amrik Singh. He told us that he had
facing the problem of cracking the fruits. We have advised him to spray
Brick 250ml with 300 liter water in an acre. He had done 3 sprays. Next
we went to sidhawa dona village and met with Mr. Baldev singh in his
farm. He told us that there had been a lot of impacts on his field. After
this we got all the project farmers and collect data. Then we come back
in the room.
Day 30 (19 april)

Last day of training we filled the Google form of these entire ten project
farmer. We update the all date on Google forms :farmer name, phone
number, village, total acre advanta seeds muskmelon, date of sowing,
first ,second, three, fourth sprays dates and land mark. We also
mention the first picking of muskmelon estimates according to date of
sowing. We make a pdf of these and send to Mr. Kunnal Rawat. We
filled another google form and in that we mentioned all the farmers
whom we have met during training time.

At 12:30 pm we met with Mr. Kunnal Rawat in Saffron restaurant in

kaputhala. We talked about all our training experience. We were thanks
to Mr. Kunnal rawat for helping us in our training and for teaching us.
