INDUSTRY
Recruitment (hiring) is a core function of Human Resource
management. Recruitment refers to the process of finding and hiring
the best-qualified candidate (from within or outside of an
organisation) for a job opening, in a timely and cost-effective manner.
The recruitment process includes analysing the requirements of a job,
attracting employees to that job, screening and selecting applicants,
hiring and integrating the new employees to the organisation. Internet
based technologies to support all aspects of recruitment have become
widespread.
In India, the recruitment industry is growing at a very fast rate.
According to a report by Executive Recruiters Association and Ernst
& Young the recruitment industry has grown at a growth rate of 21%
with an overall value at approximately ₹22,800 crore. As the industry
grows and becomes competitive, the traditional ways like referrals in
hiring are replaced by proper HR methods.
Most of the companies outsource the hiring part from other
companies and this gives rise to a new industry. From a recent study,
it is known that the recruitment industry in India is becoming more
organised and there are companies in this sector who are into
recruitment, temporary staffing and executive search. An HR of a
company who wants to hire an employee approaches these
recruitment companies based on the recruitment and gets the list of
candidates and then shortlists them for the interview. As the industry
is increasing at a higher growth rate, it will help the economy and new
jobs will be created in this sector.

This internship experience provided a valuable opportunity for me to

between academia and industry. Through this internship, I gained
practical skills and hands-on experience in the Recruitment and
Selection field, developing a deeper understanding of
industry-specific challenges and best practices. This internship offered
a chance to work alongside professionals, build a network of contacts
and references and enhance employability and career prospects. They
also provide a platform to explore different career paths, develop soft
skills such as communication and teamwork, and earn academic credit
or compensation. Overall, this internship experience is an essential
stepping stone for career growth and development, offering a

I was able to gain knowledge on how the recruitment and
selection process in the HR field works and how crucial it is for
the smooth running of organisation.

I got to know a detailed and accurate summary of a job's
responsibilities, duties and requirements. And how it requires
carefully outlining the key components of a job.

Through this internship, I had the opportunity to develop and
hone my communication skills. I learned how to effectively
convey ideas, articulate my thoughts, and actively listen to
others.

● Screening resumes: Reviewing resumes taught me how to


quickly identify file candidates who meet the basic
qualifications for the internship.The skill is essential for
efficiently managing a large volume of applications.
