A point cloud is a large collecon o points acquired by 3D laser scanners or other technologies to
create 3D representaons o exisng structures.
Laser scan generally performed where any new structure or a unit is added to exisng structure or plant.
Laser scan data comes as point cloud, as name point cloud it is a cloud of points which shows shape of

Scanning results are represented using free-form, unstructured three-dimensional data, usually in the

performed during the scan itself or as a post-processing step.
Processing point clouds is a relavely new area in the survey business, and presents unique challenges,
