Fox Beanie

The Fox Beanie is a cute beanie for kids or adults. The pattern has three sizes and it’s worked from
bottom up with 3.5 mm / US 4 needles. Suggested yarn is a non itchy Sandnes Garn Double Sunday.
In the example beanie I have used Säiewool merino DK in colorway Brilliant Mr. Fox but Sandnes
Garn has an alternative foxy colour Cognat 2745 which you can also use.

INSTRUCTIONS

BRIM
Cast on 90 (100, 110) sts with the long-tail cast-on method or your preferred stretchy cast-on
method with 3,5 mm (US 4) circular needles. Join in the round and PM for BOR. Work rib *k1, p1*
for 2 rounds. Then start working according to the chart. The pattern repeat is 10 sts, so you’ll repeat
it 9 (10, 11) times on a round.

When you have finished the chart, keep working with the CC1 and p all sts for one round. This will be
the folded edge. Then continue working with CC1 and k all sts for 20 rounds or 7 cm / 2.75 inch.

CROWN
Change to MC, turn work and switch the working direction. Continue working with stockinette
stitch and k all sts. On the first round decrease evenly 2 ( - , 2) sts.

Continue working as established until the crown measures appr. 9 (10, 11) cm / 3.5 (4, 4.25) inch.

Divide sts to four double pointed needles, 22 (25, 27) sts on each needle. If you’re using magic loop
technique, you can use stitch markers to divide the sts to four sections.

Start decreases:

1st round: *k until 2 sts remain on the needle / 2 sts before the SM, k2tog *. Repeat * - * through all
four needles / until the end of round. 4 sts decreased.

2nd round: k all sts without decreases.

Repeat rounds 1-2, 7 (8, 9) more times.

You have 56 (64, 68) sts all together, 14 (16, 17 sts on each needle / section.

Continue decreases on every row, until 5 sts remain on one needle / in one section.
You have 20 sts in total.

Cut yarn and pull through all sts. Thread the yarn onto a tapestry needle and pull it so that the crown
opening shuts close and sew together on the wrong side.

FINISHING
Weave in all ends. If you wish, you may block your beanie by soaking it in cold to lukewarm water.

Fold up the brim at the fold up edge and let it dry flat.

Enjoy your Fox Beanie!
