NK-4HS : for all applications – paint, pesticides, inks, plastics where very fine particle size is important. It
has particle size much finer than INSILCO’s WESSALON /SIPERNATT or Madhu’s MFIL-PHARMA. In
pesticides gives better suspensibility. It is also very light (low bulk density) compared to above competing
products. Bulk density is as low as 0.08 gm/cc.
NK-4 : for pesticides/salt/other applications with lower cost than above. HS stand for micronized form, so
NK_4HS is the finely ground form ( micronized form ) of NK_4, so it is bit costlier. On grinding product
becomes lighter and finer.
NK-2/NK-3 : Flash dried silicas for rubber with low cost but properties equivalent to VN3 of
Degussa/Insilco in almost all respects, but powder form, not spray dried ( SD ), so some flying loss is there.
Main USP of our product is that it is cheaper compared to spray dried and finished rubber product
properties are almost like spray dried. The performance of ppt silica in rubber depends on the surface area
which should be between 160-180 sqm/gm for most applications such as tyre, conveyor belts, v belts,
moulded rubber etc
NK-3SD ( spray dried silica in micro pearl form or grains like salt ) : We are also making spray dried
granules ( salt like ) which madhu, insilico and gujrat multigas make. This grade is heavy and does not fly
during mixing. Currently the product is mostly suited to black and coloured rubber where extreme
whiteness is not required. We have 3 different grades of this product
NK-3-SD : medium cost with medium surface area, for most of the general rubber mfrs
NK-3-SD-R : highest surface area and cost, for sensitive rubber applications
NK-3SD-GR : granulated / pelletized version of NK-3-SD
NK-7 : high absorption grade, having absorption capacity 500% against 260% of normal silica grades,
hence very usefull for anti-caking, free flow and conversion of liquids to powders – like salt, detergents,
antioxidants etc..
NK-70 : all applications from rubber to pesticides where economy is main criteria.
NK-5 : low cost silica for rubber with properties comparable to FW Insilco.
NK-50 / NK-50L : very low cost silicas with colour variation to some extent ( made from rejects , that is
why it is low cost )
HCS : hydrates calcium silicate, it has many physical properties comparable to silica such as very light
nature/fluffy (low bulk density, water absorption 350 – 400% but is basic/alkaline with pH 10. It can hence
be used for all kind of anti-caking, free flow, thickening application where alkaline pH is tolerable.
NK-3HST : for anti caking in food grade products likes spices, seasonings, coffee concentrate, milk
powder etc. Also as a thickening agent in toothpaste specially in transparent gels
NK-3HS : Cheaper version of NK-3HST, slightly less absorption, non transparent in toothpaste
NK-30 HS : Abrasive silica, used for polishing action in toothpastes
NK-370 : Ultrafine and ultralight silica used where very low bulk density or fine particle size is required
SILICA : SPECIALITY GRADES
NK-20AHS : Micronized precipitated aluminium silicate against P820 (Sipernatt 820 )of Degussa
(imported product) and ZEOLEX of Rubber, USA. It is used as 15-30% replacement of titanium dioxide
pigment in paints. It is also good reinforcing agent for costly synthetic rubbers. Its proper name is sodium
aluminium silicate
MAGNIL magnesium carbonate substitute silica with a sweet after taste which can be used in food
applications such as pan masala. It is mixed with kattha and lime powder and coated on supari to avoid
reaction between them which happens due to ingress of moisture and leads to reddening
Competitors : Madhu chemicals, Bhavnagar, Gujrat Multigas, Tata Silica, Akshar silica

APPLICATIONS OF ALUMINIUM SILICATE
Cables - Semi reinforcing filler.
Rubber - Semi reinforcing and fast curing (due to alkaline pH) filler.
1) Different grades of active zno have 3-10 times higher surface area than white seal( white seal of
French process zinc oxide is the normal zinc oxide used everywhere which has 99.5 % zinc oxide
purity and 5-6 sqm/gm surface area). Since rubber curing or vulcanization is a chemical reaction in
which the sulphur, accelerator and zinc oxide (activator) chemically react to produce cross links
responsible for strength, surface area of zinc oxide determines how effective it is in this reaction.
Hence active zinc oxide can be used in 20-40% less dosage compared to white seal. Normally white
seal is used at 5 phr, whereas active zinc oxide can be used upto 3 phr. Even then it gives
improvement in properties, specially abrasion resistance. 3rd party rubber lab reports are available
for the same. Overall this brings a cost saving of Rs 80-90 per kg of zinc oxide to the customer.
2) Since active zinc oxide does not have any harmful free metals, it gives better ageing properties in
rubber. But in food and pharma rubber application like in injection vial caps etc., where heavy
metals are not at all tolerable, there is a direct visible benefit of active zinc oxide. Free metals can
also be tested by hydroquinone test, prescribes in ISI where no of free metal particles can be
counted as pink spots. In this test also active zinc oxide will never show even a single pink spot
whereas there may be numerous in white seal.
3) It is compatible with transparent rubber formulations because of its low refractive index and low
pigmenting value compared to white seal.
4) In applications where other fillers are not used, any kind of reinforcement from the essential
ingredients is welcome. Here also active zinc oxide is useful as it gives much better reinforcement
and shows remarkable improvement in physical properties.
GRADES
ZINCOSIL T-150 : This is the best grade , developed against Bayers aktiv zinc ( Lanxess now ) and is
also costliest. It is preferred in latex products, pharmaceutical rubber products, adhesives and many
other types of expensive rubber products. It has surface area 40-50 sqmtr/gm and zno 93-94 % and can
be used 30-40% reduced dosage. Colour is cream, which is characteristic for active zinc oxide of these
specifications, just like Lanxess and Transpek. It gives translucency in rubber.
ZINCOSIL MLA 900 :- This grade having surface area 20-25 sqm/gm and 89-92% as zinc oxide
content is useful for all applications and can replace white seal very well. It has slightly lower price that
white seal. It can also be used in 30-40 % reduced dosage due to higher surface area. Colour is white. It
gives translucency in rubber.
ZINCOSIL MLA -700 :- This grade having surface area 15-20 sqm/gm and 90-95 % as zinc complex
salt ( basic zinc carbonate) is more economical that white seal and can be used in same dosage or
around 10-15 % reduced dosage also. Colour is white.
ZINCOSIL MLA-200 : this grade is developed against Pan Continental of Taiwan, grade C-30. It has
around 80-85 % zinc complex salt and surface area of 15-20 sq mtr/gm. It is much more economical
than white seal and can be used in same dosage as white seal. Colour is white.
Zincosil MLA-300 against Pan Continental CS-03, Global thailand grade 234, AML Punjab etc (
zinc complex 80-90 %, surface area 15-25 sq mtr/ gm ) : This product can be offered only to those
customers who are already taking above grades or ask for very low priced material since already using
a product in that price range.
ZINCOSIL T-48 ( transparent grade ):- This grade is specially designed for complete transparency in
transparent rubber products, like transparent soles, TT racket skin, pharma transparent rubber products
etc
HIZINC 80 : this is off colour ( brown to slight gray ) calcined zinc oxide used in fertilizers etc, with
low cost
You can also expect the question that if your active zinc oxide has 70-95% zinc oxide content what is
the balance? The answer is that zinc oxide active is not exactly zinc oxide chemically. Chemically it is
a complex salt of zinc oxide, hydroxide and carbonate. We express the % as Zno only for
standardization and testing purposes. Active portion in the material is 80-99% as per different grades,
just like what seal has 99% zinc oxide, active zinc has 80-99% of the complex salt. For example in
MLA 900 which has 90 % as zinc oxide, the balance is around 5-6 % water of hydration or loss on
ignition and 2-4% is the calcium and zinc carbonates, which are not harmful for rubber in any way.
1) They melt on heating to form clear oil. Hence they can be mixed easily with polymers which are in
powder form, after which the mixed powder when it goes in extruder or other heated processing
equipment, the stearate would melt to provide lubrication between the polymer molecules. Zinc
Stearate is used in lower melting polymers such as HDPE, LDPE, PP as it melts at 120 c and
calcium stearate is is used in high melting polymer such as PVC as sit melts at 160 C. Why only
stearates are used, not other solid oils because of their fineness and dryness, due to which they can
mix more easily and uniformly than other liquid lubricants or sticky powders.
2) They can not mix with water under any conditions as they are organic and water is inorganic. If we
put as spoonful of zinc stearate overs water taken in a beaker, it will form a layer over the water.
Now if we dip our finger in the water, zinc stearate will go around will go around our finger inside
the water, and our finger will come out dry. This hydrophobic property is used for waterproofing.
Calcium stearate is mixed in very small % in cement paint/snowcem, which is in powder form. This
improves the waterproofing property of the cement paint.
3) In wood finishes (sanding sealers), zinc stearate is used a thickener for the solvent. Why it is used is
that, for this purpose a transparent and stable filler which is white and light, fine and having good
oil absorption is needed. Most importantly its refractive index should match with the solvent and it
should be transparent. Zinc stearate has these properties.
4) In EVA compounding, zinc stearate not only plays the role of lubricant as discussed in point 1
above, but also plays role in vulcanization, i.e. it is chemically involved in the vulcanization
reaction.
5) Aluminium Stearate has the property of forming gel with organic solvents such as kerosene and
MTO on heating. This waterproof transparent gel is applied as waterproofing on the canvas
tarpaulins mostly used by military. Also Aluminum stearate is an anti-settling agent in paints. The P
and H grades are distearates and we make mono stearate grade separately, the specification name of
which is Alst -MST. Aluminium tristearate we are still in the process of developing
6) In petrochemical plants manufacturing plastic resins like polyolefins ( HDPE, LDPE, LLDPE ) or
PP ( polypropylene ) cast or znst are used as acid scavengers and neutralizers. They react with the
transition metal radicals used as catalysts in the process as well as chloride ions which can form
HCL and degrade ( reduce stability ) of the polymer during storage and at the time of usage in
downstream applications. Petrochemical companies are huge and have thousands of tons per day
production, hence even though stearates are used in ppm levels, their total quantity is quite big ( 30-
150 tons per month ).
The various grades that we have of zinc and calcium stearates are as follows :-
DLI : this grade is a very fine thermally stable grade that is made by our own proprietory process
developed by our R&D. It is very fine in particle size, due to which is closely compares in bulk density
( it is light ) to precipitated ( wet process ) stearates made by certain manufacturers. However
precipitated grades have been phased our worldwide because although they are light, they have lot of
impurities and are not thermally stable. Our DLI grades combine the good features of light precipitated
material and thermally stable fusion ( direct process ) material.
DLI-SS grade : very fine particle size grade used for sanding sealer ( wood coating ) application. It has
very good drawdown ( finishing ) after application on wood.
DLI-ss -15 : cheaper version of the above with some filler mixed, but good drawdown ( finishing )
After this DLI -SS-30 and DLI-SS-50 grades are also available with reducing cost
DLI – TS grade : highly thermal stable grade against Faci / Peter Graven/ Sunace imported materials,
with very white colour. It is costly as it is made with imported stearic acid having IV around 0.2. It is
highly preferred by materbatch manufacturers who often check thermal stability and are very conscious
about it, though not all.
MB - We give to customers who give low rates for DLI. It works for plastic but not in paints. The
unique feature is that it not only has transparent melt but also transparency of the solid thin layer
formed after solidification of the melt. So the tikki / pellet formed after solidification of melt is
transparent.
LM grade: this is zinc stearate with slightly lesser melting point around 110 in place of 120 and slightly
less in cost than DLI grade. We give to customers who give low rates for DLI. It works for plastic but
not in paints
LMA – This is zinc stearate with slightly lesser melting point around 110 in place of 120 and even
lesser in cost than LM grade. We give to customers who give low rates for DLI. It works for plastic but
not in paints. Melt of this as well as well as DLI, LM, MB, LMA above is transparent.
Znst- D, MB2, LML, LMB are cheaper versions of above grade with slight cream colour due to cheaper
quality of stearic acid used.
LMC – this is a new grade similar to LMA and LMB but has much better flow and gives very good
results in filler masterbatches
DLI –UF grade : zinc stearate grade for urea formaldehyde moulding powder having exact pH of 6 as
per their requirement (light green colour with Fischer indicator )
MFLOW -10, 20, 30 : These are cheaper grades with decreasing price from 10 to 30 and also
decreasing purity as indicated by the decreasing zinc oxide or calcium oxide content. Generally they
work well with price sensitive customers in plastics processing. Their melt is not transparent.
1) Low moisture : As we use multistage dryer which nobody else in India is doing our product is
always having less than 1% moisture.
2) Low FFA (free fatty matter) or FFA (free fatty acid) this is basically the unreacted stearic acid and
should be less than 1.5%. In our DLI grade it is lowest, less than 0.5%.
3) Clear Melt : the melt should be transparent and either white or light yellow in colour. If it is dark
colour or non-transparent it shows adulteration or improper processing.
4) Heavy metals and irons : It should be free from heavy metals. Normally other manufacturers do not
have the technology to completely remover the heavy metals which come from the zinc or calcium
salt (raw material). Our product has almost complete removal of such heavy metals and iron.
5) Electrolytes/Salt : As our products are washed very carefully on fully automatic filter presses, our
salt contents are less than 0.5%.
Also our plant – reaction vessels, drying equipment etc. are all made of stainless steel, aluminium and
polypropylene due to which there is no iron contamination in our stearates.
Bulk density also plays a role as it is not only visually appealing to customer as the bag size is larger
but also reflects finer particle size and porosity (higher absorption) in the product.
Main competitors – Nimbasia, Evergreen, Goldstab, Baerlocher, Sunshine, Ravikiran, Gemini

MINERALS ( China clay, calcined clay, talc , soapstone, barites, calcite, dolomite )
TULSI range of micronized extenders and functional fillers are made using grinding equipment
coupled with air classifiers for achieving accuracy of topcut and average particle size ranging
from 2 microns average to 10 microns. The difference between MLA products and normal
minerals from cheaper sources are that they are just grinded , whereas MLA group products are
micronized and levigated. Micronized means that all particles above a certain size, say 20
microns or 10 microns depending on grade are removed . It is also called that topcut size is
maintained. Levigated means that free silica / quartz / sand which comes out along with mineral
when it is mined is completely removed by washing or other air floatation processes, so product
is soft and does not have hard abrasive particles.
Surface treated / Coated grades of minerals are available. Surface coating of minerals helps in
increasing its dispersion ( equal spreading ) in any application – rubber, plastics, paints and
hence improved results.
Calcined clay is processed at different temperatures from 800-1150 C for different applications
such as cables, paints etc. by this the physical structure of minerals changes as its chemically
combined water molecules are driven out and it becomes more hard, opaque and porous . It
hence gives better hiding power / opacity in paints . Also as all germs etc are killed at high
temperature it becomes fit for pharma grade rubber and plastics use. Also electrical conductivity
decreases and it becomes suitable for cables filling application.
Carbonate free talc is available with whiteness as high as 97 % and free from grit and free silica /
quartz.
Acidic pH fillers are available for extending shelf life of uncured rubber products like patch
compounds.
Snow-white china clay TULSI range is very famous worldwide for its high whiteness, neutral pH,
low moisture , non – plastic ( free flowing ) nature, low loss on ignition and high chemical purity,
hence highly suitable for paints , rubber , pesticides etc.
Bartyes , calcite and dolomite of different mesh size and colour are available.
Following are the benefits of our LEVIGATED MICRONIZED CHINA CLAY (TULSI -052/053)
compared to the normal china clay and kaolins available. These properties make them highly desirable in
all kinds of applications where low moisture, high whiteness, free flow, 6-7 pH and grit-free filler is
required.
pH 6-7 8-9
ADC is a yellow coloured powder which is used as a blowing agent/foaming agent to release gas (mainly
Nitrogen and Carbon Monoxide) to form a uniform gas matrix of entrapped gas inside the polymer in
which it is mixed, giving a foam/sponge effect when the polymer mix containing ADC is heated during
processing. It is synthesized by a series of reactions involving the use of caustic lye ( sodium hydroxide ),
chlorine, urea and sulphuric acid. The yellow powder is dried and then grinded to different particle sizes
which leads to different grades. The micronizing or particle size reduction is carried out in an equipment
called jet mill. There are generally 3 different grades based on particle size - 10-12 microns, 6-8 microns
and 3-5 microns. While the higher particle sizes are good for footwear, sheets etc, the lowest one 3-5
microns is required in thin section products like PVC leather cloth ( raxeen ), PVC wall paper etc where a
very fine cellular structure is required within the thin sheet. Recently for XLPE foams larger cell structure
is required for which ADC with particle size 15-20 microns is needed which is difficult to maker and
costlier. We make two grades F-2 with 8-10 microns and F-1 with 4-6 microns which covers almost the
entire market.
When originally made ADC has a decomposition temperature of 200 degree C. This is our F series. The
decomposition temperature can be lowered down to 150-190 degree C as per the application need by
coating it with a very small quantity of kickers like zinc oxide etc. This forms our L series or 4075 series.
For example L5 grade has a DT of 190 deg C, 4075 EVA grade used in EVA sheets or injection moulded
products has a DT of 185 degree C whereas 4075 PVC grade has a decomposition temperature of 160 deg
C. These products are generally in a similar price bracket close to pure ADC since purity is almost same.
After this comes the highly modified or formulated grades such as EV and PT which have a DT in the
range of 120-140 Deg C as you may see in the chart below. These are made by blending with another type
of blowing agent called DNPT or simply PT along with other non gas releasing ingredients due to which
the gas yield is less, DT is lower and cost is also reduced. These are generally used where natural rubber
blended with EVA or LDPE polymer is used to make hawaii type of lower cost footwear. EV has higher
gas than PT grade and is hence costlier than PT grade
Now the question may come to your mind that when polymers are generally processed at a temperature
around 150 deg C, how would the higher grades like F or L series release gas as their DT is higher than the
processing temperature. Actually the DT of ADC is lowered down in the presence of chemicals like zinc
oxide, stearic acid etc and these are already used and present in the rubber / polymer matrix as other
functional ingredients. Hence due to interaction with them, the DT gets lowered down below the
processing temperature. If not, then either the user changes the grade to the required lower DT grade or
they use kickers like zinc oxide or others to reduce the DT.
1) In EVA / LD rubber based blocks/sheets which are cut into footwear and spongy
packing material.
2) In EVA footwear that are directly made in single piece by injection (EVA Injection)
3) In floorings of vinyl.
4) Leather cloth ( raxeen )
5) Foamboard or WPC ( wood plastic composite ). While the other applications above are
all flexible type due to the use of plasticizer oils, WPC is a rigid sheet made with PVC,
foaming agent and other chemicals which is becoming increasingly popular these days
to replace wood in doors, windows, furniture etc. The white PVC thick sheet is very
strong and termite resistant as well as water proof. It is further laminated to give wooden
finish as per the colour and design choice of the customer. We specialize in the AC (
yellow, exothermic grades ) and NC ( white , endothermic grades ) which are used in
combination for this application.
Hence UNICELL – ADC is a very fine particle sized chemical blowing agent used to produce unicellular products /
foamed articles of PVC, HDPE/ LDPE, EVA, PP, ABS etc by extrusion, injection moulding, calendaring and other
processes.
UNICELL – ADC despite being yellow in colour gives a white decomposition residue and hence does not impart
any colour to the vulcanized product, nor any odour.
Selection for use and performance is related to the following product parameters which are optimized in our various
grades :
1 ) Gas Yeild ( gas evolved per unit weight of the blowing agent )
2 ) Decomposition temperature ( can be modified from 160-200 C )
3 ) Particle size distribution ( varies D50 average from 4-15 microns )

GLYCEROL MONO STEARATE (GMS)
This grade manufactured using Pharmaceutical Grade Glycerine and Triple Pressed Cosmetic Grade
Stearic Acid primarly for the food manufacturers, in particular for the Bread and Biscuit Manufacturers
This Product has an off-white/cream colour and is also available in both SE (self emulsifying) and NSE
(Non self emulsifying) grade.
GMS is an essential component in the manufacturer of ice cream alongwith natural gums. It allows for a
homogenous mix of water and fats and prevents the formation of icicles in the ice cream mixture.
Use in Toffees
It is directly used in melted toffees by weight of 0.2% of dosage.
The addition of GMS can help bind the oil and oil-based flavouring into a confection, reducing sweating
and problems with rancidity. One property of emulsifiers that is particularly important is the improvement
in emulsification in high fat content confections such as butterscotch and caramels. During the
Manufacturing process high-sugar content syrup is produced in which fat globules are dispersed. The finer
these globules are the better will be the eating qualities. The higher the level of water left in a confection of
this type, the higher the danger of stickiness and graining, GMS is a highly effective emulsifier to ensure
maximum fat dispersion and minimum stickiness.
B) Industrial Grade :-
This product contains 30% monoester and is not of Food Grade/Pharmaceutical Grade quality, but is
widely used by cost – conscious, low quality manufacturers of Bread, Biscuits and other food products as
well as in PVC. It helps to increase the shine and flow in PVC pipes and other products being a very good
multi functional lubricant.
GMS from MLA group is available in both powder and flakes form and it is available in self
emulsifying ( SE ) and non self emulsifying ( NSE ) grades. SE grades is mostly used in bakery
applications and NSE in chewing gums etc. In plastics SE or NSE both can be used. In cosmetics SE
grade is mostly used.
PVC HEAT STABILIZERS (ONE PACK)
Poly(vinyl chloride (PVC) is one of the most important commercial plastic and its compounds have a great
diversity of applications and methods of processing. But, PVC is thermally unstable at processing
temperatures. Once PVC gets heated up to 170°, hydrogen and chlorine are eliminated. Decomposition starts
and leads to the release of HCl (autocatalytic dehydrochlorination). Unstable molecules (allylic chlorine
structure) appear, which in turn, stimulate the next HCl loss. And so on, this is a chain reaction. This process
degrades polymer. The factors which promote PVC degradation include:-
1. Mixing cycles (dry blend, banbury, high-speed plastisol dispersators)
2. Processing (calender, extruder, molder)
3. Fabricating (embossing, thermoforming, laminating)
4. Heat and light energy of outdoor exposure
5. Heat of a product’s use environment (auto interior, hot air duct)
Heat stabilizers trap the hydrogen chloride that is generated when PVC decomposes at high temperatures and
prevent discoloration and degradation and also can provide lubrication to the whole process
We make Lead based, calcium zinc based and mixed metal powder type stabilizers. We do not make mixed
metal liquid stabilizers, organotins and organic stabilizers.
In PVC Processing (extrusion, injection moulding etc..), the polymer is subjected to high temperature
which can lead to burning )degradation or breaking of polymer chains. Heat stabilizers are lead
compounds that are added to prevent burning.
Conventionally combination of three chemicals, TBLS ( 88 % lead oxide- PbO ), DBLS ( 54 % ) and
LS( 27 % ) (Tribasic lead sulphate, dibasic Lead stearate and Lead stearate) were used as heat stablizers
with Calcium Stearate as a co-stabilizer. These are also called single stabilizers. DBLphosphite ( 88%)
and DBLpthalate ( 78 % ) are also used as single stabilizers in Pipes and Cables respectively to improve
UV resistance and Electrical properties respectively
Now one–pack is used in place of the three chemicals as heat stabilizer. It is made by in-situ reaction of
lead oxide with stearic acid along with many other components like waxes, anti oxidants etc, which
were not there in the conventional system of single stabilizers above. Its performance depends on two
things
1) the lead oxide content which provides stabilization by deactivating the chloride radical formed
during heated melt processing of PVC during extrusion and
2) by providing lubrication so that the residence time inside the screw extruder ( heated zone ) is
reduced, so less deterioration is there.
Given below are our important grades with the lead oxide content in bracked and the competitors grade
comparable to it in the chart. We also make TBLS, DBLS, LS and DBLP ( phthalate and phosphite )
single stabilizers.

* this is an old chart and since this field is very dynamic, manufacturers come up with new grades every
month and also provide customized grades to users, hence there are hundreds of grades and to offer the
right product we need to collect sample or go by correct specification of lead content / lubrication
content provided by the user. We also maintain a database of samples tested, so if a grade has been
recently tested, we know what to offer.
Dosage : the dosage of stabilizers per hundred parts of resin ( PVC ) is 2.5-3.5 phr, but it depends on lead
content in stabilizer and the filler used by PVC product mfr, if filler is more, the dosage required is more.
Detailed application knowledge and formula ./ recipe for any customer can be provided by our technical
services manager, but most important is the operator setting. If operator does not want to run a product, he
can even reject the best product. We must know competitor grade and we can offer accordingly, for new
grades we have to collect samples which can be tested in our lab and counter sample developed
Calcium zinc non toxic stabilizer is the preferred choice over lead based stabilizers which are completely
banned in developed countries and slowly being phased out world over. Calcium zinc stabilizers are a
complex mixture of over 10-15 ingredients like stearates, organic stabilizers, inorganic stabilizers, anti
oxidants, lubricants, fillers etc.
In cable industry or platicized PVC ( 40-50 phr of plasticizers like DOP, DBP, TOTM , CPW etc ) the
grades are developed to give good static stability ( colour of PVC compound at 180 C for different times,
tikki test, a chart of colour deterioration with time is prepared ), thermal stability ( congo red time or time
taken for the PVC compound to decompose ) and the volume resistivity, the wet VR, colour holding (
uncured compound should not change colour etc ) . For this we have a full fledged PVC lab to check
performance of our various grades. The grades are defined on the basis of service temperature of the cable
and can be 70, 90, 105 or 125 degree C. We accordingly have grades CZ-815( 70 deg ), CZ-835( 80 deg ),
CZ-55(90 deg ), CZ-PSTAB-4 ( 105 deg ), CZ-889 NM ( 125 deg ) and many others as per specific
requirement of clients.
In pipe industry which is unplasticized, hard or rigid, the stabilizer is developed to give good stability and
smooth flow through the extruder. This is done by static heat stability test, Rheometer test to check flow
and stability properties, and also through checking the load in actual extrusion on a pilot or full scale plant.
We have two main grades here, CZ 321-P ( premium grade ) against 3210 of Baerlocher and CZ-333 (
economy grade ). We also have a grade RP-20 for WPC. We also have grades LVT-01, 2 and 3 for SPC (
stone plastic composite ) flooring which is a growing application
In rheometer graph as above you can get a stability time report ( 691 seconds in our RP-40 vs 501 seconds
in Sunace 911 grade above ) which tells how much effective the stabilizer is.
Competitors are the same as in lead based stabilizers but few more are there ( multinationals ) like Adeka,
Galata chemicals, Patchem etc.
We make Barium- cadmium, Barium-Lead and Barium-Zinc stabilizers which are mostly used in PVC
footwear compounding. Competing products are Pondy oxides SC-16, Baerlocher 2165 etc. Our lead free
grade 214-F works very well in footwear as per new BIS lead free requirement
LUBRICANTS and ESTERS
1 ) Polyethylene wax PE-7 : this is a refined wax made from low polymer waxes from petrochemicals
industries by refining and distillation to remove the water and solvents ( hexane mostly ) and low
molecular chains. It melts on heating to around 100 deg c and provides external lubrication in products like
PVC pipes and profiles and in masterbatches. A good PE wax should be crisp ( non oily ) which is
reflected in its penetration hardness. A good PE wax for masterbatches or PVC with minimum oil content
has hardness 4-6. As the hardness increases, it becomes more costly and is used in speciality applications
and as it decreases it becomes more oily and sticky. There are many unrefined or semi - refined PE waxes
in the market which have hardness 8-20. Our colour is brilliant white. As the average molecular chain
length increases the wax becomes more viscous. Our wax generally has viscocity below 100 cps, majorly
below 50 cps, so its flow is high, which is beneficial for lubrication. Some masterbatch manufacturers ask
for high viscocity above 200 which we do not manufacture currently. But for general masterbatches 50 cps
is suitable. Also for PVC pipes high lubrication or low viscocity is best. Some of our competitors for this
product include Marcus Oil Haldia, Silvassa plastics silvassa, Cosmic Petro Baddi, Camex Gujrat, Yamuna
wax Noida etc. PE wax is also used in big quantity in road marking paints.
2 ) EBS : Ethylene bis stearamide is also called amide wax and companies like Fine Organics sell it under a
code name like wax - c to hide its actual identity. It is actually a high melting point lubricant ( 145 Dec C )
which is very effective in masterbatches and does not decompose and provided better results at lower
dosage. It also provide anti slip properties in films and hence specially used in film grade masterbatches
3 ) Unilub MBT-3 : This is a composite lubricant for mastebatches made by insitu generation of a mixture
of stearates, pe wax and EBS which gives very good results. It is developed against fine organics Plastaid-
T or Liberty chemicals similar product Libaid T-2
4 ) Unilub MLA-20 : This is a latest composite lubricant for PVC pipes having stearic acid, paraffin wax,
PE wax etc against Baerlocher BL-20 and gives excellent output
5 ) Unilub 55 and S-5 : This is a composite lubricant for PVC pipes having stearic acid, paraffin wax, PE
wax and calcium stearate
6 ) Penta erythritol tri stearate and tetra stearate – advanced lubricants used in plastics as well as other
applications
7 ) EGMS ( ethylene gylcol mono stearate ) , EGDS (ethylene gylcol di stearate ) - used as polar /
internal lubricants in PVC, used as emollient or emulsifier in cometics and EGDS is used to give pearl
effect in shampoos
8 ) GMS -glycerol mono stearate- is used as an anti static agent and to increase shine in pipes. In foods it
is used as emulsifier for ice cream, bread, chocolate, biscuits etc
Apart from plastics, there are many other applications of esters. Some of the most remarkable ones are in
food and cosmetics. Sizeable container load volumes of Sorbitan Tri Stearates are exported as a melting
point suppressant or haziness / turbidity preventer in edible oils like palm oil. STS also goes in big
quantities in chocolate manufacturing -

IP stands for Indian Pharmacopoeia, a book in several thick volumes which covers all pharma raw
materials as well as their specifications and test methods. A company making IP grade products is
supposed to ensure that the products it manufactures finally meet the specifications laid down. Similarly
there are standards in UK ( british pharmacopoeia), USA ( US Ph..), JP ( japanese ), EP ( European -
almost same as British ). These are the popular standards. We have permission for IP/ BP/USP from drug
controller office or Food and Drug Administration. For each substance that is used in pharma, the
pharmacopoeia contains the test methods and limits for various parameters / properties, which is called the
monograph for that substance. The finished product testing must be done as per the monograph for that
substance in our lab.
The pharma raw material manufacturing has to be done under very closely controlled conditions, both in
terms of infrastructure ( building, machinery etc ) as well as process ( manpower, records, testing etc ). The
book of standards is called Schedule M ( available for study ).
Each company should have a site master file that has A to Z information about the unit, its manpower,
process, suppliers, testing, etc. It is called SMF. Both FDA as well as customer auditors need this file in
hard and soft copy time to time.
Similarly for each item that you manufacture, there is a DMF ( or drug master file ) which has A to Z
information on that product's manufacturing, rms, testing etc. The open part of DMF has the general info
apart from confidential information that customers ask for to check time to time. The closed part contains
confidential information about process etc. Many customers ask that the DMF should be registered with the
US drugs department. Registration can be done online.
In pharma business, documentation and presentation is very important. The Pharmacopoeias keep changing
time to time and there are new versions. Many customers have a particular version as their standard and
they ask for material corresponding to that particular standard. Also the production and machine cleaning,
batch changing data etc has to be very carefully recorded.
The unit must have a manufacturing chemist and an analytical chemist who have to be approved by the
Drugs office in Lucknow after interview or should hold a previous license. They are responsible if anything
goes wrong.
The customer also asks for stability data of 2-3 years many a times, which is the data of change in
material's critical properties over a period of 2-3 years. If the change is negligible then product is
considered as stable. A stability chamber having adjustable heat and humidity is used to check the stability.
We have this machine in our lab.
Now pharma raw materials are different from normal because they are going to be used for human
consumption. So apart from purity, two more things become very important. It should be free from heavy
metals such as Pb, As, Ni, Cr, Hg which are poisonous. To check these impurities in PPM level, we need
AAS ( atomic absorption spectrophotometer ) which is there in our lab. Secondly it should be free from
pathogens ( Bacteria ( total viable count- TVC ) - max limit 1000 colony forming unit/gm , Yeast and
moulds ( Y&M ) - 100 cfu/gm max limit, and totally free from E Coil and Salmonallae ). These can be
checked in microbiological lab under microscope and laminar flow meter etc. We also have an in house
microbiology lab. To make the material free from these pathogens is called sterilization, for which we need
to either put them in a costly fumigation machine called ETO - ethylene oxide treatment chamber or we
have to sterilize by heat. We have both these arrangements.
Normally it is very time consuming to get approvals with big pharma companies who have long procedures
and also audit the plant based on international standards. Some times they ask for costly certifications like
EXCIPACT and GMP ( pharma GMP ) which we do not have. We are in the process of locating sufficient
market to be able to invest in these certifications. We are also in the process of making our documentation
stronger and expanding our plant facilities.
There are also many distributors who sell to pharma industry and have years of relations with them. Also
most small pharma companies need few hundred Kgs which is not possible to cater directly. Hence the
need to appoint a strong distributor network. Also major volumes can come from exports, by having
countrywise distributors.
Main competitors are Nitika Pharma, Neelkanth, Vasa Pharma, Sudeep Pharma, Sparchem etc.
Out of the current licensed products Magnesium stearate, talc, zinc oxide and kaolin are quite popular in
given order of use and these are the products which we have to discuss about first when prospecting with
distributors. These are the products which distributors will easily recognize
There is a lot of documentation involved for each new customer which we create in pharma industry. We
have to complete their VQ ( vendor qualification ) form which is done by documentation manager in the
pharma plant. We also have to face online and offline audits in which customer checks our factory and
systems and documentation/ records. Customer also wants many certificates and declarations for each
product that they want to buy like allergen free certificate, GMO free certificate, Drug license, GMP,
stability data and so on. We have compiled a Technical Data Pack ( TDP ) for each of our 32 products
which can be easily forwarded to customer so that every time we don’t have to attach 50 different
certificates.
