Activity 1. Think-Pair- Share

1. Get a partner(A and B)

2. Discuss the Sabre-tooth Curriculum and answer the following:

a. Does the sabre-tooth curriculum still exist at present? Give an example of your
evidence.

 In my personal opinion, the sabre-tooth curriculum still exist up until today for the
reason that our educational system teaches student on how to do particular tasks on
their own and we let them do things which can help them exercise their minds as well as
their skills.

b. Describe the kind of curriculum that exists as describe in the article.

 The curriculum that was being describe on the article actually conveys a message in a
form of premise ‘’ we should teach them on how to catch a fish using hands rather than
using a net.’’ In which it implies that we teachers/future teachers, we must teach the
young on how to manipulate their cognition, we should let them think and we should let
them do things on their own rather than spoiling them with all their needs and covets.

c. What does the author mean, when he said ‘’ a curriculum should be timeless?’’
explain.

 it simply means that our education system should fit with the needs of the time and
serve a purpose. Ultimately, these curricular decisions should be made by our society,
rather than by the individual teachers, school buildings, or districts.

2. Agree
3. Agree

4. Agree

5. Agree

6. Agree

7. Agree

8. Agree

9. Disagree

10. Agree

Activity B

1. It is necessary for teachers to learn about school curriculum? Why? Write your answer
on the space provided.

 It is necessary for the teachers to learn about the school curriculum because the
teachers are the one who plan, design, teach, implement and evaluate the school
curriculum. Because if the teachers lacks knowledge about the school curriculum,
he/she will not know what to teach and how to teach it well. For the reason that, the
curriculum acts as the roadmap for the teachers and the students to follow on the path
to academic success. The teacher are obliged to have knowledge about the school
curriculum because it is the curriculum who informs the teachers as to what knowledge
and skills that need to be taught to the students to ensure that they are prepared for
the future. And help the teachers to ensure that the students are on the right track to
reaching their goals and honoured desired skills. I conclude that, the teacher have
significant role in the curriculum planning, designing and implementing. So, it is really
necessary for the teacher to have enough knowledge and to learn about school
curriculum.

I am a Teacher! Who Am I as a Curricularist?

presented.

1. Innovates the curriculum

2. Knows the curriculum
3. Implements the curriculum
4. Writes the curriculum
5. Innovates the curriculum
6. Knows the curriculum
8. initiates the curriculum
9. knows the curriculum
10. implements the curriculum
c. Summative Assessment
Choose one from case 1 to 10 above. Reflect on the case you have chosen and
write your reflections on the box below. Ask your classmates to read and comment
on your reflection. Both of you discuss your answers.

Name:_________________________________________________ case no.____________

A. My reflection on case no_________________________(refer to cases 1 to 10 above)

 My reflection in case number 6 ‘’ the knowledge is limitless. What I learned in college is

not enough. I need to know more, so I enrolled in the graduate school to advance my
learning’’, it seems that he/she having a role of curricularist have knows the curriculum,
because before you are going to teach your students you must know first the curriculum
and you must understand it first. According to that case he/she must enrol again in the
graduate school to learn more to understand it. Because the knowledge that he/she
have is limitless. That’s why the thing or the act that she/he knows is a good impact to
that future teacher like us. Because being a future teacher I must know first the content
of the curriculum I must understand it first before to teach my future students.
