COMPUTER SYSTEM SERVICING NCII STEP By STEP TUTORIAL

SERVER: Setting IP Address and Computer Name

1. To set IP Address: right click LAN Icon > select Open and Sharing Center
2. > click Change Adapter Settings > right click Local Area Network > select Properties
3. > click Internet Protocol Version 4(TCP/IPV4) > click Properties
4. > click Use the following IP Address
5. > type IP Address: example: 192.168.1.1
6. > click Subnet Mask: (inside the box) 255.255.255.0
7. > type Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1 (optional)
8. > type Preferred DNS Server: 192.168.1.1 (the same as server IP add)
9. > click OK
10. > uncheck Internet Protocol Version 6(TCP/IPV6)
11. > click Close.
12. To set Computer name: click Start (left down corner icon)
13. > right click Computer
14. > select Properties
15. > click Change Settings
16. > click Change
17. > change Computer Name > type SERVER
18. > click OK (wait till window pop–up) click OK > click Close
19. > click Restart Now.(the computer will reboot automatically)

CLIENT: Setting IP Address and Computer Name

1. To set IP Address: right click LAN Icon > select Open and Sharing Center
2. > click Change Adapter Settings > right click Local Area Network > select Properties
3. > click Internet Protocol Version 4(TCP/IPV4) > click Properties
4. > click Use the following IP Address
5. > type IP Address: example: 192.168.1.2 (client IP add must be proceeding IP add of
server)
6. > click Subnet Mask: (click inside the box) 255.255.255.0
7. > type Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1 (optional)
8. > type Preferred DNS Server: 192.168.1.1 (the same as server ip add)
9. > click OK
10. > uncheck Internet Protocol Version 6(TCP/IPV6)
11. > click Close.
12. To set Computer Name: click Start (left down corner icon)
13. > right click My Computer
14. > click Properties
15. > click Change Settings
16. > click Change
17. > change Computer Name > type CLIENT
18. > click OK (wait till window pop-up) > click OK > click Close

19. > click Restart Now. (the computer will reboot automatically)
SERVER: To Turn Off Windows Firewall

1. > click Start


2. > click Control Panel > click System and Security
3. > click Windows Firewall
4. > click Turn Windows Firewall On or Off
5. > click button Turn Off Windows Firewall (not recommended)
6. > click OK.

CLIENT: To Turn Off Windows Firewall

1. > click Start


2. > click Control Panel > click System and Security
3. > click Windows Firewall
4. > click Turn Windows Firewall On or Off
5. > click button Turn Off Windows Firewall (not recommended)
6. > click OK.

SERVER: Ping CLIENT IP Address

1. > press keyboard Windows Icon + R


2. > type cmd > click OK or press ENTER
3. > type ping<space>client IP Address (ex: ping 192.168.1.2)
(Note: Make sure that the reply from client IP Add will appear to cmd, if not the
configuration is incorrect)

CLIENT: Ping SERVER IP Address

1. > press keyboard Windows Icon + R


2. > type cmd > click OK or press ENTER
3. > type ping<space>server IP Address (ex: ping 192.168.1.1)
(Note: Make sure that the reply from server IP Add will appear to cmd, if not the
configuration is incorrect)

Obtain Client to Server:

1. > right click LAN Icon > select Open and Sharing Center
2. > click Change Adapter Settings
3. > right click Local Area Connection > select Properties
4. > click Internet Protocol Version 4(TCP/IPV4) > click Properties
5. > click Obtain an IP address automatically
6. > click OK > click Close.

SERVER:

Install Active Directory Domain Services (ADDS):

1. > click Server Manager > click Roles > click Add Roles > click Next
2. > check Active Directory Domain Services
3. > click Add Required Features
4. > click Next > click Next > click Install
5. > after installing, click Close.
Install DNS Server:

1. > press keyboard Windows icon + R


2. > type dcpromo > click OK or press Enter
3. > click Next > click Next
4. > click button "Create a new domain in a new forest" > click Next
5. > type your domain name (example: css.local) > click Next
6. > click down arrow Forest function level > select Windows Server 2008 R2 > click
Next
7. > click Next > click Yes > click Next
8. > type Password/Confirm Password: P@ssword > click Next > click Next
9. > check button Reboot on completion. (Computer will restart automatically)

Install DHCP Server:

1. > click Server Manager > click Roles > click Add Roles > click Next
2. > check DHCP Server > click Next > click Next > click Next
3. > change 127.0.0.1 to server ip address 192.168.1.1 (or the Preferred DNS of Server)
4. > click Validate (make sure that the word "Valid" will appear)
5. > click Next > click Next
6. > click Add
7. > type Scope Name: (example: IP Range)
8. > type Starting IP Address: 192.168.1.2 (starting address must be a client IP add)
9. > type Ending IP Address: 192.168.1.9 (must be a proceeding IP add of client)
10. > click OK > click Next > click button Disable DHCPv6 stateless mode for this
server
11. > click Next > click Next > click Install
12. > after Installation succeeded: > click Close.

SERVER:

Create User Account for Folder Redirection and Deploy Printers

1. > click Start > click Administrative Tools


2. > click Active Directory Users and Computers
3. > double click css.local(domain name)
4. > right click Users (under domain name)
5. > click New > click User
6. > type firstname: (ex: user1)
7. > User logon name: (ex: user1) > click Next
8. > uncheck all > type Password/Confirm Password: (ex: P@ssword) > check Password never
expires
9. > click Next > click Finish.

10. > right click Users (under domain name) > click New > click User
11. > firstname: ( ex: user2)
12. > User logon name: (ex: user2) > click Next
13. > uncheck all > type Password/Confirm Password: (ex: P@ssword) > check Password
never expires
14. > click Next > click Finish.

15. > right click > Users (under domain name) > click New > click Group
16. > type Redirection (your group name)> click OK
17. > right click css.local (domain name) > select New > click Organizational Unit
18. > type Printing (your OU for printing) > click OK.

19. > right click css.local (domain name) > select New > click Organizational Unit
20. > type Redirection (your OU for folder redirection) > click OK.

21. > double click Users (under domain name) > right click Redirection Security Group
> click Properties
22. > click Members > click Add
23. > type Domain > click Check Names > select Domain Users > click OK > click OK.

24. > click Add
25. > type Admin > click Check Names > click OK > Select Domain Users > click OK.

26. > click Member of > click Add
27. > type Domain > click Check Names > select Domain Users > click OK.

28. > click Add
29. > type Admin > click Check Names > click OK > select Domain Users
30. > click Apply > click OK.

31. > right click user1 > click Move > click Printing folder (under Users folder)
> click OK
32. > right click user2 > click Move > click Redirection folder (under Users folder)
> click OK.

33. > click Printing folder > right click user1 > click Properties > click Member of
> click Add
34. > type Redirect > click Check Names > click OK > click Apply > click OK.

35. > click Redirection folder > right click user2 > click Properties > click Member of
> click Add
36. > type Redirect > click Check Names > click OK
37. > click Apply > click OK. (close window)

CLIENT: Connect to Domain

1. > click Start


2. > right click Computer > select Properties
3. > click Change Settings
4. > click Change
5. > click button Domain > type your domain name: css.local
6. > type User name: administrator > type Password: P@ssword (password that you create)
7. > click OK > click OK > click OK > click Close > click Restart Now.
(computer will reboot)

SERVER: Check Connected Client to Domain

1. > click Server Manager


2. > double click Roles > double click DHCP Server > double click server.css.local
3. > double click IPv4 > double click Scope [192.168.1.0] IP Range
4. > double click Address Leases.
(Note: Make sure that CLIENT.css.local IP is existing, if not the configuration is
incorrect)
Install File Services/Setup Folder for Folder Redirection

1. > click Server Manager > click Roles > click Add Roles > click Next
2. > check File Services > click Next > click Next
3. > check File Server Resource Manager > click Next
4. > check Local Disk (C:) > click Next > click Next
5. > click Install > click Close.

6. > click Start
7. > double click My Computer
8. > double click Local Disk (C:)
9. > right click on window > select New > click New Folder
10. > Rename it into Shared
11. > right click Shared folder > click Properties
12. > click Sharing Tab > click Share
13. > type Everyone (or type name of user you want to share) > click Add
14. > click Everyone Permission Level (or user you add) into Read/Write > click Share
15. > remember the Root Path of shared folder (ex: \\SERVER\shared)
16. > click Done > click Close.

17. > click Start
18. > type Group Policy Management
19. > click Group Policy Management
20. > double click Forest: css.local
21. > double click Domain
22. > double click css.local
23. > right click Redirection (under css.local) > click Create a GPO in this domain,
and link it here…
24. > type Folder Redirection > click OK > double click Redirection (under css.local)
25. > click Folder Redirection (GPO) > check Do not show this message again
26. > click OK
27. > right click Folder Redirection (GPO) > click Edit
28. > under User Configuration > double click Policies
29. > double click Windows Settings > double click Folder Redirection
30. > right click Documents > select Properties
31. > on Target, click arrow select Basic – Redirect everyone’s folder to the same
location
32. > on the Root Path, type the location of folder you'd created (ex: \\SERVER\shared)
33. > click Apply > click Yes > click OK.

Client: Folder Redirection

1. > restart Client Computer (wait to boot the computer)


2. > login User in Redirection (ex:user2)
3. > press Ctrl + Alt + Delete > click Switch User > click Other User
4. > login Username: (ex: user2@css.local) and Password: (ex: P@ssword) > press Enter
5. > click Start > click Documents
6. > right click window > select New > click Folder > rename it (ex: Testing Folder)
7. > right click window > select New > click Text Document > rename it(ex: Testing
Document)
8. > press keyboard Windows + R > type: gpupdate<space>/force
9. > type Y, press Enter. (computer will reboot)
Server: Folder Redirection

1. > click Start > right click My Computer


2. > double click Local Disk (C:) (Note: Make sure that user2 folder will appear)
3. > double click user2 folder
4. > right click Documents > click Properties > click Security Tab
5. > click Continue > click Other users or groups
6. > type Domain > click Check Names > select Domain Users > click OK > click OK
7. > click OK > click OK
8. > double click Documents > click Continue.
(Note: Make sure that sample folder and sample document of client is existing.)

Install Remote Desktop Services

1. > click Server Manager > click Roles > click Add Roles > click Next
2. > check Remote Desktop Services > click Next > click Next
3. > check Remote Desktop Session Host
4. > click Install Remote Desktop Session Host anyway (not recommended)
5. > check Remote Desktop Gateway, click Add Required Role Services
6. > click Next > click Next > select Do not require Network Level Authentication
7. > click Next > click Next > click Add
8. > type Domain > click Check Names > select Domain Users > click OK > click OK
9. > click Next > click Next > select Choose a certificate for SSL encryption later
10. > click Next > click Next > click Add
11. > type Domain > click Check Names > select Domain Users > click OK > click OK
12. > click Next > click Next
13. > select Allow users to connect to any computer on the network > click Next
14. > click Next > check Routing and Remote Access Services
15. > check Health Registration Authority > click Add Required Role Services
16. > check Host Credential Authorization Protocol > click Add Required Role Services
17. > click Next > choose Select a CA later using the RHA console
18. > click Next > click Next
19. > select Don’t use SSL or choose a certificate for SSL encryption later
20. > click Next > click Next > click Next > click Install > click Close > click Yes.
(Note: Wait to restart and finish the configuration of updates.)

Allow Remote Desktop Connection

1. > press Ctrl + Alt + Del


2. > type Username: Administrator and Password: P@ssword
3. > wait to finish the installation of Remote Desktop Services
4. > click Close.
5. > right click My Computer > click Properties
6. > click Remote Settings
7. > select Allow connection from computers running any version of Remote Desktop
(less secure)
8. > click Apply > click OK.
Client: Remote Desktop

1. > click Start > right click My Computer > click Properties > click Remote Settings
2. > type Username: Administrator and Password: P@ssword > click Yes
3. > select Allow connection from computers running any version of Remote Desktop
(less secure)
4. > click Select Users > click Add
5. > type Domain > click Check Names > select Domain Users > click OK > click OK
6. > click OK > click Apply > click OK
7. > click Start > type Remote Desktop Connection > click Remote Desktop Connection
8. > type SERVER > click Connect
9. > click User another account
10. > type Username: Administrator and Password: P@ssword > click OK
(Note: If you login into SERVER desktop, your Remote Desktop from Client to
Server is successful.)
11. > click X button to terminate Remote Desktop Connection on Server
12. > click Start > type cmd > click cmd > type ipconfig > press Enter
(Note: check IP Address of client and remember it.)

Server: Remote Desktop

1. > click Start > type Remote Desktop Connection > click Remote Desktop Connection
2. > type CLIENT IP Address > click Connect
3. > click User another account
4. > type Username: user1 or user2 and Password: P@ssword > click OK
5. > click Yes
(Note: If you login into CLIENT desktop, your Remote Desktop from Server to
Client is successful.)
6. > click X button to terminate Remote Desktop Connection on Client.

Install Print and Document Services

1. > click Server Manager > click Roles > click Add Roles > click Next
2. > click Print and Document Services > click Next
3. > click Next > click Install > click Close.

Deploy Printer

1. > click Start > click Devices and Printers


2. > right click Printer you want to deploy > click Printer properties
3. > click Sharing Tab > check Share this printer > check List in the directory
4. > click Apply > click OK.
5. > click Start > type Group Policy Management
6. > click Group Policy Management
7. > double click Forest: css.local
8. > double click Domains
9. > double click css.local
10. > right click Printing > click Create a GPO in this domain, and link it here…
11. > type Printing (GPO name) > click OK > double click Printing
12. > click Start > click Administrative Tools > click Print Management
13. > double click Print Servers
14. > double click SERVER (local) > click Printers
15. > right click on Printer you want to Deploy (ex:Canon iP2770/Epson L210/Epson
L120)
16. > click Deploy with Group Policy…
17. > click Browse > double click Printing.css.local > click Printing > click OK
18. > check The user that this GPO applies to (per user) > click Add
> click Apply > click OK > click OK.
CLIENT:

Checking Deployed Printers

1. > restart Client Computer (wait to boot the computer)


2. > login User in Printing (ex: user1)
3. > press Ctrl + Alt + Delete > click Switch User > click Other User
4. > login Username: (ex: user1@css.local) and Password: {ex: P@ssword) > press Enter
5. > click Start > click Devices and Printers > check list of printers if any
6. > click Start > type cmd > type: gpupdate<space>/force
(Note: If printer you deploy will appear to the Devices and Printer, the
configuration is correct.)

LAPTOP

Connect Laptop to Domain


1. > connect your laptop into Wireless Access Point Router (WAP)
2. > Input the required password for WAP
3. > click Start
4. > right click My Computer
5. > click Properties
6. > click Change Settings > click Change
7. > click Domain > type css.local > click OK
8. > User Account Control will appear > type Administrator and Password > click OK
9. > click OK > click OK > click Close > click Restart Now. (PC will Reboot)

Ping Server (Domain)


1. > click Start
2. > type cmd
3. > click cmd
4. > type ping server IP add
(Note: Make sure that reply from SERVER IP add will appear to cmd, if not the
configuration is incorrect.)

Print Document
1. > restart Laptop Computer (wait for Laptop Computer to reboot)
2. > login User in Printing (ex:user1)
3. > press Ctrl + Alt + Delete > click Switch User > click Other User
4. > login Username: (ex: user1@css.local) and Password: (ex: P@ssword) > press Enter
5. > click Start > click Devices and Printers > check list of printers if any
6. > click Start > type cmd > type gpupdate<space>/force
(Note: If printer deployed by SERVER will appear to the Devices and Printer, the
configuration is correct.)
7. > click Start > type notepad > press Enter
8. > type the following: Your Name, Qualification, Assessment Center, Date and
Assessor’s Name
9. > click File > click Print > select Printer you deploy > click Print.
