Welcome to English 6 Alternative Delivery Mode (ADM) Module on

Presenting a Coherent, Comprehensive Report on Differing Viewpoints on
an Issue!
This module was collaboratively designed, developed and reviewed by
educators both from public and private institutions to assist you, the
teacher or facilitator in helping the learners meet the standards set by the K
to 12 Curriculum while overcoming their personal, social, and economic
constraints in schooling.

This learning resource hopes to engage the learners into guided and
independent learning activities at their own pace and time. Furthermore,
this also aims to help learners acquire the needed 21st century skills while
taking into consideration their needs and circumstances.

 This module will teach you how to compose and present your own
stance or viewpoint on an issue effectively. You will also learn the skills
needed on to how to present a coherent and comprehensive report on certain
issues and concerns. It will be easy for you to communicate your ideas,
opinions and information comprehensively to different audiences if you have
the essential knowledge, skills and the right attitude.
This module was designed to provide you with fun and meaningful
opportunities for guided and independent learning at your own pace and
time. You will be enabled to process the contents of the learning resource
while being an active learner.

What I Need to Know

This module will provide the learners with the activities and exercises
needed in learning how to compose and present a coherent, comprehensive
report on differing viewpoints on an issue.

Having the ability to present a coherent, comprehensive report on
differing viewpoints on an issue demonstrates a good and strong
communication skill. It is one of the 21st century skills that a learner needs
to develop. Likewise, it is equally important to consider the opinion of other
people regardless of whether they match your own viewpoint or not.

Mindanao State University in Marawi
City, Lanao del Sur.

topped the July 2017 Social Workers
Board Examination. She endured the
hardship while studying when war hit
Marawi City. She is truly an

What is It
Discussion of Activity 1
How do we compose a coherent and comprehensive report on differing
viewpoints on an issue?

A report is coherent when its parts are well-connected and all heading
in the same direction. It is comprehensive when there is a thorough
explanation of the viewpoint on an issue. The sentences and information
about the topic are arranged in a systematic way.

Important things to remember in composing a coherent,

comprehensive report on differing viewpoints on an issue
 Develop the topic sentence.
 The paragraph must be unified.
It must develop only one idea.
Supporting sentences should help develop the main idea.
They should be related to the topic.
 The paragraph must be coherent.

 The topic sentence and the supporting sentences must follow
a logical order.

Other important things to consider:

 Locate your own position on the issue.
 Make an opening to engage your audience.
 Use strong reasons to support your viewpoint.
 Give detailed reasons showing why your viewpoint is correct.
 Make a conclusion that is convincing and engaging.
 Respect the opinion of others.

A. As a result of our location on the Earth’s surface, water, energy,
agriculture, coastal ecosystems, human health and infrastructure/services
are affected. Philippines is extremely exposed to the impacts of climate change.
These impacts on climate change include rise in temperature and sea
level, extreme rainfall and increased occurrence of severe weather events.
In addition, our country is prone to natural hazards such as storms,
landslides, droughts and floods because of our geographic location.

The impact of prolonged TV viewing on young children

TV viewing affects the language development of young children. It has

a negative effect by delaying the language of a child. The opinion of most
experts is that children under two years of age should not watch television.
TV viewing causes obesity among children. It is most likely that longer
TV viewing time results to inactivity. An average teenager sees commercials
on fast food, junk food and sugary food. These two are the main reasons of
obesity among young children as experts claim.
TV viewing affects the child’s literacy. When someone watches
television, it lessens the time that a student spends in reading. Research
shows that there is a connection between reading and having a good test
score. It is possible that watching TV is one cause of poor test results
among learners.
TV viewing influences the behavior of the child. Research shows that
children who view violent actions are most likely to show aggressive

behavior. Other studies show that there is a link between watching too
much TV and bullying.

We learn from school the causes and effects of global warming. We also

they absorb gases like carbon dioxide and release oxygen for us. Due to
cutting of trees, carbon dioxide increases in the atmosphere. It seems the
elders forget the basic knowledge of how vital trees are. Young children like
