Q4. a) Imagine you are the writer of the article. You are asked the following question:
Interview question: Some people think you just dislike tourists and want to keep beauty spots for
yourself instead of sharing them with others.
What is your opinion and why?
I don't dislike tourists or want to keep these places to myself; I want to preserve them for everyone
to enjoy. My concern is that the beauty and serenity of places like Bandarban are at risk due to
unregulated mass tourism, which often brings litter, noise, and disregard for the local environment
and culture. I believe that with responsible tourism, where visitors respect the natural surroundings
and local way of life, everyone can continue to experience these beautiful spots without destroying
what makes them special. It's about sustainable enjoyment, not exclusion.
b) Imagine you are the travel blogger:
People think that travellers like you just take photographs and leave rubbish behind instead of really
appreciating beautiful places.
What is your opinion? Why?
I completely understand why people might feel that way, and I share their frustration with travelers
who treat beautiful places as just backdrops for photos without truly appreciating or respecting
them. To me, traveling is about connecting with a place – understanding its history, appreciating its
natural beauty, and respecting the people who live there. This means taking care not to leave a
negative impact, like litter or damage, that can spoil the experience for others and harm the
environment.
I believe that real appreciation goes beyond capturing a picture; it’s about preserving the beauty and
integrity of a place for others to experience. When travelers are conscious of their actions, they can
leave places as beautiful as they found them, ensuring that these natural wonders remain for future
generations.
c) Imagine you are the editor of the travel guide to Bangladesh:
People think that mass tourism is unsustainable without ruining the environment.
What is your opinion and why?
I agree that mass tourism, if left unchecked, can be unsustainable and damaging to the environment.
When large numbers of people visit delicate ecosystems without proper infrastructure or guidelines,
it leads to issues like pollution, deforestation, and the disruption of local communities and wildlife.
However, I believe that tourism doesn’t have to be destructive if managed responsibly. Sustainable
tourism can be achieved through practices like limiting visitor numbers, setting up waste
management systems, creating eco-friendly infrastructure, and educating tourists on respecting the
environment and culture. This way, people can still enjoy natural beauty without compromising the
integrity of these places.
Ultimately, it’s about finding a balance – allowing people to experience these beautiful destinations
while protecting them from the negative impacts of overcrowding and misuse
