Choosing the Right Mobile Device for
Your Operations
This document provides information you should consider when choosing a device. We understand that selecting the
right device is a crucial decision, and we aim to assist you in making an informed choice.

Before making a decision, it’s recommended that you research information online about the different products
available. This will help you better understand the options and ensure that the device you choose aligns with your
operational requirements.

Below are some key factors to ensure that it suits your requirements to help you make the right choice:

Keypad Preferences

— Consider whether you would prefer a physical keypad on the device or an on-screen keypad. Using a stylus
with an on-screen keypad can be more practical, especially when wearing gloves in a cool-room environment.

Trigger Handle Comfort

— For tasks involving intensive scanning, a trigger handle or wearable scanner can offer increased comfort
and precision.

— Some devices allow you to remove the handle, making it easier to store in a pocket or when not in use.

Wearable Devices

— Some devices can be worn on your arm alongside a Bluetooth scanner worn on the back of your hand
or finger depending on your preference.

— Pros: they enable you to use both hands to move packages if needed.

— Cons: arm-worn devices can sometimes cause discomfort due to their weight on the wrist or the
need to twist the arm to read the screen.

Screen Size and Resolution

— Larger screens are often easier to read, providing a better user experience.

— Some devices offer higher screen resolutions providing greater clarity.

Operating Environment

— Some devices can reliably function in harsh conditions such as cool rooms and freezers.

— If a device isn’t ruggedized, you can purchase a protective boot for extra protection, which can also
be used for connecting a trigger handle to the device.

— If you’ll be working outdoors, devices with brighter screens ensure visibility in varying lighting conditions.

Scanning Capabilities

— Different devices have varying scanning capabilities, affected by factors like barcode quality, types, lighting
conditions, and scanning distance. Refer to the manufacturer’s website or consult internet reviews.

Camera Usage

— Do you need a camera on the device? For example, in a transit warehouse, a camera is helpful for taking
pictures of freight. The Product Warehouse module does not currently support the ability to take pictures.

Compatibility
Please note that only the devices listed in this guide work with CargoWise. These devices have been thoroughly
tested and integrated for optimal performance.

If you have a device that is not listed but still wish to assess its compatibility, we offer an assessment service for
a fee. Our experts will evaluate the device’s compatibility and if approved make to accommodate the new device.

Our goal is to assist you in choosing a device that matches your operational needs. Please create an incident
for more information or to initiate a compatibility assessment for non-listed devices.

IM PORTANT:

All devices must have a 2D scanner to connect them to CargoWise.

This docum ent only lis ts the m os t current Zebra devices. Older models such as the TC72 and TC77 devices
are not listed but still supported.

Devices must be running Android 8, 10 or 11 operating systems. Support for Android 8 and 10 will be discontinued in
