PREPOSITIONS OF PLACE.
We use prepositions of place to say where somebody or something is. These
include: on, in, at, under, in front of, behind, beside, next to, near, between and among. • We use at: in the expressions: at school/university/college, at work, at home, at the top. At the bottom of. With addresses when we mention the house numbers: at 20, Oxford Street, but on Oxford Street. • We use in: In the expressions: in the middle. In the air, in the sky, in hospital, in prison, in a newspaper/magazine, in a picture. With names of cities, countries and continents: in Athens, in England, in Europe, in Australia. • We use on: In the expressions: on the left, on the right. On the first/ second floor. We say: on a chair but not in a chair. With Avenues, Roads, Streets: On the fifth Avenue, on Bell Road, on Dalias Street
