1. COLLEGE AT A GLANCE
The foundation stone of the College was laid on 1 February 1958 at the hands of Shri
Yashwantraoji Chavhan, then Chief Minister of Mumbai State. The college was blessed by Pandit
Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India who inaugurated the Science Faculty on 18
April 1959. It is a privilege that the foundation stone of the building was laid at the hands of both
these stalwarts. Today the college has acquired a prestigious position not only in Vidarbha region,
but in entire Maharashtra. The Golden Jubilee of the college was celebrated with the auspicious
blessings of His Excellency Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Honorable President of India. His Excellency
Shri Bhairosingji Shekhawat, Honorable Vice-President of India and Her Excellency Smt. Pratibha
Patil, Honorable President of India, also visited the college.
Over a period of time, the college has expanded the areas of study with conscious
attempts for the employability of the courses. Several students of the college have acquired
prominence in different fields. The management of the College is making every possible effort to
face new challenges of the ever-expanding world of Knowledge & enable the students to live a life
with material advancement and spiritual enrichment.

आली आहे . िव ा सारक मंडळाची नोंदणी धमदाय कायदा 1860 ा अिधिनयम मां क XXI (REGD.NO.F-
27/YTL/122-55-56) अंतगत कर ात आली आहे . सं ेची उि े खालील माणे आहे त.

वरील उि े पूण कर ासाठी सं ेने सन १९५६ म े महािव ालयाची ापना केली व शै िणक स 1956-57
म े केवळ 40 िव ा ासह महािव ालय शहरातील मोर भवन म े सु कर ात आले. शै िणक स 1982-83 पयत
महािव ालय नागपूर िव ापीठ, नागपूरशी संलि त होते व स 1983-84 पासून संत गाडगे बाबा अमरावती िव ापीठ,
अमरावतीशी संलि त आहे. स तीत महािव ालयाचा प रसर ३९ एकर े ात िव ारले असून, श इमारत, सुस
योगशाळा, ७०००० पे ा जा ंथसंपदा असलेले समृ ंथालय, भ सभागृ ह, िजमखाना व िविवध खेळाचे मैदान इ.
सुिवधा उपल आहे त. महािव ालयात रा ीय छा सेना व रा ीय सेवा योजना तसे च इतर अ ास व अ ासेतर उप म
राबिवले जातात.

भैरोिसं गजी शेखावत, मा. उपरा पती यांची भेट महािव ालयसाठी भुषणावह आहे . महािव ालयाला िवदभातच न े, तर
संपूण महारा ात मानाचे ान आहे .

Arts, Commerce and Humanities.

TEACHING METHODOLOGY:
1. Along with traditional Lecture with chalk-board & demonstration method, latest technologies
are implemented for delivering lectures. LCD Projectors, OHP’s and educational applications
are utilized as and when required.
2. Students are inspired to present topics pertaining to upcoming technologies and syllabus as a
part of co-curricular programs.
3. Faculty members encourage students to undertake micro projects on relevant topics in specific
areas.

MAIN BUILDING:
The main building of the College consisting of class rooms, laboratories, library and
administrative block. Ground floor of the college and the auditorium was constructed during 1958-
62. The foundation stone of the main building was laid down by Shri Yashwantrao Chavhan, Chief
Minister of Bombay State, on 1 February 1958. The College was blessed by Pandit Jawaharlal
Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India who inaugurated Science Faculty of the College on 18
April 1958. The ground floor of 3375 Square meters and Auditoriums of 1203.84 Square meters
was constructed in single stroke using stones. The first floor of the College comprises of
Classrooms, Library and reading room of 3325 square meter. The first floor was constructed with
the grants received from UGC during 8th and 9th plan period. The College is also having women’s
hostel building of 200 square meters, six staff quarters of 1000 square meters. The College is having
workshop and classrooms spread over 880 square meters’ area in annexed building of MCVC. The
MCVC building was inaugurated on 20 July 1995 by Honorable Shri Madhaorao Scindia, then
HRD Minister, Government of India. The classrooms in this building are used to conduct the PG
classes.
COLLEGE LIBRARY:
The College Library is spread over 369.2 square meter area having large number of
reference resources, books, journals and periodicals. The main library of the College is having
reading room facility. The Status of library by the end of academic session 2021-22 is as stated
below:
Besides main library, every Department in the College is having Departmental Library which
is maintained by the Head of respective Department.
The College is the user of NLIST programme, of INFLIBNET, which is funded by UGC, as
a College component under UGC-INFONET Digital Library Consortium. It provides access
to more than 6000+ e-Journals with files for 10 years and more than 100000 e-books. The
Staff and the Students of the College are availing this facility in the College Library and at
Computer Centre in the Department of Computer Science and Department of Commerce. The
resources are accessible from http://nlist.inflibnet.ac.in as soon as a user from the College,
login.

AUDITORIUM:
The College has one Auditorium spread over 1203.84 square meter area and having seating
capacity of 600 persons. It was constructed in 1962 by Vidya Prasarak Mandal. Besides the
auditorium, building has three small and three large class rooms and open space along with room
for the canteen, and Department of Music and Physical Education (Sports). On the first floor the
space is provided for NCC office and store room (Record room). The auditorium is known in the
name of Shri Vasantraoji Naik, Chief Minister of Maharashtra, at that time. The auditorium has
been a venue for several cultural, literary and educational events, like:
The Silver and Golden Jubilees of the institute were celebrated in the auditorium.
The innumerable public debates, cultural activities, NSS and NCC camps at state levels, etc.
had been organised in the auditorium. Many debates and discussions in this auditorium have
contributed to the intellectual creativity of the College.
The important personalities who have addressed the gatherings from the dais of the
auditorium includes, His Excellency Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Her Excellency Ms. Pratibhatai
Patil, His Excellency Shri Bhairosingji Shekhawat, Shri Kapil Sibbal, Shri Madhavraoji
Sindhiya, Shri Manindersing Bitta, Shri Virappa Moiley, Justice Shri Markandey Kataju, Shri
Ram Jethamalani, Justice Shri V.S. Shirpurkar, Advocate Shri Ujwal Nikam, Pandit Vikas
Kashalkar and many more.

The College has two large play grounds, which meet the requirements of all outdoor games,
like, Cricket, Hockey, football, Volley Ball, Soft Boll, basket ball, Kabbaddi, Kho-Kho, Running
track, Shotput circle and Javelin throw, long jump pit etc. One play ground is reserved for Girl
students only. The facilities for indoor games such as, Table tennis, Lawn tennis, Badminton,
Chess, Carom etc. are available in Auditorium building of the College. The College participates
approximately in 12 sports events annually at various levels. The College is having Sports and
Gymkhana Committee which looks into all issues of sports and gymkhana. Participation and
achievement of Students at National and International level competitions has become regular
feature of the institute
CULTURAL ACTIVITIES:
The college encourages the students to participate in various cultural activities and caters to
the needs of students participating in various cultural events at inter collegiate, district inter-
university level like; Yuva Mahotsav, Freshers party, Farewell function, Alumni meet. In these
events students participate in poet convention, dancing, singing, drama, one act play, mime,
traditional dress competition, quiz contest, debate etc. More than 50 students of college participate
in Yuva Mahotsav every year. The Cultural Committee of the college looks into all issues of
cultural activities.
THE HOSTEL:
The College is unique in the district which provides Higher Education in Arts, Commerce,
Science and Law. Therefore, large numbers of students are coming from rural area to take education
at the College. Considering the need of the students the governing body of the College has decided
to start its hostel. The College has provided hostel accommodations for Boys and Girls with all
necessary facilities till 1986. Later on, situations change and students were not found interested in
taking admissions to the Hostels. The College management when take the review of this scenario
it was found that:
Large numbers of colleges are open in small towns of the districts and the students have
facility to get Education at their doorstep.
Large numbers of Boys and Girls hostels are available in the town which is established by
the Social Welfare Department, Government of Maharashtra. All the necessary facilities are
made available to the students by these hostels.
Besides Government Hostels, there are few private hostels available for the students in the
town.
Considering these facts, the College has decided to stop its hostel facility for Boys and
Girls. The management of the College has also decided that, they will restart the hostel facility as
and when the students demand for the hostel in the College premises. Most of the College students
are admitted either in Government or Private Hostels in the town. However, if the demand comes
from needy students, the College management is ready to start the Hostel on no loss-no profit basis.
The students who desire the accommodation in the Hostel are advised to contact the
College Principal within fifteen days from the date of the admission.

RESEARCH (Ph. D) CENTRE:
Physics, Electronics, Chemistry, Zoology and Computer Science laboratories of the College
are recognized as research laboratories by Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University. Twelve students
have successfully completed their research work at the College in last five years. Apart from these
five subjects, the affiliating University has recognized College as the research centre for
Economics, Marathi and Commerce subjects. The students having PG degree in the above subjects
and having cleared Ph.D. Aptitude Test should contact the concern guide/supervisor for registration
and admission.

4. DISCIPLINE
GENERAL
Students shall always carry Identity Cards with them and shall produce it as and when
teachers and other staff members of the college demand.
Any tampering or disfiguring made on the Identity Card will be viewed seriously.
Students shall obey the rules framed by the Principal for the smooth functioning of the
Institution.
Students shall not bring outsiders to the college.
Students shall leave the campus as soon as the classes are over for the day.
Duplicate Identity Card will be issued only after payments of Rs. 100/- at the fee receipt
counter.
Students are requested to remit all fees before the last date given, failing which they will be
removed from the college rolls on the next working day itself without further notice.
Students taking part or organizing in any political activity or cause gatherings inside the
college campus for the purpose of any activities shall constitute serious indiscipline. Every
member of such a gathering shall be individually liable and responsible for the gross
indiscipline in this regard and the Principal shall have the power to take disciplinary action
against students who indulge in the aforesaid activities.

Students shall not get involved in any political activity or shall not abet the said activity to be
carried on by fellow students inside the campus in any manner whatsoever. The political
activities are banned inside the campus.
It shall constitute gross indiscipline to call for an appeal to strike based on policies and
ideologies that may be preached by the political parties or their student organizations or
student wings. The participants in the strike as aforesaid shall be dealt with by the disciplinary
authority and they shall be imposed appropriate punishment as provided in the rules.
No student of the college shall stage or indulge in any activity like Dharna, Gharao, and
obstructing entry to and from any class room, office or other places inside the campus and
such activities shall be treated as misconduct.
No student shall shout slogans inside the class rooms, office or any other place inside the
campus and obstruct, interfere or cause disturbance and nuisance to the ordinary functioning
of the institution. These activities shall be treated as misconduct.
PROHIBITION OF RAGGING
Ragging is prohibited in and outside the College campus as per the Ragging Prohibition
Act 1998. According to the act, by ragging it is meant any physical or mental torture or any
disorderly conduct towards any student of the College, causing apprehension, dread, humiliation
or agitation in him/her. It can be any harassment like insulting, teasing or manhandling. It can also
be forcing upon him/her to do something which he/she voluntarily won’t dare to do normally.

5. ADMISSION AND WITHDRAWAL
1. Students are admitted in the beginning of the academic year to the Under Garduate and Post
Graduate courses.
2. Application for admission must be made in the prescribed form which can be downloaded from
the College website: www.amolakchandmahavidyalaya.ac.in
3. Applicant for admission to the 1st year degree class must have passed the 10+2 Examination
of the Board or any other examination which is recognized equivalent there to. Those for
admission to Post Graduate course must have passed Under Garduate Degree examinations in
the concerned subject with the required minimum percentage of marks from the affiliating
University or any other recognized University as a regular student. The students, graduated
from University other than affiliating University will be admitted as per the admission
criterion and availability of seats.
4. Candidates seeking admission must produce Transfer and Character certificates from the
School or College they last attended and qualifying certificates and mark list, all in original
at the time of admission.
5. Candidates seeking admission to the college from other universities should apply for
recognition enrolment from the Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University.
6. The admission is provisional and is subject to confirmation after the scrutiny of the certificates
and enrolment by the University.
7. Candidates selected for admission will have to pay the required tuition fees due, caution
deposit and all other fees prescribed by the College at the time of admission. Fees once paid
will not be refunded in any case.
8. Any candidate found to have obtained admission by false representation shall be
summarily dismissed and shall forfeit whatever fees he/she may have paid.
9. Students belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and any Other Backward Caste and
Tribes as evidenced by their Caste Certificate need not pay any tuition fees. Students
belonging to Other Backward Classes and converts from other region should produce the
community and income certificate from the regional Tahasildar at the time of admission,
failing which they will not be exempted from the payment of tuition fees.
10. Transfer Certificate will not be issued unless the Student pays fees and other dues as the
Principal may deem fit. Usually transfer certificates are not issued to the students before the
completion of their courses of study.
11. Late fees of Rs. 25 per year will be payable if a student applies for T.C one year after the end
of the academic session during which he/she has been last enrolled. Fees of Rs 100/- Will be
payable for the issue of a duplicate transfer certificate.
12. Students are not eligible to get an original T.C. for a second time. However, duplicate T.C.
will be issued on producing an affidavit signed by a First-Class Judicial Magistrate.
13. A student applying for the issue of any document from the college must have cleared all
remaining dues to the college.
14. A fee of Rs.100/- will be payable for a document that needs office record older than five years .

8. PHYSICAL EDUCATION COUNCIL
The college Physical Education Council is constituted with the Principal as the President.
A nominated member of the staff will be the Vice President and the Head of the Department of
Physical Education will be the secretary. The President, Vice President, Secretary and Captains of
various sports clubs shall be the members of the Executive committee of the council. There shall
be separate clubs for the following:
1. Volleyball 2. Cricket 3. Badminton 4. Track and Field events. 5. Kabaddi 6. Kho-Kho
7. Hockey 8. Soft ball 9. Basket ball 10. Tenis 11. Badminon
The captain of each club will be elected by its own members. The Head of the Department
of Physical Education will conduct the election. The students of the college are strictly forbidden
to enroll in any team outside the college without the written permission of the Principal. Students
of the college will be required to play games regularly and receive regular physical training.

11. THE COLLEGE MAGAZINE
The college magazine, ‘SHABDARK’ is published once a year in the last week of April. It
is issued to all students and members of the staff. The students are expected to make the most of
this opportunity. The contribution in the form of articles, poems, essay etc should be deposited with
Dr. A.S. Fulzele, inchage, college magazine committee before 15 December 2023. The magzine
will be published if good quality of publishing material is received by the office before the
stipulated date.
15. SCHOLARSHIPS
Various scholarships and financial assistances are made available to deserving students. Some
among them are National Merit Scholarship, National loan Scholarship, etc. Fee concession is
available to student whose yearly income is less than Rs.100000/- and financial assistance is
available to students from Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe categories. The students are
informed to submit online scholarship forms for various scholarships and submit hardcopies of the
forms in the College office within two weeks after successful submission of online application,
failing which they themselves will be responsible for the effect

17. CAREER GUIDANCE CELL
The Career Guidance Cell functioning in the college provides opportunities for each student
for an all-round development of his/her personality. The students graduating from the College
receive the best education for furthering their career leading to excellent placements through the
Cell. The main objective of the cell is to prepare students to take up challenging careers. It also
aims at developing a holistic personality in students enabling them to succeed while at the same
time finding fulfillment in their personal lives. The ultimate aim is to prepare students to be
responsible and responsive to the demands of the society.

Alumni Association of the College is formed with following objectives:
1) To promote socio-cultural activities.
2) To establish dialogue between the College & alumni’s to discuss matters of common interest.
3) To establish liaison between the college students and past students by arranging get-together

4) To seek sponsorships for organizing useful activities for overall development of college

6) It is practice to contact and invite past students on various occasions like Inter University
Tournaments, Silver and Golden Jubilee celebrations, workshops, conferences and other

CODE OF CONDUCT FOR STUDENTS:
Students must respect the educational institute and follow all its rules and regulations.
Students shall always carry Identity Cards and shall produce them as and when teachers and
other staff members of the college demand.
Students shall not be allowed to enter the college campus without a college uniform.
Classroom disruptions, including the use of electronic devices, should be minimized as they
interfere with the learning process.
Students should maintain a clean, safe and healthy environment and report any safety concerns
immediately.
Laboratory and equipment protocols should be followed to ensure safety at all times.
Students must maintain academic honesty by not plagiarizing work and submitting original
assignments.
The use of alcohol, drugs, or any other controlled substances on campus is strictly prohibited.
Any tampering or disfiguring made on the Identity Card will be viewed seriously.
Students shall not bring outsiders to the college.
Students must attend classes regularly and be punctual.
Students must refrain from any form of cheating during examinations.
Students shall leave the campus as soon as the classes are over for the day.
Duplicate Identity Card will be issued only after payments of Rs. 100/- at the fee receipt
counter.
Attendance and punctuality are essential for a successful academic career. Tardiness and
excessive absences will not be tolerated.
Students should remit all fees before the last date given, failing which they will be removed
from the college rolls on the next working day itself without further notice.
Students shall not get involved in any political activity or shall not abet the said activity to be
carried on by fellow students inside the campus in any manner whatsoever. Political activities
are banned inside the campus.
Students taking part in or organizing any political activity or gatherings inside the college
campus constitutes serious indiscipline. Students who participated in such a gathering shall be
liable and responsible for the gross indiscipline in this regard and the principal have the power
to take disciplinary action against students who indulge in the aforesaid activities.
It shall create gross indiscipline to call for an appeal to strike based on policies and ideologies
that may be preached by the political parties or their student organizations or student wings.
The participants in the strike as aforesaid shall be dealt with by the disciplinary authority and
they shall be imposed appropriate punishment as provided in the rules.
No student of the college shall stage or indulge in any activity like Dharna, or Gherao and
obstruct entry (to and from) in classrooms, offices or other places inside the campus and such
activities shall be treated as misconduct.
No student shall shout slogans inside the classrooms, office or any other place inside the
campus and obstruct, interfere or cause disturbance and nuisance to the normal functioning of
the institution. These activities shall be treated as misconduct.
If necessary, disciplinary action will be taken after conducting proper enquiry by Committee
duly appointed by the principal against those students who have committed misconduct as
referred to in the rules above.
Students shall not disfigure the classroom, wall or other building inside the college campus by
pasting posters or writing on the walls in connection with any activity. They shall not damage
or destroy any furniture, equipment or other materials inside the campus. In the event of any

student indulging in any such activities, a fine shall be imposed on him/her to be fixed by the
principal of the college after evaluating the extent and magnitude of the damage so caused.
Ragging is prohibited in and outside the College campus as per the Ragging Prohibition Act
1998. According to the act, ragging it is meant any physical or mental torture or any disorderly
conduct towards any student of the College, causing apprehension, dread, humiliation or
agitation in him/her. It can be any harassment like insulting, teasing or manhandling. It can
also be forced upon him/her to do something which he/she voluntarily won’t dare to do
normally.
