INTRODUCTION TO ICT 1

ACTIVITY 1: IS IT A TOOL, MATERIAL OR EQUIPMENT?

Objective: Identify tools, materials and equipment in Technical Drafting

NAME: T-Square NAME: Leroy Lettering Set NAME: Triangular Scale or

Architect's Scale
CLASSIFICITION: CLASSIFICITION: CLASSIFICITION:
Drafting Tool Lettering Tool Measuring Tool
Instruction: Name and classify the following figures below.

NAME: French Curve NAME: Masking Tape

CLASSIFICITION: Drawing Tool CLASSIFICITION:
Auxiliary Drafting Tool
ACTIVITY 1A: Practice Freehand Upper-Case Lettering

Objective: Recognize the technical know-how in good lettering

Instruction: In a short bond paper, draw horizontal guidelines with the use of proper
tools and practice writing the following in freehand: (5 pts.) Note: Use pencil only.
ACTIVITY 2: ILLUSTRATION OF A HUMAN BODY

Objective: Layout figures and objects according to illustration requirement

Instruction: Let’s practice drawing human body proportion with the sample image
below:

QUESTION:
1. What refers to safety drawing procedures considering the relationship of size and
different elements of the drawing.
2. How many drawing proportion parts in drawing a human figure?
ACTIVITY 3: QUESTION AND ANSWER!!
Objective: Explain what USE OF PRODUCT AND EQUIPMENT,
Instructions: Answer set of questions below and present it to the class. Use a separate
sheet of paper.
1. What device is best for animation?
The right devices for animation depend on the project types and complexities, however
they are commonly used devices such as:
 High End Computers: These have powerful CPUs (Intel Core i7/i9, or AMD
Ryzen for the lovelies), high RAM (16GB or more) and good GPUs (NVIDIA
GeForce or AMD Radeon).
 Graphics tablets: Like Wacom, Huion or XP-Pen for precise drawing and
design.

 All-in-one tablets — iPads with Apple Pencil or Microsoft Surface Pro for mobile
and tap-based animation workflows
 Animation-specific equipment: Wacom's Cintiq displays have advanced
drawing features available directly on the screen.

2. What do animators use to draw?

Animators typically use:
 Graphics Tablets: Wacom, Huion, and XP-Pen are popular for creating hand-
drawn animation.
 Drawing Tablets with Screens: Wacom Cintiq or iPads with Apple Pencil
provide on-screen drawing capabilities.
 Digital Pens: Used with tablets for precise input.
 Animation Software: Tools like Adobe Animate, Toon Boom Harmony, Blender,
or Procreate are used alongside drawing tools.

3. Explain how you identify tools and equipment ?

 Purpose: Match them across the animation tasks (storyboarding, 2d/3d
animation, and compositing).
 Features: Functionality, — pressure sensitivity for drawing tablets, or rendering
power for computers.
 Ease of Use: Understand that the animator experience matters in terms of how
simple the tool will be to use.
 Compatibility: Verify that the tools are compatible with the animation software
you are using
 Referring Industry Insights: Suggestions or critiques from industry
professionals.

4. What are the tools and equipment used in animation?

Hardware:
 Graphics tablets (e.g., Wacom, Huion)
 Computers with high-end graphics and processing power
 iPads or Surface tablets
 Scanners for traditional animation
 Cameras for stop-motion animation
Software:
 2D Animation: Adobe Animate, Toon Boom Harmony, TVPaint
 3D Animation: Blender, Maya, Cinema 4D
 Motion Graphics: Adobe After Effects
 Stop-Motion: Dragonframe
Accessories:
 Stylus pens, lightboxes (for hand-drawn animations), and green screens for
visual effects.

5. What were your preparations before you start using these tools?
Plan the Animation:
 Visualize your ideas in storyboards and scripts.
 This is where you create keyframes and sequences.
Set Up Workspace:
 Set up a home workstation that is cozy and ergonomic.
 It means install some software and hardware drivers needed to build your project
in the system.

Get to Know the Tools:

 Watch tutorials and practice to learn the essentials of a software or equipment.
 Check pressure sensitivity and functionality of graphics tablets
Organize Resources:
 Collect reference images, sounds, and assets needed for doing the animation.
 This all calls for a digital filing .
Check Device Specifications:
 Verify that hardware meets software requirements.
 Update drivers and calibrate devices (e.g., tablets or screens).
