II. Requirements :

Design a Local Area Network (LAN) using Cisco Packet Tracer for an organization
with five departments: Marketing, Information System, Academics, Purchasing, and
Human Resource. Each department has a varying number of computers, with Marketing
having 4, Information System having 5, Academics having 10, Purchasing having 3, and
Human Resource having 3 computers. The objective is to create an efficient and secure
network infrastructure to facilitate communication and data sharing within the
organization.

2.1 Network Design Requirements

A) Hardware Requirements:

● Switches: At least 5 switches, one for each department.

● Router: set-up an internet or ftp server for inter-departmental communication.

● Computers: Total of 25 computers (4 for Marketing, 5 for Information System,

10 for Academics, 3 for Purchasing, and 3 for Human Resource).
● Ethernet Cables: Sufficient cables to connect all computers to their
respective switches.

B) Network Configuration:

● IP Addressing Scheme: Design a Class-C IP addressing scheme for each

department, ensuring they are on different subnets to prevent overlap. Apply
the principle of subnetting.
● VLANs : Configure VLANs to logically separate each department for security
and efficiency.
● Routing: Set up routing between departments to enable inter-departmental
communication. Create an FTP server for this.
● Network Topology: Use star topology.
