(Descriptive Title)

Program Educational : Teacher Education Graduates under the Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) Program of CTU are expected to demonstrate a wide variety of

Objectives (PEOs) a. Highly Skilled Classroom Facilitator. A mathematics teacher who manifests the desire to continuously pursue personal and professional;
development, specializing in the content and pedagogy for secondary mathematics education in the context of inclusive education, Education
for Sustainable Development and the 5th Industrial Revolution (CMO 75, s. 2017 Program Goals, PO 6.3.3.f, CTU Vision).
b. Ethically - imbued Educational Leader. A mathematics teacher - leader who exhibits the CTU core values and demonstrates an in-depth
understanding of diverse learners in the realm of globalization in the 21st century education (CMO 75, s. 2017 Program Goals, PO 6.3.3.f,
Core Values).
c. Service-Oriented Professional. A committed professional who demonstrates willingness to share resources to the academic community
along the innovative use of technology to accelerate learning and teaching in a reflective manner in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural

d. PLC Advocate. A mathematics Teacher - communicator who manifests skills in communication for partnership and linkages in the local,
national and international arena, demonstrating positive attributes of a model teacher, both as an individual and as a professional (CMO 75, s.

e. Proficient critical thinkers and problem solvers. A mathematics teacher displays competence in solving real - life problems and applies the

Program Outcomes : The minimum standards for BSEd degree program are expressed in the following set of learning outcomes:
6.1. Common to All Types of Schools
a. Articulate and discuss the latest developments in the specific field of practice. (PQF level 6 descriptor)
b. Effectively communicate in English and Filipino, both orally and in writing
c. Work effectively and collaboratively with a substantial degree of independence in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams. (PQF level 6
descriptor)
d. Act in recognition of professional, social, and ethical responsibility
e. Preserve and promote “Filipino historical and cultural heritage” (based on RA 7722)
6.2. Common to the Teacher Education Discipline
a. Articulate the rootedness of education in philosophical, socio-cultural, historical, psychological, and political contexts

Course Description : The course deals with interactions between science and technology and social, cultural, political, and economic contexts that shape and are shaped by
them.
This interdisciplinary course engages students to confront the realities brought about by science and technology in society. Such realities pervade the
personal, the public, and the global aspects of our living and are integral to human development. Scientific knowledge and technological
development happen in the context of society with all its socio-political, cultural, economic, and philosophical underpinnings at play. This course
seeks to instill reflective knowledge in the students that they are able to live the good life and display ethical decision making in the face of scientific

This course includes mandatory topics on climate change and environmental awareness.
Course Learning : At the end of the semester, the students are expected to acquire the following competencies:
Outcomes 1. analyze the developmental history of science and technology, identifying key milestones and their impacts on society, culture, and the
environment throughout different historical periods;
2. articulate the effects of science and technology on Philippine society and analyze their contributions to nation-building and environmental
preservation;
3. examine their experiences and beliefs about the human condition, expressing meaningful reflections on how these relate to societal values
and the concept of the good life;
4. evaluate the implications of key social issues such as the information age, gene therapy, genetically modified organisms, nanotechnology,
and biodiversity on Philippine society, examining their potential benefits and ethical challenges; and
5. assess the causes and effects of climate change and propose sustainable actions that can mitigate its impact on the environment and society.
