Society, knack of creating misary for himself is a
In this essay Bill Bryson describes his bitter experience during his
travels. He cannot do a simple thing without creating a mess. He often
forgets the way to lavatory and his hotel room number. Once he arrived at
Boston airport with his family. When they were checking in, he suddenly
remembered that he had put the card in the carry on bag. He tried to
open the zip frantically since it was jammed. His fingers got hurt by the
zip. He was bleeding profusely. All of the belongings in his bag were
scattered across the floor of the waiting hall of the airport. Once on an
aeroplane he leaned down to tie his shoelaces. In the mean time the
person on the front seat pushed back his seat. As a result he got stuck in
the kneel down position. He could get himself free only by clawing the leg
of the man sitting next to him. Once during his travel, while he was
pondering over his writing he sucked his pen thoughtfully. He did not
notice the pen leaking as he was much engrossed in his conversation with
the pretty lady. His mouth, chin, tongue and teeth had become navy blue
in colour and remained so for many days. He loved to rise from a dinner
table without making a mess, get in a car and close the door without
leaving 14 inches of coat outside.

inside the surgery. The waiting patients thought that the dentist would
use the hammer on Joe. Then she carried a pair of pliers and a hacksaw.
The waiting patients were afraid of the dentist and left the clinic one by
one. Then it was clear that they had a mistaken understanding of the
situation. The dentist lost his key to his tool cabinet so he had used all the
instruments to open the cabinet. But he could not succeed. After fruitless
search, he found it under the telephone directory. All the patients except
one left the clinic so the dentist lost his one day business.

Poem Confessions of a Born Spectator
Poet Ogden Nash
In the poem ‘Confessions of a Born Spectator,’ Ogden Nash talks about
how people choose different sports in their lives or decide to become
athletes. While admiring the talents of the athletes and sportsmen, the
poet confesses that he is glad that he is neither a sportsman nor an
athlete. Children have different aims and wish to play various games.
Each child has in mind something in particular, but the narrator is glad he
is not one of the players. Though the narrator admires the talents of all
athletes, he derives satisfaction from watching them, but does not wish to
exchange places with them. He also sometimes regrets that zealous
athletes play rough games without caring for the feelings of their sporting
rivals. He feels that good sense and caution win over ego. The narrator
wholeheartedly offers thanksgiving the modest physiques of athletes.
Ultimately the narrator is satisfied that he himself is not an athlete.

The story of the unfinished masterpiece spread afar, and many men
fancying themselves of wicked countenance, offered to pose as models
for the face of Judas but in vain. The old painter looked for a face that
would serve to show Judas as he had envisioned him; a man warped by
life, enfeebled by surrender to greed and lust. Then one afternoon, as he
sat in the tavern over his daily glass of wine, a gaunt and tattered figure
staggered across the threshold and fell upon the floor. “Wine, wine”
, he begged. The painter lifted him up, and looked into a face that startled
him. It seemed to bear the marks of every sin of mankind. Greatly excited,
the old painter helped the proliferate to his feet. ‘Come with me’ he said,
‘and I will give you wine, food and clothing’. Here atlast was the model for
Judas. For many days and part of many nights, the painter worked
feverishly to complete his master piece.
