2. Creation and Operating of a Company
The initial working area of Tally consist a menu called “Company Info” which consists the following
options,
a. Select Company
b. Login as Remote User
c. Create Company
d. Backup
e. Restore

Lesson 1: Company Creation
• Directory :
Here we have to specify any required path in to which we
want save our company data. E.g.,: E:\Tally.ERP9\Data
• Name : Enter the name of our company.
• Mailing Name :
Enter the name of our company which is to be accessed in
to the print outs of our company.
• Address : Specify the address of our company.

• Books beginning From :
By default Tally.ERP9 displays the date given in “ Financial year
from” field.
Tally.ERP9 will open books from the date given here and close as
on the last day of the Financial Year.
For example if enter 12th July, 2009 as the Books beginning date
then the company’s books will begin on July 12th, 2009 and close
on March 31st, 2010, which ensures smooth transition to the next
year.

After filling all Fields the Company Creation Screen will be displayed as shown,
Note:
1. With out specifying the “ Directory” also we can create a company in Tally.ERP9. and
such companies those are created with out specifying any Directory will be stored in the
“ Drive” in which Tally was installed in our system.
i.e. If Tally was installed in “ E:\Tally.ERP9” , then the company which is created
with out any path will be saved in “ E:\”
2. With out specifying the “ Financial Year From” and “Books beginning Date” we can
not create a company in Tally.ERP9.

After Selecting of a company Tally will display a screen called “ GATEWAY OF TALLY”
which consists the following parts,
