Company Info - Menu

The initial working area of Tally consist a menu called “Company Info” which consists the following
options,

a. Select Company
b. Login as Remote User
c. Create Company
d. Backup
e. Restore

Lesson 1: Company Creation

• Directory :
Here we have to specify any required path in to which we
want save our company data. E.g.,: E:\Tally.ERP9\Data
• Name : Enter the name of our company.
• Mailing Name :
Enter the name of our company which is to be accessed in
to the print outs of our company.
• Address : Specify the address of our company.

• Statutory Compliance For :

Select any required country from the List of Countries, according


to which we want to access the taxations in our company.

• State : Select the required state from the “List of States”.


• PIN Code : Enter the PIN Code of the city.
• Telephone No : Enter the phone number(s) of our company.
• Mobile No : Enter the mobile number(s) of our company.
• E-mail : Enter the e-mail id(s) of our company.
• Currency Symbol :
Based on the country selected the currency symbol will be
defaulted by Tally.ERP9

• Maintain :

Based on the Type of Organisation and its requirement select the


required option from the “List of Company Type”
• Financial Year From :
Specify any required date from which we want to start the
financial year regularly. Tally.ERP9 automatically considers 12
months from the date given here as the Financial Year.

For example, if we enter April 1, 2009 as the date, the financial


year will be from April to March ending with March 31, 2010.

If we enter October 1, 2009 as the “Financial Year From” then


the financial year will be from October 2009 to September 2010
and ending with 30th September ever year.

• Books beginning From :
By default Tally.ERP9 displays the date given in “ Financial year
from” field.

The Date for “ Books beginning from” can be changed in case of


companies which are incorporated in the middle of the year. If
our company is new, we can opt to start the books of accounts
from the date of actual establishment of the company.

Tally.ERP9 will open books from the date given here and close as
on the last day of the Financial Year.

For example if enter 12th July, 2009 as the Books beginning date
then the company’s books will begin on July 12th, 2009 and close
on March 31st, 2010, which ensures smooth transition to the next
year.

• Tally Vault Password :


Specify a password here if we want to encrypt the company data.
Encryption involves converting normally accessible Tally
information into unrecognizable information, which can only be
reconverted by authorized persons only.

• Use Security Control :


Set this to Yes, if we want to restrict the facilities of Tally up to
the designation level of different users.
About this option we can discuss later in detailed.

• Base Currency Information :


The Base Currency information is found in the bottom frame of
the company creation screen. Base currency is the currency in
which our company accounts would be maintained. Financial
statements are prepared in the base currency by default and these
are normally required to be submitted to local statutory
authorities. The Base Currency Information in Tally.ERP9 varies
with the Country selected for Statutory Compliance.

After filling all Fields the Company Creation Screen will be displayed as shown,

Press Enter to save the company.

Note:
1. With out specifying the “ Directory” also we can create a company in Tally.ERP9. and
such companies those are created with out specifying any Directory will be stored in the
“ Drive” in which Tally was installed in our system.
i.e. If Tally was installed in “ E:\Tally.ERP9” , then the company which is created
with out any path will be saved in “ E:\”

2. With out specifying the “ Financial Year From” and “Books beginning Date” we can
not create a company in Tally.ERP9.

Select Company:

Press Enter on Select Company option available in “ Company Info” menu.

• Directory : Specify the path in which our company is located


• Name :
Here Tally.ERP9 shows a “List of Companies” those are located in the given
Directory. The “ List of Companies” shows,
1. Company Name
2. System generated Code for each company
3. The Financial Year information relating to the number of years data
present in the company.

Gateway of Tally

After Selecting of a company Tally will display a screen called “ GATEWAY OF TALLY”
which consists the following parts,

1. Left side area :-


Which shows the Current Active Company, it’s DATA STATUS,
it’ s Current working period, it’s Current Working date and a List
of all the selected companies.

2. Right side area :-

Which consists a menu called “ GATE WAY OF TALLY”

Functional Operating of a Company

1. To select a company F1

Note: -
In Tally we can select any no. of companies at a time created in the same directory or in different
directories

2. To shut a selected company Alt+F1


3. To change the current working date F2
4. To change the current working period Alt+F2
5. To activate the required company from the selected Companies F3
6. To enter into “ Company Info” menu from “ Gateway of Tally” menus Alt + F3
7. To activate the calculator Ctrl + N
(At any where in Tally we can activate the calculator using “ Ctrl+N” )
8. To change the language to view Alt + G
9. To change the language to type Alt + K
10. To copy a text from Tally Ctrl + Alt + C
11. To paste a text into Tally Ctrl + Alt + V
12. To accept a screen Ctrl + A
13. To quit a screen Ctrl + Q
14. To print any report from Tally Alt + P
