1 Explain the functions of hydraulic oils. (3)


2 Describe the functions of hydraulic seals. (3)
3 Name the important considerations when selecting a pump for a particular (3)
application.
4 Explain the application of accumulators in hydraulic circuits. (3)
5 Explain the differences between single-acting and double-acting cylinders. (3)
6 Explain the advantages of hydraulic motors. (3)
7 Describe the open centre valve. State its advantages. (3)
8 Differentiate between burst pressure and working pressure of conducting lines. (3)
9 Draw a circuit diagram to show the use of the accumulator as a hydraulic shock (3)
absorber.
10 Explain the purpose of a counterbalance valve circuit. (3)
