Below is the reading list. Readings not designated as required in the course schedule or not so
instructed in class are optional. However, I may occasionally refer to them in class.
These articles are free either via UA library access or of themselves. Follow the hyperlinks to
open them. If you are not connected to the school network by cable (e.g., off campus or wireless
on campus), it is recommended that you establish a UA VPN connection. To set up the VPN, follow
this instruction by the IST. Without the VPN, you may need to enter your UA credential each time
or are subject to the limit imposed by the publisher (e.g., as of January 2025, The Economist
provides a limited number of free articles per month for a registered reader). Some articles are from
Proquest. Be patient while it pulls the full text. If links to the original articles are provided, they are
preferred to Proquest articles as the latter may lack charts and tables.
