18 (i)along OY 1 mark 2

(ii) S= G/n-1 ( 1/2 mark)

S= 11Ω (1/2 mark)

19 Definition 1M 2

Draw diagram 1 M
OR
(a)Slit width increases 1M
Reason. Fringe width β = λ D/d 1Mark
(b) The fringe width will remain the same, but the fringes will become less sharp and
less visible ( 1 mark)
20 2

(a)λ α 1/√V ( 1 mark )

more is slope , less is the mass
so B has low mass compared to A ( 1 mark )

(b) minimum negative potential at which the photoelectric current in a photoelectric

tube becomes zero is known as stopping potential
For a given frequency of incident light, the stopping potential remains the same even if
the intensity is doubled(1/2 mark)

21 Critical angle : The angle of incidence to which the angle of refraction is 90° is called the 2
critical angle.or refracted ray grazes the interface ( 1 mark)

(b)
No work is done
[W = q VAB = q × 0 = 0, since potential remains constant] (1 mark)

23 (i)Slope of the line gives magnetic susceptibilities. 3

For magnetic material B, it is giving higher +ve value.
So material is ‘ferromagnetic’.
For magnetic material A, it is giving lesser +ve value than ‘B’.
So material is ‘paramagnetic’. (½+ ½ )
(ii) Magnetic moment of the coil is given by M = NIA (1 mark)

But as given, Ist coil is rewound to make new coil.

24 a) principle : mutual induction (1/2 mark) 3

Diagram (1/2 mark)
Theory ( 1 mark)
b) Efficiency = o/p power / i/p power (1/2 mark)
o/p power = 100 W
i/p power = 200x1= 200 W
so efficiency = 50% (1/2 mark)

25 3

For ray 2 the diagram is correct ½ mark

When the light ray moves from denser to rarer medium it bend away from normal
and if light ray is moving from rarer to denser medium it moves near to normal
½ mark

26 3
a)

( 2 marks)
b) two differences

(1/2 mark + ½ mark )

27 (i) a and b curves(1/2 mark) 3

Explanation:

Stopping potential will be same for the same frequency. So its curves ‘a’ and ‘b’ which
have same frequency but different intensities. (I2 > I3)
(1 mark)

(ii) electron has more de-Broglie wavelength (1/2 mark)

(1 mark)
28 (a) Kirchhoff’s laws( ½mark +1/2 mark) 3

Circuit diagram - (1/2 mark)

( 1.5 mark)

SECTION-D
29 i) b) Rutherford expected particles to travel through the atoms, but instead, they 4
ricocheted and rebounded in unexpected directions

ii) a) Zero

iii) b) 10-12cm

iv)
a) To minimize effects of multiple scattering, i.e. scattering the alpha particle on many
atoms, because Rutherford wanted ultimately to measure the deflection by a single
atom

(or)

Answer: a) It's the most malleable

30 i) (c) Heat produced in a conductor varies directly as the square of the current flowing 4

ii) (a) Doubled since Q α V2/R

iii) (a) 25 W

When bulbs are connected in series, the current through each bulb is the
same. However, the bulb with the higher resistance will glow brighter because it
dissipates more power. The 25 W bulb has a higher resistance than the 100 W bulb.

iv) (d) 30 kJ ΔU=ΔQ=i2Rt =(I)2(100)(5×60)J=30kJ

(or)

(d) 6000 J
E = P×t= 100×60= 6000 J.

Principle of ac generator: Working of ac generator is based on the phenomenon of
electromagnetic induction. whenever magnetic flux linked with a coil changes, an emf is
induced in the coil. The direction of current induced is given by flemming's right hand
rule.

Principle : Electromagnetic induction ( ½ mark)

Construction & Working

Suppose at any instant of time 't', normal to the coil makes an angle θ with the direction
of B(magnetic field),
Let, N: number of turns in the coil, A : area enclosed by coil ∴∴ Magnetic flux, 𝜙 = N
