THE SENSES AND THEIR ORGANS

There are five senses in the human body. There senses help us to know and to respond to happening
and changes in our environment. The five senses and their Organs are:
1. The sense of sight. (Eye)
2. The sense of hearing. (Ear)
3. The sense of tasting .(Tongue)
4. The sense of feeling. (skin)
5. The sense of smelling. (Nose)

Evaluation:
1. How many sense organs do we have.
2. Name the senses and their organs.

Physical and Health Education

MAJOR JOINT IN THE HUMAN BODY

A joint is a point in the body where two or more bones meet. The joint form part of the skeletal (bone)
system. It is the joint that helps us to move the different parts of our body.

4. Wrist
5. Waist
6. Knee
7. Ankle
8. Toe

MEANING OF PRAYER

Prayer is talking to God. It is opening up our heart and minds to Him(God).

THE SENSE OF SIGHT

The eye is the organ for sight. Our eyes are used to see things or objects in our environment. With our
eyes, we can see the colours, shapes and sizes of different objects.

This is because many objects around us are coming n different colours, shapes and sizes.

CORRECT POSTURE

Posture is the position the body takes at a particular time. The basic postures are walking, standing,
reading and writing.
Correct posture is when we position ourselves properly depending on the type of movement we want to
make.

Important of Correct Posture

1. It allows all the parts of the body and the internal organs to be properly positioned.
2. It allows the body to remain with discomfort, pain and deformity.
3. It makes the body not to become tired easily.

Simple Farm Tools are tools that are used by farmers to carry out operations in the farm.

There are many reasons why we pray;

1. To praise God.

MEANING AND TYPES OF ENVIRONMENT

Environment is the total surrounding in which people live. This includes churches, mosque,market e.t.c.
Another name for Environment is Surrounding.

Types of Environment

1. Social Environment: This involves relating (working and living) with one another.
2. Physical Environment: This is the part of surrounding that we can see, touch and feel. e.g river,
mountain, tree and so on

ADVANTAGES OF CIVIC EDUCATION


The advantages of Civic Education are as follows:

1. It helps us to know our rights, duties and responsibilities,


2. It helps us to know how to practice democracy.
3. It makes us to love our nation.
4. It makes us to be involved in community development activities.

SOURCES OF INSECURITY

Insecurity is a state of feeling that one is not safe or protected from danger or harm.

The sources of insecurity in our society include:

1. Bombing.
2. Rape.
3. Fire outbreak.
4. Dangerous Chemicals
5. Food Poisoning.
6. Murder.
7. Assassination.

THE SENSE OF HEARING

The ear is the Organ for hearing. We can hear different sounds from our environment through the ears.

Sounds made by living things


The sounds made by many living things in our environment are different. The animals and their sounds
made are:

Snake Hisses

Pig Grunts

Bird Sings

Elephant Trumpet

Baby Cries

It is not only animals that make sounds. Non-living things also make sounds. The most common objects
are musical instruments, Rainfall, A gushing water,bell,radio, empty bottle e.t.c.

CREATIVE RHYTHMS AND MOVEMENT

Creative Rhythms and movements are the ways we move our body at regular patterns. When we move,
we sometimes make different sounds. Creative movement and sound are made by:

3. Creative movement and sound made by machine: sounds from car, train, aeroplane, generator e

TYPES OF EXERCISE
The main types of exercise are:
1. Aerobic Exercise: This is also called Endurance Exercise. Examples of aerobic exercise are:
swimming, cycling, jogging, dancing.
2. Strength Exercise: It is also known as Resistance training. Examples are : weight lifting
machine, doing press up, lifting heavy loads.
3. Flexibility Exercise: It involves stretching your body into different positions. Examples are:
Yoga, Bending down to tie your shoes, Shoulder and upper arm stretch.
4. Balance Exercise: Example of balance exercise is standing on one foot

The teaching of Jesus on how to pray,He said we should not be tired of praying. Jesus teaches us to pray

REASONS FOR STUDYING CIVIC EDUCATION

Civic Education helps us to understand our values and practice them, in order to have a better society.

tolerance, love peace and humility.
3. To Prepare young people to become leaders in future.
4. To Prepare us to serve our country.

A Bomb is an explosive device used for destruction. A Bomb is a weapon which when it explodes, cause
destruction of lives and property, animals, buildings. It makes a place unsafe for people to live in.

It is a major source of insecurity in modern societies because of the great level of destruction it can
cause.

THE SENSE OF SMELL

The Nose is the organ for smelling. It is one of the sense organs that enable us to smell.

Nose is a part of our respiratory that help us breathe in and out.

2. It provides us with sense of smell.
3. It filters and clean air we breathe.
4. It enables us to detect pleasant and unpleasant smell.

Fundamental Rhythms are the basic movements the body makes regularly. We tend to respond to
different types of sounds especially music. We move in different ways. Some fundamental movements
the body makes are;

Simple Farm Cutting Tools are farm tools used for cutting. The cutting Tools are:

1. It is used for cleaning grassland.(Cutlass)

4. Be submissive to God's will.

Nutrients are substances which a living thing need in order bro stay alive and to grow.

2. Protein: It is found in meat, beans, egg, fish, milk and so on. It makes us to grow well.

6. Right to personal liberty.

Supicious Movement is the movement of people from one place to another where they are not needed.

The tongue is the organ for tasting. The tongue is part of sense organs used for detecting the taste of

The important of tongue as a sense of taste are as follows:

There are various locomotor movement which are used for movement by people from one place to
another. These movement includes:

Digging Tools are tools that are used for digging. Examples are:

Sleep is a natural state of rest in which your eyes are closed and your body and mind are not active.

The best time to sleep is; At night after the day's activities, you need to sleep for at least eight hours at
night.

Jesus taught us how to pray. He said we should pray everyday.

FOOD POISONING

Food Poisoning as one of the sources of insecurity means eating or drinking spoilt ,half cooked food or
uncooked food.

Food Poisoning occurs when food is contamination and is dangerous to eat. This can be caused by
exposing our food to germs or certain chemicals that are bad for human health.

All those who eat such food become sick. Symptoms of Food Poisoning include Vomiting, stomach ache
and diarrhoea.

Basic Science

THE SENSE OF FEELING

The Sense Organ used for feeling is the skin. The skin is the outer covering of all the parts of our body.

Through the skin, we can feel pain, heat and cold. We can also feel the breeze blowing on us. We can
feel things or objects by touching them. When we touch objects, the skin of our hands make us to know
whether they are:

1. Cold or Hot.
2. Smooth or Rough
3. Soft or Hard.

1. 50 Metres Race.
2. 100 Metre Race.
3. 200 Metres Race.
4. 400 Metres Race.

2. Body building Food:These are foods that contains protein. Proteinous foods include beans, egg,
fish, meat, milk etc.

An example of balanced diet is rice with beans, plantain, stew,fish, fruit and water.

Education is important to national development in the following ways:

1. It helps the citizens to understand their government and how it works

3. It helps to educate citizens on the many roles they should play as teachers, lawyer, children,
student, doctor. etc

DANGEROUS CHEMICAL

Some Chemicals are referred to as dangerous chemicals because they can cause serious damage to
human lives and property.

The Presence of dangerous chemicals in our surroundings can make the environment unsafe for living.

Smoke from the industries is also dangerous. An example of a dangerous chemical is Acid.

bar is a stick placed horizontally between two poles.

Basic Skills in High Jump

1. Run up

Common Error in High Jump

1. Lack of Proper extension of the trunk at the crossbar.


2. Pulling the leg to the bar.
