Introduction

The introduction of AI in education has brought about a paradigm shift in

teaching and learning processes. Chat GPT, with its ability to engage in human-

like text-based conversations, offers a unique tool for educational purposes. It

can provide immediate feedback, answer queries, and even assist in learning

new concepts. However, the efficacy of such AI-based tools in improving

academic performance remains a subject of debate.

A critical year in a student's academic journey, often determining future

educational and career paths. Therefore, understanding the potential benefits or

drawbacks of using Chat GPT at this stage could provide valuable insights for

educators, policymakers, and AI developers alike.

The effect of using chat GPT in the academic performance of grade 11

students in a national setting can vary depending on various factors. Here are

some potential effects;Improved Writing Skills: Chat GPT can help students

tool. It aspires to contribute to the ongoing discourse on integrating technology

learning outcomes.

such technological innovation the Chat GPT (Generative Pretrained

Transformer), a language prediction model that has the potential to

revolutionize educational methodologies. The study aims to investigate the

impact of using Chat GPT on the academic performance of Grade 11 students.

Statement of the Problem

This study will be conducted to determine the Effects of Using Chat GPT

in Academic Performance of Grade 11 students in Medroso Mendoza National

High School, School Year 2023-2024.

Specifically it will attempt to answer the following;

1. What is the demographic profile of the respondents in terms of:

Gender;

Age;

2. What is the academic performance of Grade 11 students of Medroso Mendoza

National High School?

3. What is the effect of using chat GPT in Grade 11 students?

4. What is the relationship of using chat GPT in academic performance?

Assumption

The following were the assumptions of the study:

1. The extreme using of CHAT GPT can cause harm on the mental health

of the students.

2. Filipinos are using different types of CHAT GPT AI.

Scope and Delimitation

The main objective of the study is to determine the effect of using chat

gpt in the academic performance of Grade 11 students of Medroso Mendoza

National High School. The objective of the study was to know the effect of using

chat gpt.

The methodology will be limited to Descriptive method and survey-

questionnaire as the tool for data collection. The respondents were limited to 40

grade 11 students in Medroso Mendoza National High School. The period of the

study was to limited to school year 2023-2024.

Significance of the Study

This study intends to focus on the effect of using chat GPT in grade 11

students of Medroso Mendoza National High School, and to find out how chat

GPT affect the student’s lifestyle and behaviors and as well as the academic

performance of the students.

The outcome of this study is beneficial to:

Students. This study the students may gain understanding, and how

their consumption of using chat GPT affects their academic performance.

Through this study, it will further encourage them to practice time skills and

knowledge.

Parents. This study will help parents to as it reveals the part of their

children. By this research parents will know how they can help and guide their
children. Through this study, the parents will help to guide their children in

managing their skills properly.

Teachers. This study will give them awareness as it takes a big part or

serves a factor about the academic performance of the students. Through this

study, the teachers will help to guide their students in managing their skills

properly.

School Heads. This study will help them determine the strengths and

weaknesses of the students in their academic performance. And it will help them

to guide their teacher to promote to their students the proper managing of time

in studying.

Other Researchers. Who will make follow up research regarding the

effect of using chat GPT among the Filipino teenagers, this will serve as their

guide and reference materials.

Definition of Terms

Chat GPT. Artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot that uses natural language

processing to create humanlike conversational dialogue. The language model

can respond to questions and compose various written content, including

articles, social media posts, essays, code and emails.

Academic Performance. It refers to the measurement of student

achievement across various academic subjects (ballotpedia.org). In this study

aims to investigate the factors influencing student's academic performance. The

extent to which the student achieve their goals in school, and can be measured

in the number of ways including grades, standardize test scores, and class rank.
