Solar system is the gravitational bound system of the sun and the objects
that orbit it. It formed about 4.6 billion years ago when a dense region of a
molecular cloud collapsed, forming the sun and a protoplanetary disc.
It is a group of objects that orbit a star, held together by the stars gravity.
Our solar system includes the sun, planets, moons, asteroids, and comets. Its
part of the milky way galaxy, which made up of billions of stars.
The solar system is enormous and held together by the sun’s tremendous
gravitational pull that holds the planets and the asteroids in orbit. It
comprises eight planets around the sun. These planets revolve around the
sun in elliptical paths known as orbits. The solar system also contains small
irregulary shaped objects made of rock, metal, and carbon called asteroids.
Questions:
1. Give the different planets in the solar system and its meaning.
14. Assume the distance between earth and sun becomes half of its present
distance. What is likely to happen life?
15. Enumerate the dwarf planets and its functions in the universe.
