SOLAR SYSTEM_100334

The document covers two main topics: the solar system and acid rain formation. It provides an overview of the solar system's components, including the sun, planets, moons, dwarf planets, asteroids, and comets, along with a series of research questions related to these topics. Additionally, it explains acid rain as precipitation with low pH caused by pollutants and outlines a task for illustrating and explaining its formation.

TOPIC: The SOLAR SYSTEM

Solar system is the gravitational bound system of the sun and the objects
that orbit it. It formed about 4.6 billion years ago when a dense region of a
molecular cloud collapsed, forming the sun and a protoplanetary disc.

It is a group of objects that orbit a star, held together by the stars gravity.
Our solar system includes the sun, planets, moons, asteroids, and comets. Its
part of the milky way galaxy, which made up of billions of stars.

The solar system is enormous and held together by the sun’s tremendous
gravitational pull that holds the planets and the asteroids in orbit. It
comprises eight planets around the sun. These planets revolve around the
sun in elliptical paths known as orbits. The solar system also contains small
irregulary shaped objects made of rock, metal, and carbon called asteroids.

Whats in our solar system?

 Sun a star that fuses hydrogen into helium to create energy.
 Planets, the eight planets that orbits the sun, including mercury,
venus, earth, mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.
 Moons more than 210 moons that orbit planets.
 Dwarf planets Five officially named dwarf planets including ceres,
orcus, pluto, haumea, quaor, makemake, gonggong, and eris.
 Asteroids, thousands of asteroids that orbit the sun.
 Comets thousands of comets that orbit the sun.

TASK 1: Research over the internet. Answer the following questions.

Questions:
1. Give the different planets in the solar system and its meaning.

2. How many planets are there in the solar system?

3. Which planet is the closest to the sun? why?

4. Solar system is located in where?

5. Why is it called the solar system?

6. Where do most comets arrive from?

7. How did the solar system originate?

8. What is a solar system made of?

9. Is a solar system expanding?

10. Is sun the hottest in the solar system?

11. Why does the moon change its shape daily?

12. Explain why we see the same side of the moon.

13. Do stars emit light only during the night?

14. Assume the distance between earth and sun becomes half of its present
distance. What is likely to happen life?

15. Enumerate the dwarf planets and its functions in the universe.

TOPIC: ACID RAIN FORMATION

Acid Rain is a precipitation with a low PH caused by sulphur dioxide and

nitrogen oxides reacting with water vapour. It harms ecosystems and
damages buildings.

TASK 2:

 Search over the internet. Draw an Acid Rain Formation in a 1/8

illustration board. Explain how acid rain forms.
