The Consequences of Teen Pregnancy

Teenage pregnancy is a global problem in the modern world that affects high, middle and

low-income countries. However, globally, teenage pregnancy is more common among people

with low social status such as the unemployed, the poor, and drug addicts drug addicted. This

problem is important because it has negative health consequences not only for parents but also

for their teens. Teenage pregnancy is often accompanied by poverty and , lack of education and

lack of employment opportunities.

Teen pregnancy is strongly linked to poverty. For example, women who give birth at a

young age do less later in life in many ways, and this affects their employment opportunities.

Two-thirds of teen mothers who move out of their family home live in poverty, and a similar

share receive public benefits in the first year of their child's life (Where is this coming from?).

Seventy-eight percent of children born to teenage mothers who never married and who did not

graduate from high school live below the federal poverty level (Where is this coming from? You

needed it to cite this. No outside sources were supposed to be used.). Many of these teens can

only hold a job that fits their new mom schedule.

Teen pregnancies cause lower level of education. Teen pregnancy can result in a young’s

young girl’s girl education being put on hold indefinitely. That is why many people believe that

pregnancy is an unfortunate event in the life of a teen. Yet, it is occurring with increased

frequency. Teenage mothers are unlikely to reach secondary school without a family member’s

support. The fear of getting bully bullied can cause a teenage mother not wanting to want to go

to school. Most parents do not want their children to have a friendship with a teen mother.

Because because they think that their children can be influenced and to make the same mistakes.

Due to their lack of studying and completing homework, teen moms are most more likely to have

a lower grade than their classmates. Therefore, their school achievements are lower than

expected.

In conclusion, as we can see, teen pregnancy has major consequences, such as poverty,

lack of education and less employment opportunities. To decrease the consequences of teen

pregnancy, we should address the underlying social problems that lead woman to become teen

mothers in the first place.
