GV-DynamicDNS_InstallationGuide
GV-Dynamic DNS V2 allows you to register domain names that always point to a desired
system/server, installed with GeoVision software, when it has a dynamic IP address.
GV-Dynamic DNS will update the system/server’s IP address to the DNS Server every 10
minutes. Therefore, regardless of how your system/server’s IP address changes, you can still
locate it by using the domain name registered.
Note:
1. GV-Dynamic DNS Service uploads IP addresses over the Internet through ports 80 and
81. If your system/server is connected through a router or firewall, make sure ports 80
and 81 are allowed for communication.
2. GV-Dynamic DNS Service only uploads global IP addresses. If your system/server is
using a virtual IP, NAT port mapping must be done before hand.

2. Select Utility from the dropdown list and download GV-Dynamic DNS Service V2.
Hostname: The hostname is made by what you have typed plus “gvdip.com”. In this
example, the hostname is “http://julia.gvdip.com”. This will be the domain name used
to locate your system/server.
IP Address: Your system/server’s current IP address. This IP address is updated
every 10 minutes.
Note: The domain name .gvdip(xx).com may vary with xx ranging from 01 to 99.
After registering a domain name with GV-Dynamic DNS V2, you can enable the DDNS
function on your system/server. Run Dynamic DNS Service and make sure the GeoVision
software is running with its network services enabled.
Hostname & Password: Type the hostname and password defined by Step 3 & 4 in
Registering Domain Name with DDNS.
Obtain an IP address automatically: The DDNS server will use any available IP
address from the server or router.
Use the following IP address: If your server or router has more than one IP address,
you can assign one of them for the connection by typing it here. It is strongly
recommended to assign a fixed IP address instead of a dynamic IP address, which will
be inaccessible by the DDNS when the IP address is changed.
Run at startup: Select to automatically run the DDNS service upon Windows startup.
E-mail Setting: See Setting up E-mail Notification later in the document.
After the above settings are completed, click Save. The connection information is displayed.
Note: The DNS Client will not upload the IP address when the GV-Software installed on the
system/server isn't running. If the IP address of your system/server is not updated for more
than 180 days, your host name will be terminated and deleted automatically.
