1. COURSE DESCRIPTION
In this class, students will be introduced to the key concepts, tools, and principles of
strategy formulation, implementation, and evaluation. This course is designed in a unique
manner to enhance students' strategic thinking and decision making skills through the
integration of synergistic theories and concepts about strategies.
The Strategic Management module is a required module of the basic knowledge of the
Business Administration major. The objective of the module is to provide learners with the
opportunity to identify and evaluate global, macro, and industry environmental factors that
affect business strategy. After this course, students expect to know the basic steps necessary
to formulate an organization’s business strategy.

Instructional Methods
The course relies upon student participation in class discussion, analysis, and hands-
on projects. Supplementary material will be provided through lectures as well as individual
research and written deliverables. The strategic planning, implementation and evaluation will
be investigated with particular regard to the relationship to the larger organization. Significant
emphasis is placed on the student’s written communications and in-class participation. This
course is seen as the part of a curriculum of study leading to a graduate degree to more fully
prepare students for success in this endeavor, certain resources/content on teamwork and
business communications will be presented.
3. COURSE OUTCOMES
In this course, learners be able to:
LO1 Identify and evaluate global, macro, and industry environmental factors
affecting strategic planning
LO2 Demonstrate creative thinking, multi-dimensional perspective in strategic
management.
LO3 Recognize and evaluate the impact of strategic business decisions with
consideration about ethics and social responsibilities in the global
environment.
4. COURSE GRADING
The grades earned for the course will be derived using City University of Seattle’s decimal
grading system, based on the following:
Presentation 20 %
Final Exam 50 %
Total 100%
Participation
Students are expected to actively participate in class discussions, group activities, and
complete assigned homework. Participation includes asking questions, contributing to
discussions, and engaging in group work. Bonus marks may be awarded for exceptional
participation.
Students who do not attend a minimum of 80% of the overall course will not be allowed
to sit for the final exam.
Mid-term test
A written test ( 45 min – 1 hour) covering the theoretical concepts taught in the first half
of the course (Weeks 1-5).
Presentation:
Students will work in groups of 3-5 to prepare and deliver a 20-minute presentation on
a strategic management topic assigned by the lecturer. The presentation will be assessed
on content, clarity, teamwork, and delivery
Exam:
A comprehensive exam covering all course material, including both theoretical and
practical aspects of strategic management. The exam will be open-book.
