 INTRODUCTION:-
Green banking refers to the paperless banking business transactions.Green
Banking is like a normal bank which considers all the social and environmental
factors it is called as an ethical bank. Ethical banks have started with the aim of
protecting the environment. Green banking means combining operational
improvements technology and changing client habits in banking business.Green
banking comes in many forms such as using online banking instead of branch
banking paying bills online instead of mailing them opening up CDs and money
market accounts at online banks instead of large multi branch banks or finding the
local bank in the area that is taking the biggest step to support local Green
initiatives.

A)Concept of Green Banking

The concept of Green Banking is mutually beneficial to the Consumers, banks,


industries and the economy. For consumers, this shift towards Green Banking
means that more deposit and loan products will be available through online and
mobile banking. It also means better deposit rates on Green Deposits and Green
savings accounts and lowers interest rates for Green Mortgages. For banks,
adoption of Green Banking services leads to paperless banking, energy saving,
etc.Green banking is a category of banking practices considering all the social and
ecological factors with an aim to defend the environment and preserve natural
resources. It is also called as ethical banking or sustainable banking.

B) Need and importance of Green Banking.

1. Green banks gives more importance to environmental friendly factors


like ecological gains thus interest on loan is comparatively less.

2. Basically Ethical (Green) banking avoids as much paper work as possible


and rely on online/electronic transactions for processing so that you get
green credit cards and green mortgages. Less paperwork means less
cutting of trees.
3. Free electronic bill payment services.
4. Online account opening form for opening green account.
5. Cash back will be credited to all new customers, opening “green accounts”.
6. Green banking optimizes costs, reduces the risk, enhance banks reputations
and contribute to the common good of environmental sustainability.

7. Indian Banks can adopt green banking as business model for


sustainable banking.

Research methodology is nothing but a systematic way of solving a difficulty,


it is the science which studies about carried out procedure of research like
describing the research work, explaining the research work and also predicting .
All these parameters together are called as a research methodology .

A) Primary data collection


It means original data that has been collected specially for purpose in mind. It
means someone collected the data from original source first-hand.
1) Interviews:-

An Interview is a conversation where questions are asked and answers are


given.

2) Questionnaire Method:-
The interviewer asks the questions , the interviewee respond, with participants
taking turns talking. Interviewer, usually involves a transfer of information from
interviewee to interviewer, which is for usually the primary purpose of the
interview.

B) Secondary data collection
Secondary data is the data which is collected by someone else than a user.
common sources of secondary data includes censuses, information collected by
government departments, and data that were originally collected for other research
purposes.

1) Web Blogs:-
A blog is a discussion or informational website published on the World
Wide Web consisting of discrete, often informal diary style text entries. Posts are
typically displayed in reverse chronological order, so that the most recent post
appears first, add the top of the web page.

2) Books:-
Books can be useful in research particularly when you have just beginning
you're career or when you are just beginning research on a topic. Textbooks give
an introduction, background add basic information on a topic.

3) Statistical Analysis:-
Statistical analysis is the collection and interpretation of data in order to
uncover patterns and trends. It is a component of data analytics. Statistical analysis
can be used in situations like gathering research interpretations, start listicle
modeling or designing surveys and studies.

The term Green banking is being heard more often today. According to
Indian banks association IBA 2014 green bank is like a normal bank which
considers all the social and environmental ecological factors with an aim to
protect the environment and conserve natural resources it also known as ethical
bank or sustainable bank green banking include less paperwork less mail and
less driving to branch offices by bank customers which all have a positive
impact on the interestingly online banking can also increase efficiency and
profitability of a bank. Green banking also can reduce the need for expensive
branch. Green banking is also gaining importance in recent times most of the
banks are undergoing computerization networking and offering of online
banking to customers reduce the use of paper directly and indirectly resulting in
pollution control. Bank can also support eco friendly buy going green by going
through green banking.

 Conclusion :-

In Green Banking we have studied the challenges of green banking, the


benefits of green banking. Understanding the concepts of green banking initiatives
by Indian banks and online banking methods of adopting green banking and to
know the products and services in green banking.Green banking is really a good
way for people to get more about a paperless banking. Information about Green
banking also facilitate in improving the asset quality of the banks in future.
