Eddie the Elephant

Material list
Yarn: Babytoly Organic cotton in silver, dusty rose and deep red

Hook: 2.5 mm
Others: yarn needle, fibrefill, black thread for the eyebrows, 6mm safety eyes

Using the same yarn and hook size, your Eddie. The Elephant should be approximately
22cm. You can use any yarn and hook size you prefer but then the size of the doll may differ.
If you use a different yarn, make sure to adjust the hook size and safety eye size
appropriately.

Crochet the trunk into the hole you have made (see
the pattern instructions for the trunk).
When the trunk is finished, insert the safety eyes
between row 19 and 20. Place them 4 sts away from
either side of the trunk.
Continue crocheting the head. Begin stuffing the
head heavily. Continue stuffing as you go.

Stuff the foot firmly. Stuff the first half of the leg lightly
but leave the second half empty

Begin making the first leg. Work on the first 24 sts.

Fasten off and sew in yarn ends. Join the yarn onto
the other side of the shorts and repeat rnds 12 and 13.
Make 2 braces by making 28ch on the left and right
side of the shorts.

hat using babytoly organic cotton in deep red
The brim of the hat is crocheted in rows. By
crocheting in the back loops only, you can create a
ribbing effect.

Rnd sts
1 9ch, (starting in 2nd ch from 8
hook) 8sc, 1ch, turn
2-50 (49 rnds) BLO 8sc, 1ch, turn 8

Do not fasten off. Crochet both sides of the brim


together with 5sc. Turn the brim inside out so the
join is facing inwards. At the top of the brim,
continue crocheting the main part of the hat in
rounds.

1 1ch (does not count as 1st sc), 50


50sc along the top edge of the
brim, slst in 1st st

Continue crocheting with hdc. The 2ch at the


beginning of each rnd do not count as the first hdc.

2-10 (9 rnds) 2ch, 50hdc, slst in 1st st 50

Fold together and join the top edges with 25sc.


Fasten off and sew in yarn ends. Make 2 tassles and
sew them onto the corners of the hat.

To make the tassles, I used a tassle maker from


Clover. If you do not own a tassle maker, there are
many quick and easy tutorials you can find on
youtube.
