o Question: Am/Is/Are + subject + going to + base verb?
A. Present Simple o Example: Is she going to study tonight?

• Use: To talk about habits, routines, facts, or general truths. Part 2: Communication Functions
• Form:
o Positive: Subject + base verb (+s/es for he/she/it) A. Talking About the Weather
▪ Example: She walks to school every day.
o Negative: Subject + do/does + not + base verb • Common questions:
▪ Example: They do not like coffee. o What’s the weather like?
o Question: Do/Does + subject + base verb? Example: It’s sunny and warm.
▪ Example: Does he play football? o Is it raining?
Example: No, it’s cloudy but dry.
B. Present Continuous o How’s the weather today?
Example: It’s cold and windy.
• Use: To talk about actions happening right now or around
the present time. B. Talking About Future Plans
• Form:
o Positive: Subject + am/is/are + verb + ing • Useful expressions:
▪ Example: I am studying English now. o I am going to visit my grandparents.
o Negative: Subject + am/is/are + not + verb + ing o She is going to study for her exams.
▪ Example: She is not watching TV. o What are you going to do this weekend?
o Question: Am/Is/Are + subject + verb + ing?
▪ Example: Are they playing basketball? C. Talking About Ongoing Actions

C. Adverbs of Frequency • Useful expressions:


o He is writing an email.
• Use: To describe how often an action happens. o We are watching a movie.
• Common adverbs: always, usually, often, sometimes, o What are they doing? They are playing outside.

Present Simple:

• Fact: The sun rises in the east.


• Habit: He goes to the gym every morning.

Present Continuous:

• Ongoing action: She is reading a book now.


• Temporary action: We are staying at a hotel this week.

Adverbs of Frequency:

• Placement: • He rarely eats fast food.


o Before the main verb: She always eats breakfast. • They always do their homework on time.
o After the verb "to be": He is often late.
Future with "Going to":

• Plan: I am going to visit my cousin tomorrow.
• Use: To talk about plans or intentions and predictions • Prediction: Look at those clouds! It is going to rain.

Parts of an Email:

Subject Line: A brief summary of the email's purpose.

Example: "My Favorite Hobbies" or "Weekend Plans."

Greeting: Start with a friendly greeting.

Examples: "Hi [Name]," or "Dear [Name],"

Body: Write the main content of your email.

Paragraph 1: Introduction (why you are writing the email).

Paragraph 2: Details (explain your topic in detail).

Paragraph 3: Conclusion (ask a question, share a final


thought, or say goodbye).

Closing: End with a polite phrase.

Examples: "Best regards," "Yours sincerely," "Take care,"

Your Name: Sign off with your name.

Example: "Nissrine."
