32. The present age of a girl is 3 years more than three times the age of her sister. Three years hence, the
girl's age will be 10 years more than twice the age of her sister. Find their present age.

Or

A two-digit number is 4 more than 6 times the sum of its digits. If 18 is subtracted from the number,
the digits are reversed. Find the number.

33. Sides AB, AC and median AD of a ∆ ABC are respectively proportional to sides PQ, PR and median
PS of another triangle PQR. Show that ∆ ABC ~ ∆ PQR.

34. From a solid cube of side 7 cm, a conical cavity of height 7 cm and radius 3 cm is hollowed out. Find
the volume and surface area of remaining solid.

Or

A right-angled triangle whose sides are 3 cm, 4 cm and 5 cm is revolved about the sides containing
the right angle in two ways. Find the ratio of volume of two cones so formed. Also, find the difference
of their curved surface area. (𝜋 = 3.14)

Case Study-Based questions

36. The floor of a design is given in figure. It has alternate grey and white blocks taking O as origin and
each block as 1 unit. A plant lover wants to construct a square shape garden PQRS in the middle of
the floor.

On the basis of above answer the following:


(i) What are the coordinates of the
corners P, Q, R and S?
(ii) Find the length of side of the garden.
(iii) Find the area of the floor excluding
the garden.
Or
Find the distance of the mid-point of
PS from corner Q and R.

37. Harish deposits ₹ 5 in his piggy bank on first day, on second day he deposits ₹ 7, on third day he
deposits ₹ 9, on fourth day he deposits ₹ 11 and this process continues. On the basis of above, answer
the following:
(i) The amount deposited by Harish on 10th day.
(ii) The amount deposited by Harish on 𝑛𝑡ℎ day.
(iii) The total amount deposited by Harish in 10 days.
Or
How many days he has to deposit money to collect ₹ 1440?

38. The students of class X visited Qutub Minar. Teacher told them that it is the building built in 1193 by
Qutb-ud-din Aibak. Teacher asked them to see the top of the Qutub Minar using clinometer and to
measure its height by using the concept of trigonometry.
A students of height 2 metres is at distance of 71 metres from the foot of Qutub Minar observe that
the angle of elevation of top of the minar as 45°.
On the basis of above answer the following:
(i) Draw the neat labelled diagram to show the above situation.
(ii) Find the height of Qutub Minar.
(iii) If the student moves away from Qutub Minar and again observes that the angle of elevation
of top of Qutub Minar become 30°. Find distance travelled by the boy. (Use √3 = 1.73)
Or
If a boy of height 1.6 m stands on a platform which is 1 m high and observes that the angle of
elevation of Qutub Minar is 45°. Find the distance of platform from Qutub Minar.
