1 PUMPS FOR FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM

Note:
Whether explicitly specified or not, the Pumps and Motor for Fire
Protection System specified herein, must conform to the M & W
Specifications of Fire Pumps in addition to the description given
in respective items of BOQ. In case of contradiction between
i) Technical specifications and description in BOQ, BOQ shall prevail.
BOQ shall be read in conjuction with technical specifications.

ii) The motor HP to be confirmed by the supplier for the duty mentioned
for each pump.
All Main Fire Pumps shall be capable of delivering 150% of the rated
iii) flow at a head not less than 65% of the rated head. Also the shut-off
head shall not exceed 140 % of the rated head.
iv) Rates quoted shall be inclusive of all structural supports,
clamps etc. as per approved
design/specifications.
v) All the items / parts mentioned in relevant clauses of the M &

required for fullfilling the intended purpose of the system, shall be
deemed to be included in the quoted rates, unless specifically excluded.

vi) Head given in BOQ are indicative and increase/decrease within 10 %

of same shall be without any price

plate with all pump accessories, pressure guage (Each with cut off ball
valves) complete as per M & W Specifications including mechanical

1.2 ELECTRICAL DRIVEN CURTAIN NOZZLE PUMP

Supplying, installing, testing and commissioning of Fire authority

approved Electrical driven fire pump suitable for automatic/ manual
operation consisting of the following:
i) End suction centrifugal fire pump capable of delivering below
mentioned flow at rated head while running at 1450 RPM complete
with proper connection to suction and delivery line, and
including bypass arrangement for testing of pumps, having a
name plate indicating suction, delivery, head, discharge, stages,
RPM and direction of rotation.

Pump shall be capable of furnishing not less than 150% of rated

capacity at a head not less than 65 % of rated head. The shut off head
shall not exceed 120% of rated head.
ii) Squirrel cage, induction motor, TEFC type, efficiency class. eff-1,
suitable for 415 + 10%V, 3 phase, 50 Hz, AC supply, of suitable HP
rating for the above pump with asynchronous speed of 1450
RPM conforming to IP 55 protection & class 'F' insulation. The motor
shall conform to IS 12615 : 2004 and IS 325 : 1978 (up to date) with
flexible coupling and coupling guard.

iii) Common base plate for mounting pump and motor

fabricated of mild steel channel as per manufacturer's
recommendation with heavy duty Anti Vibration pads as per
requirement.

iv) Suitable reinforced cement concrete pump foundation as per

manufacturer's design including foundation bolts, washers as required.

v) Flexible Coupling and coupling guard for direct coupling of pump and
motor.

Supply, installation, testing and commissioning of heavy duty

Galvanised Steel Pipe (conforming to M & W Specifications) with
all fittings viz. flanges, bends, tees, elbows, reducers, as
specified, including cutting, welding / grooved fitting and making
threaded joint and fixing to floor / wall with approved structural
supports such as clamps, hangers etc. This further includes (1) If
needed, Cutting holes / chases in brick or RCC walls / slabs and

Supply, installation, testing and commissioning of Heavy Duty

galvanised steel pipes, embedded in earth shall be conforming to M &
W Specifications with all fittings like couplings, bends, elbows, tees,
flanges, CAF gaskets etc., including welding grooved fitting as
required. This also includes necessary excavation in all kinds of soil
(including hard rock) up to the required depth and providing 150 mm
thick sand layer all around the pipes, refilling, ramming, removal and

Providing, fixing, testing & commissioning of Digital pressure

switches shall be employed for starting and shutting down
operation of pumps automatically, dictated by line pressure. The
Pressure Switch shall be analog output, stainless steel sensor,
LCD display -4 digit, High accuracy, Wetted Part : Stainless
steel-316, Measuring range: 0-10 bar. The housing shall be in
a cast aluminium, IP 65 compliant weatherproof enclosure

1.50 m high, fabricated out of 8 mm thick M.S. plate having dish
